Back to listsTrainer P Prasanna Kumar Persistency Is Key To Success
By S Athresh | 27-Jan-2020On the onset would like to congratulate trainer Prasanna Kumar for his maiden Derby win. Many racing pundits did mention that son of Soviet Lake would not relish the distance. But he was so confident that War Hammer needs more ground and would Annex the Derby in taking style. He did so in almost a record time and Hammered the field, now the team would take a call whether the wonder horse would run in Indian Derby. I am sure he would be taking a wise and sensible decision.
Mr Prasanna Kumar started way back in 2003 from Mysore. A qualified Engineering graduate stuck to his passion of training horses. He worked under the guidance of Mr. Mohan Valvi . Pattu. ( called among racing fraternity) always loved to venture and experiment new things. He put his heart and soul into his work. His maiden win came from a horse called "Agnivarsh"After a pretty success stint in Mysore,he shifted his base to Bangalore. Where his brother had invested big time in getting horses. At one point of time he had almost 40 horses in his yard, most of them owned by his brother. Knowing him from close quarters, this man worked with such a passion to deliver results. After 3 years his Brother decided to quit racing. All of a sudden Pattu was left with 3 horses in his yard, out of which only one horse was in a racing condition. Even though he had one horse he used to be at the course sharp 5:30 and worked with same passion. At one point of time he decided to quit racing. At that point of time Mr Arjun Manglorkar did advise him not to give up and was big morale support to him. After 4 years of struggle and challenges, his yard started to grow gradually. He started gaining confidence and results started coming in where he got his maiden championship trainer in 2017 from then he was the leading trainer for 3 seasons consecutively and still counting. Most of them are not aware that Sergeant at Arms was initially trained by him and later moved to other stables for unknown reasons. Now he his blessed with wonder horse WAR HAMMER.
Going ahead I am sure he will reach new heights as now he has stepped into big league
Now winning Indian derby is within touching distance. Keeping fingers crossed that War Hammer travels to Mumbai for the biggest event of Indian racing calender.
Would like to conclude by Congratulating his entire team for a splendid show. Best wishes Pattu HARD WORK WILL NEVER GO UNNOTICED... CHEERS MATE
