Four In A Row Puts Purton On Top For Fourth Champion Jockey Title At Hong Kong

By S C Sharma | 24-Jun-2020

Today at happy valley, HK night races Australian jockey Z Purton put the champion jockey title issue beyond doubt and dispute at rest with his brilliant riding performance of  four wins in a row ( winning last four races in a nine race card ). Apart from this his one mount placed third and one fourth. The  highlight is his three mounts won in a very close and in a tight finish with his rival J Moreira and the result could have gone either way even in JM's favour but ZP was at his best. His winning victory- march started in sixth race with Highland Fortune when he able to beat favourite Sky Darci ridden by JM in last few mts after fighting all along last 300 mts in straight at a tempting odds of 6/1. Than in seventh race ZP rode a brilliant race on Star Shine to win at 7.50 odds. Eighth race his mount Alpha Hedge was favourite and was quoted at 2.75 odds for win and beat JM's mount Shamport in very close finish. Nineth race ZP won on Victoriam available at 6.50 odds for win .  ( odds calculated as per tote dividends ) He  kept his mount in striking position over a sprint race and able to snatch the victory from very fast finishing JM's favourite  mount Winning Method who alerted little bit late but that's the riding beauty and judgement of pace in a sprint shown by ZP.   Z Purton now took his tally well ahead with overall 7 wins lead at 136 and his rival J Moreira is on 129 wins and in view of Brazilian J Moreira's one day suspension on 8th July things looks easy for Z Purton to claim HKJC fourth title for champion jockey on 15th July.
I thought today's day may belong to J Moreira as I gave him three good chances for win as his mounts were better compare to previous meetings. But he won only one and lost three in close finishes with very narrow margin to Z Purton's mounts. It happens. Racing is not as we predict each and everytime, more so at Hong Kong the winning percentages of predicted horses is low but racing is fair and exciting and enjoyable.
I wish to congratulate Z Purton for all his brilliant show of riding skills and he is winning very hard fought races due to his vigorous and undieing efforts. He always keep trying till winning post and never accepts the defeat till last stride. Well done ZP and wishing for many more successes and laurels. Tons of good luck and duwaas from my side. God bless you Z Purton.

Some times wonder why only these three or four jockeys keep on winning races in HK..Its more like Sandesh Trevor Srinath and Suraj here

Its sure boring and one sided

Am sorry if u r enough experienced in HONGKONG races....

The effort by PURTON is to be acclaimed beyond doubt...but it's quite common in Hong Kong that a single jockey, on his day ,rides more than 3 or 4 winners....We have seen TEETAN and also unexpected ones like M F POON and N CALLAN do the feat.

It clearly indicates it's all part of the game. We can surely expect Moreira to bang again with multiple winners in a day and get closer to Zac,  however that happens when all punters lose belief in him and reduce their wage on his mounts...

Whether it's HK or Tampa or New castle or RWITC,    Its HORSE RACING my dear friend.

Regards

Rksh.

In continuation of my above post I wish to congratulate Mr K W Lui trainer of Z Purton's four winning mounts for his hard work and keeping the horses fit and trim. Now he is also in serious contention of trainer's championship title with this big jump of four wins in a single race meeting and his winning tally of this season stands at 59 just two short of leading at top of the table P F Yiu at 61 and A S Cruz is now at third place with 57 wins with a single win yesterday. So the trainer's championship issue still remains very open and excited with only six meetings to go. Good luck to this trio for their title battle and once again many kudos and compliments to K W Lui for yesterday's great achievement . God bless you all.
