What Happens To The 3 Year Olds & Potential Champions

By Venkat | 25-May-2020

I was contemplating the 3 year olds who have been forced to stop racing. By now, had things been normal, would have excited many to speculate their future! Racing has come to a complete halt and their future(read owners) is in jeopardy as it does not appear that racing will commence, at best, at the later quarter of 2020. I feel sorry for all the expensive horseflesh just rotting. And what about these wondeful animals?

Undoubtedly, The smart but poor punter is happy. HOWEVER, THERE ARE GREAT MANY OF US WHO DONT GO THE RACE COURSE TO JUST BET. Racing  continues to fascinate us and the adreanaline rush is hard to beat! The thunder of the hooves, the occasional bit of color, meeting old friends is a big attraction. All that is on hold!

It is time, that racing is commenced without punters to begin with. and to put a mrechanism in place for online betting on the tote. The sport must move on or this stall will prove costly for racing.

Cheers

Honestly i was more into racing for over 25 years for the sheer adrenaline thrill ,the best " HIGH" if you can afford to spend money at every race meeting. Besides "HORSE RACING" educated me in the art of "INVESTING" and although i have a "GREEN MONKEY" in my portfolio  i am still top of the business thanks to a education not taught at universities or class-rooms but at race-tracks.Ahoy !

I truly endorse your second para , my 40 years of racing was not just betting  it was the thrill , suspense , excitement , pleasure and the adrenaline reaching cloud nine on the victory of your selected horse..

thanks

Ayyernet sir

I agree with you alongwith hydrabad and kolkata mysore can resume racing at their centres.

Delhi , Pune, Mumbai prime Red zones in the country with figures r going up by 20 percent daily basis.

I wonder wat wil happen to delhi race course which is situated opposite Modi`s House and the current AAP govt is against racing since their setup in politics.

Kolkata after heavy losses due to Amphan must b under renovation and it wil take time.

Mysore dnt hve much covid cases and banglore too is fast recovering.

My personal opinion hyderabad banglore and mysord wil start in july and that too with restricted crowd .

But believe me maximum betting happens at delhi so if delhi not allowing nthng wil start.

Sir what you have said is absolutely right.....the money saved is money earned.....punters are slightly nervous but only some.....majority of punters feel happy.....

Friends:

As of now both Karnataka and Maharashtra Govt may not show any interest and Covid19 is indeed a boon or blessings in guise for the Govt to grab the land from the Race Course both at Bangalore and Mumbai.

We are leftwith only Hyderabad and Kokatta where good relations between the club and the State Govt exists. In all probability we may witness Races again either at Kolkatta or Hyderabad only. This is my personal opinion.

Venkat,

For horse owners, it is really frustrating.  Their huge investment is not giving them any return.  But, why should you bother about their misery.  Let us just clean our bowels!  Stop sympathising with the owners/trainers or the bookies!

Do I sound selfish?  O K.  No problem.  When we are not able to help those struggling owners even a very small token amount (say  Rs. 1,000/-), what is the point in shedding crocodile tears?

In race course we will not only bet;  but also watch the progress of champion thoroughbreds, breath taking finishes etc.   You are really a great horse lover!  In sharp contrast, a race lover is so desperate that he is ready to bet even if gymkhana races are held at Gangtok.

"It is time racing is resumed without spectators"!

I totally disagree with you.  Racing without public crowd?  I can not think of such scenario even in my wildest dreams!

The excited screams "come on.....come on" is great music to us.  Even more melodius than Dr M Balamuralikrishna, M S Subbulakshmi etc.

"Smart-still-poor-punter must be extremely happy"!  I do not know about other race punters.  But generally believe that majority of race punters are happy about the present day stalemate.  There are no races for the past 74 days.  At an average, every punter, who normally bets 1100 on a horse, is richer by at least 50k.  They say penny saved is penny earned!
