By S C Sharma | 05-Jul-2020 The most recognisable name and longest serving trainer at HK the Australian proud J Moore celebrated the days highlight today at Sha Tin, with his hat trick of wins in race number eight, nine and ten and eighth and tenth race winners were ridden by champion jockey Z Purton and nineth race winner was ridden by another popular jockey J Moreira. J Moore awarded trainer's licence at HK in 1985 and he treats Hong Kong as his home. He is retiring at the end of this season after granted special permission for training horses for additional five years and upto the age of 70. He is not in championship race for this term but his tally improved to 56 wins after todays hat trick of wins.
He will be remembered for producing some best horses like Beauty Generation, Able Friend, Viva Pataca, Rappor Dragon, Designs on Rome and Werther. He states about his success " I have the ability to buy horses from all over the world that make HK racing proud. He spent more than 35 years in HK . HKJC already declared a life time achievement award for him and arranged a felicitation function on 16th July to honour him . The seven time champion trainer at HOng Kong, J Moore winners tally exceeds 1730 -- more than anyone else in the history of Hong Kong racing.
The top three trainers for championship for this term won one race each today to remain at the same leading position and the current statistics after todays races stands as follows: P F Yiu 64 wins, K W Lui 63 wins and A S Cruz 60 wins . On the other hand the top two jockeys Z Purton won three races today and J Moreira won two races today and Z Purton lost two races narrowly and J Moreira finished second in one race and third in three races and lost close battles. Jockeys position for championship stands as follows : Z Purton 141 wins, J Moreira 135 wins and K Teetan remains at 88 wins. In remaining three meetings J Moreira is facing one day suspension on 8th July, hence will not be able to ride wednesday's night races at happy valley.
