Will Future Racing Be Reserved For Privileged Few?

By Cruise_b'lore | 17-Jul-2020

Hello folks,

The news filtering in suggest that near future racing will be conducted on-line. Quite obvious then that there will be no entry for common punters.

Under those circumstances the only way to view the races will be through the paid sites of individual race clubs. Will the access be only for the ones who have subscribed?

My personal opinion would be have it telecast free to one and all as that would keep the interest of racing alive even with the common punters or am I asking for too much?

Your opinion. folks. Do send in them fast and quick.

Mr. B.V

You're missing the point. Does everyone have International debit card? No right.

I'm not an merchant or agent, but yeah, you need third party merchants to buy cards which can be used for betting. That too in RUPEES. No one said that if you buy for e.g. Astropay card you should have DOLLARS, POUNDS, EUROS, etc. If you've done a transaction in Rupees you'll get your amount in Rupees only.

Thanks

Cruise. Long back I used to buy Annual Almanac released by Original Vel publication ( 100 Rupees) and used to store them along with old racebooks. After being called by my Wife as a PACK RAT. I threw all the racebooks out, and never carried the Race Book home.  Some details posted here out of memory only.

Hello Kolramsri,

Nobody on Horsetalk asked you to join horse racing nor has anyone asked you to quit racing. You did it out of your own free accord. There is no need to tom-tom about it.

At the same time, please do not belittle the ones interested. Feel free to pursue your new interest, if any.

Mr. Ayyarnet

It's very simple and lil complicated process. Indian debit or credit cards are not accepted by bet365, betway, betfair, etc. But you can buy a astropay, neteller, skrill cards. I personally use astropay card to bet. You need to buy astropay card from any astropay merchants like Morpay, ecardoutlet, genuinecard. I use Morpay to transfer as they have a little less fees as compared to other merchants. For eg. If you want Rs.1000 in your astropay you need to transfer Rs.1111.11 to their account through bank transfer or debit/credit card. And they do verify your KYC before transactions once you Register with them. That's it, once you transfer they'll get you a astropay card within 10mins. And you can use it in bet365, betway, betfair, etc. For withdrawal it's the same process.

To deposit 'Buy Card'. To withdrawal 'Sell Card'.

I hope it helps.

Thank you.

Hello folks,

It would do good if all the race clubs telecast the races free for a initial period of 4 to 6 months, Then they can revert back to the previous way once normalcy is restored.

As it is the pandemic has seen the interest of many pubters fade. To keep their ibterest alive, as also for the die-hards along with the ones who follow for the charm of it. That will keep the spirit of racing alive.

If not, the chances of a gradual fade-out is very much a distinct possibility. Many have already lost interest because of the poor payout at the tote due to high GST.

All racing clubs must factor in the above and make telecast of races free for all. Hoping they would be sporting enough to do so.

Ever club should get online betting permission from repective states and they should conduct like one tote one window  for all states... Only oncourse betting bookies should allow with min entry 500 and betting amount 2k to 5k  10k separate Line to reduce rush inside club. And for online betting after and before Race 5 min advt promotion to generate revenue to maintain online app and website.. Etc.. Opinion pls

Common sense. These clubs are now dependent on tote players to sustain that online betting. Unless they get the input(What the hell is going on at the race time) they cannot simply throw the money as if they throw coins while passing through a river. So, the live thing is as necessary for the small tote punter as well as the petiwallas. The clubs have to make the live thing available even to the 5 rupees online tote punter.

At Bangkok course public is allowed to bet max 50 bahts only, to save poor from getting financially damaged. It is the best decision by great King Bhumibol Athulya tej. Black markeirs are there doing it through kickboxing arena but legally not permitted.

The club has provide free on line telecast otherwise it is of no use. Ordinary punters cannot afford.

Real estate sharks are waiting to grab the land in all States for a long time. Time being races should start without spectators. Everything will be back to normal after few months.

Cruise. Horse Race and Betting for privileged people only. For them, a day's loss will not floor them. For the majority, it is always fighting against the invisible. I can speak only for myself. Right from 1967, I am in racing, with a break from 1986 to 1993. What useful knowledge gained by me during the past 45 years of actively participating in Racing?. A big Zero. Now the Providence was kind enough to give me a Deaddiction program and decided to use it. From March Thirteenth, not a single rupee escaped from my pocket towards Gambling. Now, only distant memories lingering, and I decided to obliterate. No withdrawal symptoms at all. Now there is no difference for me whether they race in BTC or Majestic Circle.

One more hairbrained idea of charging for live racing. World wide it's free and that encourages the punters to play. Here they want to charge so that a handful of fixer owners pay and make hay while the sun shines. Hanky panky by owners and trainers will go unnoticed as the public is not there to catch them. It's best to boycot racing in the present circumstances until we can get a true and genuine feel of what's going on. Committee should think what they are doing instead of earning a bad name for themselves if they are not involved in running the racecourse as their private bagecha.

According to me, the key to successful racing 'behind closed doors' is enable a video straming at a reasonable cost o us, the common punters either by subscription or by daily payment in lieu of the entrance ticket. Secondly, the on line betting system must be robust enough to handle pan India traffic.

I agrre that racing or as a matter of fact any sport cannot survive wihout we ordinary folks and the club will committ harakiri if it made it prohibitive for us. I am sure wise counsel will prevail. Simultaneously, the clubs ewither individually or by a common association such as as TFAI must once again represent to the FM with regard to the penal GST. I doubt a complete picture has ever been presented to the Government such as he agricultural, horticultural industries, animal husbandry employment of vast semi skilled and unskilled labour etc. The potential gain o the economy as a major partner and the serious down side in the event of closure or doownsizing!

Best

5 buck bet says poonawala - should be atleast 10 times more 50 bucks minimum -  look, like you have joint ventures/owners -now punters will join and share the online expense the small bettors - even the midium size bettors might team up with a bettor - so cheer up guys start preparing to make 'nothing out of something'  just kidding - its a chance to be calm and bet-all said and done ...dangerous ball game .

Cruise - Entry FEE to view live races and bet is inevitable - I expect 700 per day entry for mumbai races 500 for bangalore - gate ticket money, rent charges bookie/canteen broadcasting  etc need to be covered-  one area they will earn is advertisements -  hopefully its not done at the cost of paddock viewing .

Look I answered to the point cruise,no room to grumble -

Already Indian people are habituated on line playing thru Bet 365 & other various what's app group betting. Here is the question raised if clubs starts online betting people will not attract due to huge taxes & gst whereas private & illegal bookies are already operating online activities before covid itself they are not taking taxes so people will never play (most of the people) we clubs online betting & there is scope of publicity in the market if we play thru clubs on line. betting there will be no secrecy, punter wants to play secretely mostly like so many issues, main important thing is on line betting needs bank transaction (required PAN & AADHAR NOS) who will dare to come forward for this proposal we will wait & observe what clubs strategy regards on line betting after their rules & regulations only we have to think, in my opinion in India online betting is not successful as like abroad.

If it's free live streaming then 1000 s will register and bet at the same time improving revenue for the horse racing industry and the taxes to government, but if it's like paid to watch , then it's dooms day for the Indian racing industry, Corona virus will still go on till it fades rapidly I predict only in 2023 and if , if there are vaccines to cure it , with laying of jobs and unemployment , and companies liquidating due to this virus and still many more to come job troubles to come  , I feel the best solution is free streaming of live racing , if at all arrogance is applied onto the racing fan to watch and pay , then pay more for your sins , no one will tolerate the racing administration no more , frustration is already at peaking heights with all the looting and malpractices afflicted to the poor punter in the years gone by  , no more patience, it's do or die , this time the punter has the upper hand

There will be no damage,  If no entry is given for common punters in the newly proposed online betting.  Rather it would be a welcome news for them ,as it would pave way for revamping their lives from the past loses.  Let them avail this opportunity to rebuild their life in a constructive manner.  Already they are leading a contended life for the past few months due to no racing activities..

This is what our learned SSPP has all along insisted relentlessly for the past few years.  Let his dream come true at least now by the grace of COVUD 19.

And let the rich people continue to enjoy the king of sport as usual risking their health and wealth at the curse of their kith and kins.

           Good bye.

Horse racing is a mass sport and not an elite game.the common punters are the backbone of this magnificent sport you cannot deprive them of their entertainment quotient.

Online betting is the need of the hour.  Sooner or later race clubs and the govt will have to  accept this reality and its benefits.  Its reach and connectivity and easy accessibility is the reason for it's success.  If you want to make it more popular and a effortless revenue riser for the club and govt, than you have to make free streaming of live races and free radio live commentary for one and all. The example of HKJC is before us. How successfully they conducted races even during corona pandemic without spectators and still continued  their charity and welfare programs and offered best stake money to the owners and remained in profit. Where there is a will, there is a way.  I am optimistic and always hope for the best.
