Among the 5 winter Derbies we have finished with the first winter Derby The Calcutta Derby Stakes (Gr.1) where Trafalfalgar outclassed the field and won by a length giving him back to back Kolkata Derby winners (Both monsoon and winter derby). We saw all races (1000 Guineas (Gr.3) , 2000 Guineas (Gr.2), oaks (Gr.3) , Derby (Gr.1)) won by 4 different horses in Calcutta.

We are heading towards the 2nd winter Derby The South India Derby Stakes (Gr.1) , with no of classic races ahead The South India 1000 Guineas (Gr.2) winner Star Appeareance will miss the Derby.

A small field of 8 runners will run in this event where the colts have outnumbered the fillies .
