Start Racing

By Godzilla | 15-Jun-2020

Racing in Bangalore, Mysore, Kolkata and Hyderabad can start, as there are negligible number of cases of Covid in these places.

We should be brave and keep the countrys economy afloat. Look at America, although more than a lakh of people died, they have opened up and business as usual.

If the Racing Industry approaches the concerned Govts, I am very much sure they will give permission for Racing to be restarted. The various Govts need money, at this hour of the crisis. Racing industry should start and contribute at this hour of need.

Keep sipping hot water every 15 mts. Simple method to keep Covid at bay.

Race clubs should start thinking about starting race with a strict dress code fully covered with damage control dress to all the people entering the race courses.

Racing can be started if all the punters, jockeys, trainers, racing staff and bookies agree to enter race course completely covered by NBCD (nuclear biological damage control )rig.the rig can be made available outside the race clubs for less than 1000 rs.

Yes, races should start for livelyhood and entertainment of many people.

Let the schools and colleges open. More or less with the same norms and conditions races will be permitted by the Govts. First of all Central Government should give permission to states if they desire they can start races.

Racing for the few months may never occur , government of all states are having headaches to contain the virus so it's impossible to hv racing online or at the course which a few only want , for those who are like mania type to still have races through this pandemic effecting millions in India it's like dreaming of heaven in hell , take your backpack some pillows , sheets and food  , and water to sustain your body  temperature and sleep next to course dreaming of races

I feel any entertainment zones will be confined for restriction where there is mass gathering even though there is big revenue for government. They cannot take it lightly.

To start racing without the crowd is not a big deal for the clubs as the people working with the horses are all quarintined inside the stables. But the question is if the races are run without punters it would be a revenue loss for the clubs and no betting no income for clubs. Also how will the owners make money to cover their expenses without betting. Reducing the GST for horse racing is something which the govt might never approve according to me as in the current senario govt will never cut of incoming tax from anywhere. And they are aware that end of the day this GST is for the common man the Owners are going to bet with bookies all cash no GST and God knows if bookies even take tax from big owners. End of the day it's just the punters who face the music in GST. Clubs need to pay the GST but end of the day it's paid by the punters in the tote irrespective they win or loose. It's printed with the code. Racing is in delema at the moment and honestly speaking only punters are the people who are at NO LOSS. It's like a breathers for all punters. The expenses which the owners are going to bear now is going to pinch their pockets bez they have invested money in horses which need food exercise and medical care which is all paid and with out betting the owners are getting no returns. Let them also take some hit. It's the curses of people which has hit the owners for the first time. As far as the people working in the race course if racing stops it's not the end of the world they can go back to their village and continue with their life. But racing will ONLY start if the vaccination comes in place. Which is most unlikely till 2021. So the racing is not depend on GST it's depend on the vaccination. And as far as the online betting in India is cobcerned even if it comes into operations it will Flop bez as I said till the money back plus dividend is not given it's going to be playing for peanuts.  That's when bookies will come to picture.  Anyways take care and stay safe. I am very happy racing has taken a break due to this virus and punters can enjoy their time with family and be away from gambling for some time. Take it as a breather.

Coronavirus is at its furious worst in Mumbai, Ahmedabad & Delhi.   Its sweep is only relatively less at Pune, Chennai & Kolkata.  So, at this time, if any one moots the idea of resumption of races, we can only pity him.

It is not only stewards who decide whether to resume races or not.  The Government has to approve any proposal either for or against races.

We saw how indisciplined the public can go when sale of liquor was okayed by the Government.  On 4th May 2020, the social distancing concept was shot to hell by the public.  There is not even 1% guarantee that the same public will maintain social distancing either at bookies stall or at the tote if Government approves resumption of races.

At Bangalore, we can only pride about the low count of coronavirus cases.  But, it is a moot point whether the count will continue to be low if racing is allowed.  Just two or four patients is sufficient of infect the 5000 strong crowd in one week.

People are vociferously demanding online betting.  Yes.  That idea is not bad.  But, nowadays, if one has to bet on races, he has to necessarily present himself at the tote or at the bookies stall.  Let us ignore those energetic persons who can bet through phone from any corner of India/world.  But, if online betting is introduced, then all people from any part of the country can bet.  So, if online betting has to be introduced, then it can be done only by Central Government.

I do not think the Central Government will have patience and time to look into race betting.

Even I also like that racing should start as soon as possible.  But, will not pester the State/Central Government to look into the aspect on a priority basis.  Let them decide on this issue taking their own sweet time.  No body knows whether racing will be starting in two months or five months or one year.

The only faint hope is that BTC is hoping for a truncated summer season from August 2020.

BUT, why should we be so anxous to start the races?  99%, bookies, rogue trainers/jockeys only will benefit.   Among punters there may be a very small number who may be in no loss zone or a very marginal plus.  So, why this shrill demand for resumption?

RACE BETTING IS ALWAYS A LOSING PROPOSITION.  IF ANYONE IS CLAIMING PROFIT IN RACE BETTING, HE IS CHEATING HIMSELF.

Coronavirus might have slaughtered many.  Millions might have lost their jobs.  But, give the devil its due.  In respect of punters at least, it has ensured that during last three months, their money is still safe.

Today i am forced to agree with govt"s stand on banning racing through high gst norms as no person with the slighest common sense and education would never even think of getting racing started during such pendemic where lives are being list daily through human to human contact.  punters who see no sense in a little sacrifice for a year or 2 should be slammed by total ban of racing and encouragers like manhendra singh rathore should be given a  legal notice to stop youtube mongering on his views which r not even backed by any racing club. Ban it till we have a vaccine in india.

Corona is not end of our life. All activities should start one by one. It may take some more time to start but races will be on before this year. ( Same person is writing in two names ).

In my opinion, the idea of resuming horse races during this pandemic period  is obviously senseless, illogical and contrary to all reasons.  The upward trend of positive covid19 cases is causing much worry.  It is not known when will it come to an end.  By the time we reach zero point , a great number of precious lives would have been lost.  We have to decide between life and death. Hence it is absolutely necessary to putup with the inconvenience for some more time. It is foolhardiness to believe that the  situation will be back to normal automatically. The virus will stay and we need to fight with it.

If the races are started at this juncture,   the situation will be aggravated and may go beyond our control in containing the virus.

Heaven will not fall if we are unable to punt for few months. Let us spend  our hard earned money  to our family  members  and  have their blessings..

         Stay blessed with all happiness.

A senior punter like Godzilla should at least try to get his facts right before posting.

Bangalore is no position to hold races. Number of containment zones has increased multifold in last few weeks. Number of recoveries is falling down in Bangalore compared to rest of the State. The worrying fact is percentagewise deaths are more in Bangalore too.

A government which does not allow more that 50 people to assemble for marriage and 20 people at death,  can hardly be expected to allow thousands to congregate for racing

.The racing officials know it. Very intelligently they are keeping their heads down,  hoping that things will clear soon! Just because some degenerate punters are desperate,  racing cannot commence!!

To avoid crowds, initially ,entree fees and minimum betting amount by one ticket ,must be very much increased, let us say to Rs 500. To. 1000. After few days or weeks they can consider these rates if necessary.Than no poor punter will be robbed (as few others think they are robbed). In my opinion especially the inter venue betting tote centers also follow the same ticketing system. Very happily the races will run.Races are rich people’s game only. It’s kings game.  I think races will start soon, some where else,in August first or second week. Then let us enjoy the sport .
