For long punters have been victims of ploys and machinations deployed  by trainers, jockeys, owners and the club at large.cribbing is not the solution.then how do we overcome such nasty tricks.everyone has been giving the doos and don't list according to their whims and fancies.let us have some reasoning here,as the adage says 'YOU ARE THE MASTER OF YOUR OWN  FATE'. This is the gospel truth.

Hello IIMBLUE,

Your final sentence ought to be etched in gold.
You got to be wary of devious minds and their devious 'dirty' games.

GT,

As I said earlier there is no fixed winning formula or theory in horse racing. You can apply your own method of selecting a winner. You may not succeed everytime. You should be prepared to win and lose.

Just follow S C Sharma's 3rd point.

@Dustageer Ullah,

You have very aptly summarised the behind the screen tricks played by the unseen hands.

For a very long time I took the track timings at their face value. I realized much later the folly of decisions taken on unreliable data .

There was a trainer at BTC whose horses always gave average track timings.

There was another trainer who would be first one to track his horses,  sometimes in the dark. As a result track of his horses were not reported. When the authorities warned him, he reduced track work of his horses and relied entirely on swimming exercises.

There was another trainer, who used heavy saddle in workouts. As a result his horses used to report average timings. The authorities banned the use of heavy saddle much later.

Over the years, Clubs have tried to be more transparent giving all the relevant information. But a devious mind will always find a way to get around the system .

Gambling, betting, playing and life is entirely personal. One can not live another's life. So is betting. Borrowed wisdom is always no good in betting. No harm in knowing others strategies. But it is very important to know oneself, ones own tendencies, fancies , ideas and level of knowledge and attitudes based on which one should fashion a strategy unique to oneself . Stick to personal strategies , learn from mistakes , correct and fine tune the strategies and be consistent. Keep records. Review. Think. Never allow emotions to rule .

Analysing and picking a winner is different.

When to bet or not is entirely another game.

Dear All,

first and formost is LUCK,this is must,i remember one of my best friend, and leading Trainer use to tell me when I ask him can i come to the races of his centre,he use to say,MAAM come but come along with LUCK.with my 50 years of racing ,I have found this industry has given nothing to any one including racing professionals, which includes trainers, jockeys, owners etc etc,It is like Mirage, the more you are far,it looks like water, you keep nearing it it is nothing.same ways is racing,i have best friends in race clubs, but when you back as a good thing it get beaten by a nose.My experience is Track timings, are the best option, again this is also not working due to some corrupt trainers, jockeys, ane even time keepers,(they are bribed)so this strategy is also getting failed now a days.Past performance,WHERE IS IT,a horse who comes a impressive 2nd the next run,he is not allowed to run on its merit (leave it very very few good trainers )even the vets and lab teks are bribed (to change the winner;s urine sample. How is that VIKAS JAISWAL's horses are winning.I challenge no race goer can pick his ward's winner except him.stipes are bribed, one cannot do any thing, all keeping PLUS points what I have written you may have 5 to 10 winners in a year  from FAIR trainers.Do you have patience,no race goer have that (including me,iam not exception)Either you do that or stop going to the races.thats the only way.you are saved.

There is a saying - Enter the water if you know swimming. In any field basic sound knowledge of the subject is very essential than your intelligence and skill and conditions  favourable to proceed, means -If  Iron is hot , hit to mould. When conditions looks tough and against you than your patience and self control plays a vital role. To make quick or out of turn fast money or fast recovery you have to analyse the risk factor involved in racing line. It is correct - No risk, no gains. Every business and investment carry’s risk. Horse racing carry’s more risk because of its uncertainties and complexities. You have to fully understand that. How much risk you are taking and how much is the net gain in compare to your investment of time and money. If you know there is a subway or under ground safe passage than what is the use of crossing the road during peak traffic time and inviting troubles and surrounding yourself with possible risk of a accident. I came across several punters who do not follow any system and play unequal amount and after loss they starts blame game . Horses may loose because of many factors and if you watch videos after the race, you will come across many facts. Make a habit to watch  prerace and after race videos, it will help you a lot.

Winner picking requires lot of study, analysis, calculation, intelligence, skill, scientific analysis and consideration of various parameters and available reports in depth. It requires lot of patience, self-control,planning and budget. Follow-up of one betting system with equal amount of betting with proper budget and planning and to go for very selected bets is the most positive result yielding formula . I came across many punters who prefer small bets on selected horses and pools and they are really enjoying their racing and their profit and loss is not effecting their daily routine and livelihood and family responsibilities. On the other hand there are many who take everything as granted and in order to make quick and out of turn fast money invest big amounts on short priced favourites or they decide their bettings as per betting trend and volume of betting  and incurring losses. They are not analysing each and every horse in the race ,  the plus and minus points and result is incurring losses. One who incurr regular losses can’t survive  in racing. If you want to be regular and sustain in racing  then value your time and investment in racing and take risk as per your permissible limit. I wish to place some points:

1) Don’t play less than even money horses either win or place.

2) If you get even money in place for your selected horse than divide your betting stake 50 percent on win and 50 percent on place.

3) Don’t play more than one or two horses on a single race day and accept the result and close your game for the day. If no confident bet as per your study and parameters than you can avoid betting also on such race days.

4) Study each and every horse in the race from all different angles and don’t follow anyone blindly.

5) Weather and track/surface conditions - going good, soft or heavy  are to be kept in mind, so also pay attention to false rails and penetrometer reading .

6) Throughbred/bloodline knowledge, ref of track work, age, rating, weight, timing  and class and suitability of distance alongwith raceday and veterinary reports are to be analysed before arriving a decision for betting.

7) Pay attention to paddock looks for fluctuations in horse’s body weight and take a look at present condition.

8) In terms race rating is more important and  many times many horses are placed disadvantageousy and next time you have to give them second chance. I remember at Bangaluru races  on 7th July, 2018 I picked Big Sur as confident bet with A Sandesh in saddle and that horse won at 4/1 because in earlier run that horse was disadvantageously placed in a terms race where he finished close to much superior and higher rating horses, so that earlier  run was best ignored for me Like this you can pick a winner if you have paitience. Give  second chance to failed favourite horses when they run in next outing. Like recent example of Multifaceted lost first day as a favourite when punters bet heavily and won next day at good odds when punters neglected. Many times this happens in racing. .

There are many such things and examples as mentioned above. Your hard work, continue interest to pursue the subject and experience only  will teach you lot more and many things. As a experiment in beginning one can invest little as per his  risk taking capacity and after gaining confidence and depending upon   gains  can increase betting stake. All you have to do and experiment well within your limits only.

I am nor encouraging or nor discouraging anyone to be in this horse racing line or leave this field. It is purely upto you to decide. You yourself are better judge. I simply gave some advises which may prove helpful to you or make your selection process more useful/  worthy.

Lastly pl stay at home  and enjoy  and stay safe. Take good care of your and your family members health. I wish you  all tons of good luck and good days with duwaas.

There are some in this column who follow frequently winning Jockey strategy. I found frequently winning stable strategy to be more useful.

Owners come and go  :  so are jockies. But trainers remain in business for a longer period of time not to speak of their family members. Trainers are a creature of habit and it pays to follow them.

For example, Trainer N. Lagad believes in frequent running of his horses. If the horse wins , he is happy : if it places,  at least you get maintenance expenses and if is unplaced,  at least the reduction in handicap objective is achieved. So you found his horses to be on job , more often than not,  even with lesser known jockies.

But then,  you have to decide his horses in to two categories  -- Horses for Mumbai  and Horses for Pune. Then you also found him to be more active in early part of the season,  when others are yet to get into their strides.

In contrast a Trainer like I A Sait,  does not run a horse unless the horse is fully ready.

Likewise one can make a psychological profile for each stable, which could prove useful in betting decisions.

If you go deeper in to each aspect, one day you will find that your mind is occupied only with racing and nothing else. If you want to safeguard your money you have to do it or else you have to think is it really worth it?

Friends:

Winning a Race is not so easy as it appears. Behind the scene there are so many aspects to be considered.

First : Stable  and Trainer, owner and Jockey

Second Distance and Pedigree  Few Horses are bred to stay and run for long distance Races. Few are trained for Sprint Races

Third : TrackReport and Previous Record if available

Fourth Fluctuating hands of the Bookmaker

Fifth : Race Number whther the Race is starting Race for Jackpot pool

Draw No:1 s good for Sprint Race and provides advantage to the Horse

other things like Astrological and Numerological tip are all depends on the belief of Race goers. UI do not want to comment.

If a particular  Race is starting 1st leg  for Jackpot pool  there are chances forunexpected Horse may come for filtering the Jackpot tickets and sometimes 3rd or last leg of the Jackpot Race also to be considered when unexpected horse may emerge as a winner to spoil all calculations.

To avoid all these above headaches I have stopped all calculations and follow the frequently winning Jockeys or stable  Vijay Singh Kolkatta Sulaiman Attaullah - Bangalore  Pesi Shroff - Mumbai

The advantage is you can recover your loss if any soon and God willing and Luck accompanies you you may make  little money also.  Here you have to do Blind Betting with Faith with the Stable or Jockey. No other way Since you can recover your loss you do not have toworry much . This is possible ONLY if you have sufficient funds to hold you when you are down. You must have reserve funds to play with the same Jockey or stable without worry.

Racing is not so easy and it is also an exact science like any other field. You have to learn the tricks of the trade. NO PAIN NO GAIN You should not imagine yourself as a Punter or Gambler. You have to be an INVESTOR like Stock Market or any other trade.

So Racing is ONLY for those people who have steady and  sufficient income and Savings. Playing 10 or 20 each race in many pools like exacta kickxacta etc will not fetch you any gain. Once in a way you may gain but you will be tempted to play and lose again. They are all designed to drain your pocket. Even Jackpot also unless you have a clear Banker and if you have sufficient funds to invest by giving many prominent Horses and fluke  not advisable to go.  Sometimes Club also indulges in fixing activities with cooperation of the trainers. Till recently just before a Classic event Jackpot used to be carried forward to attract more crowd for the classic event. This itself a proof Club do indulges in such unfair activities. This is only a tip of an iceberg.

On the whole making money is not so easy as it appears. My tip for new comers just follow DAYS BEST in many Race Books. Play that Horse only and watch the other Races without playing  and observe carefully  how a horse is placed in the race  and in due course of time if you have keen interest you will be able to predict yourself based on your observation. Vel Race Book gives four Horses in their Fleeting Glance pages. From my observation for so many years I can say in any Race 90 percent of the winners comes from these four selected Horses only. So irrespective of the number of Horses in any Race choice for you is now brought down to 4 only. Now it is upto you to select the winner.

You can succeed ONLY if you have a passion  plus funds and taking interest not merely playing and go home. Race course is not your Bank ATM !!   Playing small amount is  no use and impulsively playing  large amount in Peti also not good. Take  in between as peryour capacity and income. You must learn to stand on your OWN and not depend on tipsters. Initially you may fail but in the long range you will be successful.

In general Racing creates addiction and you have to realise your own status. Since it varies from person to person adequate precaution is required. Once addicted leving is also difficult you need sustained effort to control your impulse. I have undergoneall these by fate or fault. I have survived due to professional advice.

Best wishes  to all

Ayyarnet
