For those who do not read the card thoroughly ( quote courtesy of Dr.Cheenu) and concentrate only on the merits and demerits of hyped favourites , it was a day of disaster.

I know of seasoned punters ignoring the feature races and concentrating on other races and reaping rich dividends on 1. Subah ka Tara, Karandeniz, Star Sapphire and Rapunzel. 

I was not one of them. But I was also not playing ( betting). 

I was told that in Bangalore even Lagoplus in the last race was fancied in the tote.

I just rue that I didn't read the card thoroughly.

Hi all, 

Planned my holiday on invitation  weekend specialy to see one wonderful horse running war hammer, but as luck would have it, he is not running this year. 

I'm yet to see him running live. Anyways now there is new superstar on the block Multifaceted. 

One horse for the day. Rest I will enjoy. 

Even if it looses I will accept that without putting the blame on trainer jockey. 

Field is large in most of races, prize offered is also good so there will be many horses who will show there true color today, please do not go over board. Even If  your horse is best on handicap he may not have luck of the race and can find himself stuck in between horses. Do not ignore this crucial factor.

Sprinters cup has two very talented horses and both have good ratings too.

Mysore as we all know is a very Tricky course.As soon as they enter the home stretch its a UP HILL for about 100 mts and then last 300 mts is a DOWN HILL. Horses generally positioned at about second or third spot at this point easily overtake a front running horse. this is what i ahve observed.This UP HILL at the bend and turning for home signals the waterloo of many a talented horse. Could it also spell the WATERLOO of IRON AGE , who knows only front running and can never run a race any otherwise, 

Another thing is Very rarely at MYSORE one can see a START TO FINISH WINNER. the entire picture of the race changes in a flash in the last 150 mts or so .

Now , not that i am disputing but in spite of very good rating my view is :

IRON AGE won three races i think at PUNE a FLAT COURSE where the 1200 mts is 25 mts short.

It won two races at MUMBAI again a FLAT ,really FLAT ideal Racing surface beating the same horses.Mind you it has never beaten a equally fast horse like (KNOTTY ASH/MAURITANIA/TUTAN KHAMUN which MULTI has TROUNCED)Last run it was also whipped at the distance post to keep the task in mind.

Coming to MULTIDFACETED,one advantage in spite of TREMENDOUS speed , still it can settle. Also all its wins have a Common factor:

FIRST WIN: 9.5 lengths: STAR TO FINISH, not urged a single time thru out the TRIP

SECOND WIN: 9.25 lengths winner, START TO FINISH not urged a single time right from word GO ON TIGHT REINS thru out.

THIRD WIN: 6.5 lemgths winner STAR TO FINISH not urged single time right from word go beating such speedy horses like KNOTTY ASH, MAURITANIA.

Today by positioning MULTIFACTED in 2nd position and only one urge from rider will see it ZIPP PAST IRON AGE bar the shouting.

My views only, Both have good rating no doubt. 

May the best horse win. SPRINTERS sometimes produces bombshell like KALAMARIS who won the sprinters at bangalore at 40/1

Race 4 : QUEEN REGNANT -- Twice 4th to ANJEZE in terms races. Has a chance here.

Race 6 : KNOTTY ASH --- Has won 1200 M races in Class 1 as well as Terms Races. Had beaten Mauritania and Accolade in Bangalore Summer when MULTIFACETED was in Class 3. A repeat of that type of run will get a PLACE today.

1.30 #7 SHERWIN went in to many note books after his promising second on debut at Bangalore. Third placed NISUS has since franked that form when winning twice including a grade 3 contest. Based on that evidence this three-year-old could take plenty of beating especially over this extended 7f trip. 

2.00 #7 VALEGRO looks the one to side with despite disappointing on his latest outing and with 4.5kg less to carry he can prove too strong for these if returning to forcing tactics. 

2.30 Sparingly raced #16 ASGARDIA won in comfortable fashion to break his maiden last start and is well worth another try at this level. #14 NOTTING HILL head the shortlist of dangers to the selection.

3.00 #13 HIGH PRIESTESS who would have finished much closer last time but for being badly hampered, will appreciate the step up in trip and deserves another chance off this lenient mark. 

3.30 The progressive #14 LION is faultless winning three out of three career starts and should be followed until beaten. 

4.00 Hard to see anything beating the favourite. #8 MULTIFACETED winner of three in a row and yet to lose over 6f, looks a sure thing.

4.30 Last year’s winner of this race #7 SACRED ROMAN should not find any difficulty to defend this title.

Saturday 29th February, 2020 invitation weekend races at Mysore and weather forecast is clody with no chance of rain till night.

1) no 7 Sherwin a failed favourite last time where jockey reported inconvenienced passing 900 mts and forced to travel wide and also cautiouly ridden consideing ducking in nature of the horse in workouts and was cautious in use of whip. he also stated that the colt was running green and require more distance to travel  and perform well, trainer stated the colt was lethargic slightly at start.  Today running over extended trip and showing good improvement  in workout, so he is a serious contender and in serious contention to  win this race.

2) no 2 Bernardini is in good form and defying everytime the handicapper and penalty and facing no 7 Valegro the western indian chellangerwho received interference last time and Eyes for you leaned inwards forcing him to steadied seems to be only worth while contender to give Bernardini a fight.

3) no 16 Asgardia sparingly raced and improving lately and at an attractive weight and no 14 Kardinez seems as next best contender in this bunch.

4) this race is wide open for no 13 High Priestess inteferred and sequeezed  last time, no 5 Hokkaido, no 11 Star Sappire and no 1 Queen Regnant.

5) Mysore based horses race wherin number of horses seems to be in serious contention like no 14 Lion, no 12 Rapunzel, np 7 Bakhtawar and no 16 Gold Field.

6) Two best sprinters with best credetials geldings likely to fight for supremacy no 8 Multifacited and no 5 Iron Age and I give preference to no 8. no 4 Intense Stylist can be a dard fluke if any. 

7) Last years stayers cup winner no 7 Sacred Roman bumped last time and may fare better this time over this extended and more suitable distance. in rest of the lot no 3 Cosmos and no 1 Ambrosio are worth mentioning contenders.

8) no 3 Mighty Warrior not got a clear run from 400 mts and arrived very late on scene , with extension of distance likely to give his best. no 2 Divine Glory and no 13 Power of Thea are other worth mentioning contenders.

Interesting contest to start the day. RS ran 2nd to FOREST FLAME, who went on to win the Juvenile Derby (Poonawalla Breeders Million) last week in Mumbai.

SHERWIN, the closest competitor, ran 2nd to RANI JINDAN in it's only run, who was beaten many many lengths by RUBIC STAR !!!

2-2 BERNARDINI

A very consistent Bangalore challenger, with 4 consecutive wins. Has a favorable draw to pull it off on a big day. VALEGRO'S last win came exactly a year ago (02/03/19) and suddenly sprouting wings from draw 14 on this big day sounds most unlikely.

If was so promising, was never taken for the Bangalore Derby Carnival.

5 in a row, with Excellent Timings. Has done nothing wrong till date. *The Owners have affinity towards this Race* (Twice NEFYN, Twice OASIS STAR, HAUNTING MEMORIES)

7-1 AMBROSIO

This 5 Yr old gelding is the first foal of AMBROSIA who won all her 4 races over 10F. Last 2 runs of AMBROSIO were much improved ones and with SURAJ in saddle, will Stay the distance....

8-1 DIVINE GLORY

A very consistent runner from Western India, whose last effort running behind the improving DEL MAR and PROPERLY POSH, caught the eye. Advantage of the rails draw should she her hitting the front early, to make it pillar to post !!

Practically impossible to loose 2 bets. Fortunately both are not favs.

6^th Race the sprinters cup:

There are more pretenders here than contenders. Except Coorg regiment all are of fairly good rating and can beat each other on a given day.

But the pretenders today are to be eliminated.

Areca legend ,Coorg regiment Corfe castle,  and Star baron do not have much chance today and can be ignored today.

Intense stylist loves scurry (1000mts) and looses its gas after that. So today it does nor have much chance unless some dramatic improvement in it. Iam inclined to leave it today.

That leave 5  horses in contention.

Out of that Mauritania and knotty ash have  been beaten by Multifaceted  squarely by more than 6 lenths and as such cant elevate  them  above Multifaceted. But knotty ash has clocked 1.09.75 carrying 60 kg at mysore riden by S.john so its in contention.

Here goes 1 more horse.

That leaves 4 horses. Iron age  ,Multifaceted, and saint Petersburg and knotty ash.

saint peterburg is giving best track. Can place today.

Having won by huge margins in all its 1200 mt races Multi demands and commands respect. But its draw back is it limited to Bangalore races.

 As far as Bangalore horses are concerned they are shade slower than Mumbai and pune horse.

As to IRON AGE  it has unblemished record sofar.Trevor has ridden it 9 times and has won 8 times. Thats 89% success. To its credit it has  clocked 56.91 secs  for a 1000 mt scurry which non has in this bunch.

With Trevor on the mount today its chances are as bright as venus . It will not loose today.  All Tervor has to do is keep Iron age just behind or on side of Multi.  Never more than 1/2 lenth.

Multifaceted may land as favorite today but in my opinion it cant beat Iron age.

Firstly let me tell you that we got the best horses line up for the invitation days and hopefully we will be able to pick the right ones. All the best!

1-7 SHERWIN - By Burden of Proof. Just had first run in Bangalore over 1200m behind Rani Jindaan and Nisus was a 1L 3rd. Since then Nisus won two Million Term Races. Sherwin has the class and extra 200m will suit and will be able to beat Code of Honour.

2-9 CERISE NOIR - By Winlegend. After a gap of 6 months, was given couple of lung openers by jockey Indrajeet Singh to be on the board and then when asked to perform to win had Akshay Kumar on board and won well. Bernardini and Subah ka tara are running at top weights but has the class, might fight for place.

3-16 ASGARDIA - By Air Support. Won well recently by almost 4L over 1400m carrying 57.5Kg and now travelling the same distance at bottom weights of 50.5Kg and should repeat at this higher class as well. Musterion and Strategist might fight for place. Many are aged horses in fray.

4-5 HOKKAIDO - By Poets Voice. Ran in Indian Oaks behind Juleitte which can be considered better than Bangalore Oaks Queen Regent behind Anjeze. Suraj is much stronger than Chethan Gowda. 1800m is much better and within reach.

5-14 LION - By Phoenix Tower. Unbeaten in last three run. Last run was after a gap of more than one year, but still performed well. With booking of TP to ride is very postive and can stay unbeaten at 4 out of 4. Cantabria can be considered as the only danger who beat most of them.

6-8 MULTIFACETED - By Multidimensional. Won its last three races over 1200m by more than 25L club together. I dont see anyone coming close to this horse at the moment. Iron Age won its last 6 races in Mumbai and Corfe Castle coming with a recent win in Hyderabad. Select from both the horses and go for a good place bet.

7-1 AMBROSIO - By Multidimensional. Lightly raced till date out of 8 runs 4 Wins and 4 Seconds. Last two runs were winning one and last one over 2400m was good. I am sure it will not have an issue going the extra 600m. Sacred Roman who was a last year winner will not go without a fight and a good place bet.

8-2 DIVINE GLORY - Was a last year winner in Hyderabad. Had a good lung opener in Mumbai 3rd recently over 1200m with an apprentice on board. CS taking the ride is a positive sign. Donna Bella and Power of Thea are both good for place bets, check the odds.
