The 241st running of the Epsom Derby (Group1) over 2400 mtrs. Track condition according to the clerk of the course-- excellent. Thunder showers likely on the morning of the race day.

From he 16 declared runners, my take is that there are 6 serious contenders for this top race : as big if not bigger and more prestigious that the Kentucky Derby to be run sometime september 2020.

The 6 are :

1. English King (Dettori);

2. Highland Chief(Atzeni);

3. Mogul(Ryan Moore);

4. Max Vega(Harry Bentley);

5. Kameko(Oisin Murphy); &

6. Russian Emperor(Seamie Heffernan).

An odd tidbit- English King is drawn 1, which according to the english tabloids, is a tough draw as only 3 in many years have won from this draw!! As if it maqtters, as they have to traverse 2400 mtrs- enough time to position the horse.
