P F Yiu And J Moreira Stole A March At Sha Tin, Hk

By S C Sharma | 12-Jul-2020

Finally the hard work of trainer P F Yiu and his assistant trainer  ( his son ) Eric's fresh ideas worked and the picture of trainers championship become clear today at Sha Tin, HK with a nice treble by P F Yiu through 5-7 Natural Storm, 9-1 Super Oasis and 11-2 Good  Luck Friend and Yiu now leads the table with 67 wins to K W Lui and A S Cruz  who both are remains at 63 wins . A S Cruz with his double in race no 3 with horse no 3 Circuit Hassler and in race no 8 with horse no 5 Mr Aldan piped second placed K W Lui . With a nine race card framed for concluding day races of this season at Happy Valley on wednesday the 15th July,  no miracle can change the scenario for trainer and jockeys championship which looks certain now in favour of first timer P F Yiu for trainer and fourth time for Australian racing maestro  Z Purton, who also won two races today. Trainer D J Hall was another one who  won two races  today.

In my today's race picks I mentioned that the new entrant to P F Yiu's stable his son  Mr Eric helping him a lot and finally the son and father's hardwork paid the dividends. I congratulate both Yiu and his young and energetic son Eric for this great achievement . It was Yiu's desire which full filled after long wait of 25 years. This is his first championship title at Hong Kong after serving as a trainer at HKJC for more than two decades.
As also mentioned that position of jockeys championship was clear before today's races that Z Purton is assured of the title for fourth time at HKJC and he too deserves full compliments and congratulations. Today also he won two races but J Moreira was the champion for the day who stole a march with his three wins and at the end of today's races final tally for jockeys stands as follows: Z Purton 145 wins, J Moreira 138 wins and K Teetan 91 wins. The late season suspensions kept JM away from the championship, otherwise the battle would have gone much closer. The final tally of trainers table stands as P F Yiu 67 wins, K W Lui  63 wins and A S Cruz 63 wins.
