Horse race in india is almost doomed atleast for another year,  state and central govts are fighting the virus and have no time to evaluate or allow online betting.  UK , hongkong have online betting and races can be conducted with out spectators as the revenue from online betting is fine 

Just be happy if you are not infected with covid19 , coz infected people can't even find a bed in mumbai.

It seems you are having two persons in mind, SSPP & myself when you talk about 'negatives'. Of course there are other writers also who have understood that race bettng is not viable and are coming with their inputs.

Let me reassure you that there are many 'positives' who are  inetracting in this forum.   Absolutely there is no need on your part to goad them to be more vocal & strident, so that we will be cowed down!

I always warn every punter not to bet heavily.  Particularly the odds on favorites.  

I do not know how much money punters lost on Be safe on the invitation day 2015.  But, I have seen at least two people who wagered 5 lakhs at BNG!  There may be atleast 100 punters at Mumbai/Delhi  who lost  5 lakhs to 10 lakhs or more on Be Safe on that day.

Be safe is not the first horse to lose at cramped odds. Be safe will not be the last horse either to fail miserably as odds pn favorite.

So, you want the races to resume as early as possible.  The BTC is thinking of a truncated summer season (may be of 6 or 8 days) during August. 

Will the BTC management will succeed in convincing the Government?  I have my own doubts.  For a relaively smaller reason (drugging of a horse), the Government slammed shut the BTC for nearly 8 months.  So, we should not be too hopeful of the so called truncated season.  

I do not think the Government will be eager to grant the license.  Forget online betting.   In this era of coronavirus, no body at the State or Central will have the spare time to evaluate the pros & cons of online betting.

So, forget about BTC or the so called summer season.  (The summer season has ended & rainy season has started).  And, one thng that I am 200% confident is that punters will not care about "social distancing" concept.  

Do not cite UK, Hong Kong etc.  There punters have the facility of online betting!

And, what is the difficulty for you in appreciating the efforts of  Government in fighting the virus?  Racing is put on hold!  There are many daily wage employees at turf clubs to whom the racing is question of life & death!  Let them give joint representation.  There is 1% chance that the Government may yield to their demand.  

Are you in loss and desperately depend on races to salvage some money?  Try to be reasonable.  If racing resumes, the only certainty is you will bet.  Whether you will win or lose is in the hands of "DESTINY".  I can understand your desperation.  

On the other hand, are you in profit and want to improve the bank balance??  Enjoy your winnings.  Wait for sometime to resume your betting.  Even I am also eager to bet.  But, our eagerness is hardly an influencng factor in what the authorities decide.

Pray Almighty that there will not be strict lock down in near future!

Lock down 5.0 will be observed more strictly in these 5 cities..Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Poona.  These 5 cities are from the 13 cities where lockdown is imposed strictly.  So, absolutely no option for you but to simply wait.

Will the BTC be able to conduct the races during August.  Only God knows.  I am also eager to try my luck there. 

If racing starts, (that is a BIG IF), then some people may make fun of me .  Absolutely no problem.

Mark my words friends RACING IN INDIA is now a dead game with no chance of revival.

No one points a gun at any one to go for races or bet with bookies.

There is no forum for Casino bettings losses  which are many times that of racing still people flock at casinos. All is purely voluntary  and cribbing against any form of gambling shows a narrow mind state. 

Why not smoking or drinking  which is more harm ful for health.

BTC  may start  from 01 aug unless things worsen. Mr negitves can  stay at home  or show their frustration here by keep writing like they  have been doing.

The concerns of the majority  of racegoers  is racing is not conducive in the present scenario.hence look out for other viable options.what is there before us to  ponder.ambiguity.sense of deprivation and above all helplessness.what plagues the racing fraternity to come to a consensus is anybody guess.if they don't work in tandem and forego their egoes the day is not far from racing being extinct .

@ RUCHI,  I think you are one of the top brasse in the HT like Ragavanji and SSPPji  contributing valuable inputs keeping in mind the intricacies of the punters as well as the sport which is highly appreciable.

Not only BE SAFE, there are so many odds on favourites which flopped in the past thanks to the nexus by the dishonest and criminal minded crooks .  Perhaps everyone know whom I mean.

Due to Covid19 , many essential services like shopping malls, jeweleries, restaurants, lodging houses, educational institutions, are still under lockdown. Under what essential service does this gambling sport come so as to suggest for early resuming, I fail to understand.

Does anyone in the HT brief me upon this.

I do not believe, that Bookies add to the excitement. Infact, most of the dreadful stuff that happens at the races are because of bookies. They can become tote operators!!

My take is that if the clubs can organise like its elsewhere abroad, racing will get a lot easier to manage and have fun! Horses are wonderful atheletes and when they run it sets my blood racing. Like fine cognac!

More than the punters the bookies must be frustrated with the pandemic not allowing races to take place 

The reason behind this is that even if racing resumes in india it will be conducted without spectators and in ring book makers. Punters will fancy their chances with the online betting pool but how about the bookies? Hard to believe this but racing will not get back to what it was . Those craze for horses will not be seen with the same intent and I feel that this is going to worsen the situation Even more

The panademic has just peaked,there are more than 10,000 cases per day abd likely to rise further.

It's time to forget racing for next one year atleast and BE SAFE.
