Will Fresh 2 Year-olds Be Bought In 2021?

By Race-goer | 08-May-2020

If there is not going to be any racing till the end of 2020 (as is being touted), owners will suffer huge losses having missed out on the stake money of the Bangalore Summer, Ooty, Pune, Calcutta and Hyderabad monsoon seasons as well as the beginning of the Mumbai 2020-21 racing season. If that will be the case, will the owners be in a position to buy new 2 year-olds at the sales (both private and public auction) around February 2021 ? If the 1000-odd fresh 2 year-olds are not sold, what will the breeders do with such a large number of young and potentially non-productive horses, keeping in mind that the next crop of 1000-odd yearlings (one-year-olds) are already being nurtured at the farms. Your valuable opinions, my friends on this pertinent topic.

Dear Horse Breeders,

It is suggested that if you are interested, please post some of your lots on this thread, because there are bound to be some interested owners/ Race lovers to contact you/ your office to inquire about further details and conditions etc. Request administration to please permit the use of this popular medium as it will be useful for the cause of Horse Racing and the fraternity as a whole. Thanks

Breeding Industry comes with huge running expenses not to speak of the enormous fixed cost. Only a handful of breeders were making money all these years. They will somehow survive this crisis but the marginal breeders have no other option than closing down.

Similarly I expect many of the owners too will retire from the scean. It fate of small time trainers will be no different.

Even in the best case scenario  , it will be downsizing all the way .

Rigs, Colts and Geldins might miss out Stake money likely to have won thro Races. Fillies and Mares will always have their Breeding value Even if they happen to be Unraced
