Lalwani Chennai,
I do not know how can you say that WH was the ovewhelming fancy in Mumbai derby races and bet was only on that horse and all other horses were neglected. Of course, I also expected that horse to win.
But, I do not subscibe to your idea that bookies were in big loss on account of WH. There was big bet on Julieete also. As per result page of Indiarace site, Juliete was the favorite.
Even granting that bookies paid through their nose because of WH, do you think they are reeling under that loss even now! Our punters are the most faithful customers as far as their dealings with bookies concerned.
A punter may take loan of 5000 from you and take 5 months to repay it without interest. But bookies money?? Our punters will not hold on to their cash even for three days!
Debi (baba),
Bangalore punters will welcome bookies with poorna kumbha & red carpet. But, will they be coming back as early as 29th February? I have my own doubt. Perhaps you are privy to some inside information. Dekhenge!
I do not like bookies! But, they are my best friend. It was easy for me to finalise my choices whenever bookies were functioning.
Punters will not care to attend in big number/s if there are no bookies! Of course there is merit in such statements. But, I personally felt that the footfalls in the last 5 days are in no way less than what it used to be when bookies were functioning.

I think BTC will continue to function at the same premises for at least three years even if the Supreme Court decided the case in favor of Government. and asks BTC to vacate. There are too many employees in BTC and the Court is known to act humanely also. The number of tote clerks in BTC is well over 600! Court can not abruptly give marching orders for this much number of employees.
