Anil Mukhi's Article

By Blockbuster | 25-Apr-2020

Anil Mukhi reveals that the Finance Secretary of a state had verbally agreed to introducing online betting. It is a pity that the opportunity was allowed to slip away. While India has been emerging as a global digital leader it is a shame that our racing clubs languish in the primitive era. This is an area where all clubs need to come together and propose an online betting facility for Indian racing.

Club authority of India is a group of diverse clubs with individual agendas. When they could not implement all these years of a combined betting strategy for reasons best known to them, it is difficult to see them come together. The streaming of live races was another eye sore. That could have given them an ideal platform to come together to create a combined base with nominal membership and involve streaming partners with likes of Sony Liv or Prime time. Penny wise and pound foolish aptly describes the present establishment in these changing times. Innovate or this Indusry will perish.

Like someone said in some other thread that Indian railways needs to start operating to say that we have reached a level of normalcy.

As far online betting is concerned, in India, it may not find many takers.
But then, there is no other alternate.

As it is high GST has almost halved the racing business i.e. turnover.

Only the likes of Poonawala brothers can rescue racing for they have the resources to do so.

Pray and pray hard the pandemic is contained at the earliest.

Also it was shocking and surprising to note that Turf Authorities of India doesn't have an office on its own. It shows Racing clubs in India doesn't show any interest in future of Race Clubs and Racing activities in India.
