1st Derby of the season is here...
8 horses accepted for the big race and will be running for glory.
INCA, Jaivant, Nandish from Vijay Singh's yard will be running with almost no chance to crossing the line ahead of the rest. At the same time, Vijay is the of KOL track you never know when he will pull out a rabbit out of his hat.
Topnotch - Till now very ordinary performance till now, will be surprised if he manages to place.
Streaming Gold - The only outstation challenger, just arrived at RCTC, no tract work at best may place.
Tenno Sho - Mile and a half bit too much for him? we will get to see on Sunday I don't see him getting past the only filly in the field...will be in the firing line though.
Trafalgar - Outstanding preparation, good mock race, blazing the track, hopefully, has improved on his gate manners.
Rosina - Winner of Oaks, proved her staying capabilities. Vastly improved from her Monsoon derby run. Should romp home in style.
My pick will be Rosina for the Derby.
Would request other seniors to share their views.

Why not Nandish!
He has the bloodline, belongs to one of the leading owners of Kokata, hails from a top yard, has a top rider astride and most important of all, has performed like a champ in both his starts.
Another factor in his favour. Two of his siblings picked up a classis each at the 12f trip. Simply Stylish, by Steinbeck, picked up the Golconda Oaks whereas the other one Oriana, bred in full to Nandish annexed the Calcutta Oaks.
Do consider the above while assessing the chances of the ones contesting the Calcutta derby.

My bet Will be on Tenno Sho as he is bred to stay for long distance races . His bloodline has both speed and endurance henceforth he will travel well to win the derby .

It will be a heck of a race for tenno sho he should win

Guess I agree with your choice as dont know whether Trafalgar will be stalled or withdrawn at race time.
For me Inca or Streaming Gold will run a big race.
Though Tenno Sho is by a Galileo mare, dont know whether he will stay the gruelling trip.
One thing for sure, may the best horse win.

Tenno sho was ridden half heartedly in his previous outing resulting in Trafalgar winning the Summer derby. Now the story will be different if Tenno Sho is ridden judiciously.. Anything may happen in racing just like the rank outsider Victorious Sherman winning the RRR Trophy beating the piping hot favourite Trouville today at Mumbai.

Calcutta Derby - Acceptors are out and it looks like Trafalgar for me. Tenno sho may take the second spot.
