When a favourite win you can rest assure that the second and third paced horses are rank outsiders and horses which have not placed in their previous outing.

When a outsider wins then you can rest assured that the first fave eill run second.

Most of our friends have predicted correctly atleast 2 Races in the Shatin Races - Hongkong. Congrats to all.

I thnk we are more familiar with Hongkong Horses and we are in a position to predict the winner correctly. Stewards there are very very strict. Good competition exists. No gomal or manipulation. 

Still I find thee also our BE SAFE efectsexists. When we expect with certainity the Horse takesa back seat and te same jockey wins when we do not expect and makes a surprise win.

May be these are all part of the game.

tthe end of every day they declare Man of the Match with points winning. They call it Jockey Challenge. Yesterday  Jockey Zac Purton was declared as the winner securing 40 points 4 wins 2 second and 1 third. Fantastic. Most of the unters might have made little money at the ShahTin.

I told one of my friend - a guest to watch the Honkong Races at my home if I were at the Shah Tin I would have made lot of money yesterday since 6 of my selection came through. My friend replied laughingly - That is why you were not there !!!!

By mistake I have pressed a wrong key hence previous posting disappeared from my screen. Fleeting Glances for 10th & 11th Races given below:

10th Race:

Beauty Smile has made a good impression to finish a close second and distant fourth despite a hard run behind the ever-improving Fantastic Show in both C&D starts last month. He must have claims. 

Prime Minister has a task first-up in open company but has flashed ability to win four of five starts in New Zealand and made a good impression to place in his three trials. He's ideally drawn and merits consideration. 

Regency Bo Bo resumes after failing in February with blood in his trachea but comes into this off a quiet trial at the Valley and is always a chance over this trip. Zac Purton should give him every chance from gate three. 

Happy Alumni should handle this trip after finishing full of running to fill the frame in his past three of four 1,200m runs at this level following a comfortable Class Four win in mid-February. He'll likely be spotting them a start but can get up for a placing.

11th Race:

Glorious Spectrum showed his true colours with a hard-charging second to Computer Patch at only his second start following internal bleeding issues and does like this trip. He'll be hard to keep out of the finish. 

Happy Fun was on or near the speed to fill the frame in his opening eight Sha Tin runs up to a mile, including a win and three seconds over this trip, and you can forget his latest after a hard run over the Valley 1,650m following a break. He looks a treat and is the one to catch from gate two under Zac Purton. 

Transcendent didn't get the ideal run latest over this C&D after opening with a win in Class Three and placing in one of two other 1,200m runs in this grade. The booking of Joao Moreira is a positive. 

Band Of Brothers has trouble winning at this level and an awkward gate but rarely produces a bad run and does try blinkers for the first time. He's a place chance.

FLEETING GLANCES FOR TODAY HONKONG RACES

1st Race

Sunny Star defied a slow pace after beginning poorly and with interference 250m out to win his debut going away 100m out last month over this trip and should handle the extra 200m. He can repeat despite top weight. In the absence of Sunny Star, 

Like That was just good enough settling last in a four-runner race to win the second Griffin race of the season. He'll come on further for this run and will go close. 

Smiling Face has kept on for seconds on the speed in both trials and remains the one to catch. 

Chancheng Prince hasn't disgraced in any of his two runs and should get all favours from gate one.

2nd Race:

So We Joy stayed on well to finish a length fourth to This One's For You over the AWT 1,650m after putting the writing on the wall with close thirds twice from three turf starts over the 1,200m and looks right at home over this trip. He's a winning chance. 

Armor Star is only stepping out for the second time and tackling an extra 200m but made a huge impression when getting up for fourth to Gallant Legacy despite being held up for a run until the 100m in his debut 15 days back and will have Zac Purton to offset a wide gate. He'll go close. 

Leap Of Faith disappointed with every chance in mid-January but was a winner waiting to happen in three other starts, including seconds once each over this C&D and 1,600m, and comes into this off three positive trials in Conghua. He can bounce back.

 Witness Hunter has only bobbed up for minor cheques three times this term but is well rated off a light weight and won't have to beat much to place.

3rd Race

Enjoy Life is itching to return to the winner's circle with back-to-back seconds following a switch to the Sha Tin mile, including his latest behind Decisive Action after getting shuffled back toward the rear 1,300m out. Joao Moreira should give him every chance from gate two. 

California Legend isn't reliable but did win in January over the Valley 1,800m off a slightly higher mark and held onto fourth two back over the Sha Tin 1,800m. He likes this trip and is the one to catch. 

Mission Smart stayed on without menacing over the Valley mile latest for his new trainer after doing his best work late in three others at Sha Tin up to 1,400m. He needs to be kept safe with a return to Sha Tin and a good draw. 

Sunny Power has found it harder in his past three starts after a win over the Valley 1,650m but is always capable of a big run over this Sha Tin trip and remains a place chance.

4th Race:

Thanks Forever has been racing well without winning in his past seven starts, including a fourth placing at Group level following a close third to Mr Stunning latest in the Chairman's Sprint Prize. He must have claims with big race rider Zac Purton getting the call from a good gate.

 Hot King Prawn came up a flat fourth after a dream run in that Mr Stunning race but was a C&D winner in Class One over Thanks Forever and Group placed in five other sprints this term. He's the main danger despite top weight. 

Fat Turtle needs to lift at this level but has not missed the placings in six C&D runs and gets in nicely at the weights. He should map well and will go close. 

Wishful Thinker has trouble winning a Group race but rarely produces a bad run, including a closing fifth in the recent Chairman's Sprint Prize, and is a place chance.

5th Race:

Big Brook won twice over a longer trip from six starts in Australia but this giant of a horse has been coming along nicely in his trackwork and trials and can produce a big run on debut here.

 Cruising is plenty capable when right and will likely come on from a front-running C&D fifth to Quadruple Double earlier this month following a tendon injury in September. He can give a cheeky sight with Jerry Chau Chun-lok's 10-pound claim in play. 

Wind N Grass has produced mixed results but did place twice over the Valley 1,200m in March and found the line nicely from the back in a close third to Relentless Me latest over this Sha Tin trip. He needs to be kept safe. 

Good Luck Friend nearly made it two wins from three starts over this C&D when just failing to reel in True Legend carrying top weight latest. The three-year-old will be set a task in a higher class here but is still improving and should get every chance from gate four carrying 15 pounds less.

6th Race:

Sky Darci has made a solid impression in his two starts, including a well-timed win over the smart Rich And Lucky when last in action over the 1,400m in December, and looks to continue his winning ways following a break and two positive trials. 

Gallant Legacy easily beat General Trump racing better than midfield on the fence 15 days back over this C&D at only his third start following a chip fracture in June and tendonitis in November. He'll make it close on the wire despite a rise in weight. 

Kinda Cool will be set a task from a wide gate over a longer trip but was only run down by Fabulous Eight after advancing to the front 200m out in his debut earlier this month over the straight 1,000m. He clearly has ability and Zac Purton is steering. 

Regency Poet has a tricky gate but is clearly coming into his own in his past three of seven starts, including a recent front-running second over the Valley 1,200m, and is a place chance

7th Race:

Yee Cheong Pegasus returns to the C&D of an easy win in February after finding the line well for seconds in three straight runs, including his past two at the Valley. He's a nice pick-up ride for Antoine Hamelin and should get every chance to salute from gate three. 

Xponential has stayed on reasonably well to place in his past two C&D starts and should get all favours from gate four with the claim well utilised. Newcomer 

Cigar Buddies is stepping out for the first time in a competitive Class Four but has been coming along nicely in his trackwork and trials and should get a nice run from gate two. 

Happily Friends has stayed on nicely for fifths in his opening two C&D runs and is a place chance despite a riding change and tricky gate.

8th Race:

Interesting to see if a hard, pace-pressing win over stablemate Furore in last month's QE II Cup will have taken its toll on

 Exultant but he has proven to be a world-class stayer and remains the one to beat in his race defence. 

Furore was closing with every stride following a prominent run in that QE II Cup race. He seems to have gained a new lease on life under Tony Cruz and has the class to get this trip. 

Chefano needs to step up at set weights but kept up a strong gallop after getting away with slow fractions to win the recent Queen Mother Memorial Cup over this trip. He's tactically versatile and can make his presence felt. 

9th Race:

World Famous wasn't beaten far in the end after dictating an even pace 11 days back over the Valley 1,800m in his first start following a Derby disaster in March and has good C&D form. Victor Wong Chun's five-pound claim is well utilised and he can figure from gate one. Charity Go produced a perfectly timed run to win over the 1,600m in January and has run well to place in his past two starts over the 1,800m and 2,000m. He'll likely be ridden for luck and will try to topple them late. Enzemble did beat Blastoise for an overdue C&D win two back and only found a couple too smart inside the last 100m after circling the field to sit prominent mid-race latest over the 2,000m. Gate 11 won't help but he gets in nicely at the weights with stable claimer Jerry Chau Chun-lok steering. Dynamic Eagle wasn't beaten far in his opening two of three Valley runs following a suspensory injury and does like this trip. He's a value play.

Savvy Nine is badly handicapped at set weights but seems to be coming to hand in his past three of eight starts, including a recent second in that Queen Mother Memorial Cup race, and is a place chance.

Please find the TOP FOUR with potential to perform and my views. The working out of DYNAMIC RATINGS for hong kong races is just a trail. It worked first day but failed last week. I have done some more study and posting lets hope for the best.

Analysis= ENCHANTING STAR/FORTUNE TRIPLE/TINKER BELLE are makeing Debut.So cannot comment much. All the other four horses as indicated above ran together in race (621)LIKE THAT won beating CHANCHENG PRINCE and SMILING FACE. But today the latter two are better places vis a vis LIKE THAT.

Any way since there are three horses who are first timers and being a Youngsters race , its not advisable to venture .

2=CIRCUIT HASSLER (596)-SO WE JOY (592)-NOBLE DESIRE (585)-ARMOR STAR (585)

Analysis= ARMOR STAR is just haveing its second run of life. In race (643) when it made its DEBUT, it was dead last to enter the home, then covered horse after horse and finished a easy fourth. IT IS A GOOD SOLID EACH WAY BET.The late rushing NOBLE DESIRE can place.

3=MONSTER KAKA (599)-CALIFORNIA LEGEND (595)-ENJOY LIFE (588)-sTAR SHIP (585)

Analysis= MONSTER KAKA is very consistent. Finished a fighting third lasrt run. is down by 10 pts because of a aprrentice,if handeled well is a PICK UP MONEY for PLACE can upset.CALIFORNIA LEGEND is a good front runner and is down by 6 points can run a bold race.

4=FAT TURTLE (655)-DRAGON GENERAL (641)-WALDORF (636)-JOLLY BANNER(633)

Analysis= FAT TURTLE ran last two races over a mile. It was just to come down in rating, it ran its best race over 6F. Now it has come back to its pet distance and is a danger to the best. But the horse to beat is WALDORF. This horse has a finishing speed that has to be seen to be believed. Its very tidy on Handicap and is a very good each way chance.

5=GOOD LUCK FRIEND (620)-HAPPY TIME (616)-WIND IN GRASS (609)-SHANGHAI GRACE (604)-CRUISING(604)

Analysis= There are three horses makeing their debut (HAFFET ALIAN,BIG BROOK,ROMANTIC COMBO)Its a quite a open race GOOD LUCK FRIEND is quite consistent but its promoted. Also last run it was plooding the last 100 mts.I personally dont like it in spite of the best jockey in HK sitting on it. My eye is on WIND IN GRASS who last run was LAST on turning for home and finished a fighting third. CRUISING with a apprentice boy can be there

6=KINDA COOL (606)-GALLANT LEGACY (602)-QIAPO BOSS (599)-FLYING SPIRIT (598)

Analysis=There are three horses makeing debut here including SCORES OF FUN who is ridden by the HONG KONG champ) Cannot comment much as its their first run.

GALLANT LEGACY won well last run but has gone up by 11 points. I doubt it can defy this Up in Handicap.FLYING SPIRIT and KINDA COOL ran together in race (624) which was their first run in life.KINDA COOL finished 2nd and FLYING SPIRIT was 7th but was not far behind. I feel FLYING SPIRIT will run a betetr race tommorrow. If its more than 3/1 for place its worth the risk.

7=VITAL SPRINGS (626)-X PONENTIAL (615)-YEE CEONG PEGASUS (610)-FAST PACE (604)

Analysis= VITAL SPTRINGS distance is sharp.YEE CHONG PEGASUS is very consisent but it has been gradually going up in Handicap as its been coming 2nd last three runs. I feel it may not be able to defy the penalty.X PONENTIAL is also quite consistent, it has come down by 10 points as a apprentice boy is riding it. It will run a vbold race and a good place chance. FAST PACE made its debut in race (641), it was easy thru out, was last at the home bend and with least effort covered horse after horse with minimum effort from saddle and finished a close 4th. Now it would have improved further ansd is the hors eto beat..
