Congrats D S Deora

By Raghavan | 18-Feb-2020

Hearty congratulations to D S Deora for winning Delhi derby astride Top Secret.

Of course, Delhi derby is only 2nd claass derby for many race goers.  The prize money also considerably smaller than what it is for BNG, MUM, Pun etc derbies.   And, of course, only a mile race.  But, it is also derby race within the defintion of act.

Betting was restricted to No-6 Prince Valiant, No. 10 Electra & No 1 Ashwa Yashobali.  There were some Deora fans or Top Secret fans who wagered on Top Secret that too hoping against hope.  And, some stray betting from Trevor fans was seen on Tudor hall.

Well.  Chouhan, Sandesh, Trevor were silenced.  Suraj Narredu, the triple derby winner applied for casual leave in the last minute.  And D S Deora rode confidently.

At BNG, there were 13 tickets after 4th leg of jp.  However  jp was c/f.  Somewhat surprising because 5th leg was won by a horse that had attracted decent betting.

Let us all cheer the Delhi based jockey!

Right.  Suraj did not apply for casual leave.  But, let me just present that scratching as Suraj's intention instead of tantrums by the horse.

SSPP,

Irvan Singh may be good.  Only thing he has to compete with jockeys like Suraj. Sandesh, Trevor etc.   So, till the time these worthies retire, Irvan Singh has to be contended with his whatever little performance.

Very true . Irvan Singh is a very talented and hard working jockey and has really been unfortunate that he does not get good horses often. The last time he got one he rode it to perfection and proved how good a horsemen he is. Of course I am talking about watchmyscript who blew the field in Bangalore beating big sur and others

I find D S Deora a decent stuff by any standards. It's quite unfortunate that Delhi-based jockeys don't get the kind of attention they deserve. If only Deora can be tried in prime centres like Mumbai or Bangaluru regularly, there is little doubt that he will make his presence felt.

I want to use this opportunity to make a reference about Irvan Singh, another gifted rider who keep placing horses that had proved a 'dud' in the hands of many other riders. He also deserves a lot of attention and proper care.
