Why Do We Need Indian Racing?

By Race-goer | 20-Jul-2020

I am watching foreign racing live on internet's youtube. There is a chat section on the right-hand-side of the picture and many of the chatters are Indians. They have opened accounts with Bet365 and other betting sites and are happily playing away. The chat is also interesting with the watchers putting forth their selections.  The races, especially the UK races, are quite engrossing - the horses being far better than Indian horses. Remember, our champion Desert God could not win even a Class 3 race in the UK - let alone win, he did not come in the first three either. When races are going on (albeit in foreign countries) and online betting already exists and is available to anyone in India who has the knowledge and facilities to open an account with the internet betting sites, why do we need Indian racing? This is my question and I am interested to know the opinions of our esteemed race-players. Please let me know. I am hoping the administrators will put up this very pertinent post of mine on the website.

I am a race goer since 1989, and to me you need to analyse which particular venue/centre compliments your punting skills.

You need to observe, learn, hone your skills with respect to pedigree, paddock looks, odds, Jockeys, Trainers of a particular centre in a country.

If you just want to take chances / try your luck, then it is a different ball game.

I am talking of a professional skill set to be developed, for a beneficial outcome, for serious punters, who consider it as a profession.

It really doesn't matter where this wonderful creatures are raced, as long as you have developed some familiarity / skills pertaining to a venue / centre in any country.

Please don't get carried away by the plethora of options available, due to the technological advancements, and work on your basics first, before you venture.

Its about betting/gambling -  another thing is familiarity with horses here - money has to ride with the jockey and horse.

Racing in Australia and the UK are special.

You need to study the fitness by assesing the progress of the horse and the going the distance it ran ,before taking a punt.

Take the case of Masar it was 4 th but came with a late run easily in the Qipco Guineas won by Saxon Warrior it has ridden hard as it can by Ryan Moore and the media and public in the UK called him a beast he eas quoted 75p for the Epsom derby.

It lost badly placed 4th ,never won a big race after that,

You must know to handicap and have look at the video before taking a punt.

Place is a super bet givne the decent odds u get

Use ur head u will never be big minus

I will still say Indian racing you can win and not UK racing . Any horse can win in Uk , u can't make days best bet there , I beleive only in India betting is easy , ( my orders india , Sha tin , Australia , USA and last is Uk ) just don't burn fingers playing those open races in uk , watching wise the best horse racing not punting wise

Mr harish reddy,

Desert God did run in England, not once but many times, and has rightly been said, did not place even once in class 3 races. Before you try and correct someone, please get your facts right.

Desert God is falsely promoted and many races are gifted  to boost its value. When sent abroad true color came out. Even after returning from abroad also one or two racesare again gifted to maintain itsstatus quo

This is the main problem in Indian Racing. We do not know the true potential of a horse many times due arrangement with vested interests.

Hello Race-goer,

Racing is not just about gambling. Well, if you are one who treats it as such then there is nothing much to argue. But, if the same is for gambling, sicialising and enjoying the thrill, then Indian racing is a must.

The passion that is aroused. Example of that is of Be Safe in Bangalore after relocating from Malesh. You had to be there to witness the ovation given to him. Everyone emphatised with him because of his inglorious defeat in Invitation cup to Quasar. Many felt he deserved to win but, that his rider chose not to do so.
Another would be about Set Alight's defeat in the Indian derby. There was all round condemnation for to the quality of ride given.

There are many more such examples. So, in short, racing is not justabout gambling but about passion too. To experience that one needs local racing to happen.

regds,
Cruise

Race Goer pl think before inking. Indian Race Industry employed more than lakh employees and their life's are depending Racing in India. With available sources, Facilities, our Breeders are bringing out best of yearlings. Upto Four year olds our Indian Horses are good in stamina, spped, power etc. But at later stage they are prepared for different type of racing coz of Owners, Trainers interest.so don't blame Indian Racing. This industry shd be flourished well and come up at International levevl. foreign Jockeys who visits here appreciated our Training and abilities of our horses.

Races at U.K,Ireland have there own significance and definitely cut above the rest of the world horse racing centres, however Indian racing is no more that much boring what you have mentioned in your post, let me correct you Desert God did not ran at UK, Ireland,he ran at DUBAI, unfortunately with the right handed curve bend at budai didnot suited him well and this let to his failure,in my opinion Desert God is a great horse ans i particularly love Indian racing alot because we come up with diverse range of locations in our country, when racing  calender at majority centres comes to conclusion in March every year they come up with OOTY races and Bangalore monsoon season which gives us a different sort of lovely experience and we are the only nation to have 60+ stud farms unlike our besides nations like singapore,Hong kong, malaysia, Thailand etc still dont have a single studfarm at there respective nations and purchase yerlings from Australia, we are definitely very good in many aspects and also worst in some aspects, when we look at the things with broad perspective we come to know about all this things; unfortunately because of covid-19 we lost this year's OOTY season and Bangalore monsoon season, there is no proper vision for many club the then chairman's to have a online betting access in our country;thus resulted in this lockdown of horse racing in our country. .

Hi Racegoer, Nice to read your post. Racing anywhere is a come-and-lose affair, no matter how much restraint you show. It's all about remaining in minimum loss. Do you first agree with this? Why Indians wish to play racing in India is only because they feel they are better placed to track the horses, judge the riders and study the mood of the connections. In foreign races, these so-called 'advantages' are not there. To tell the truth, even foreign races don't bring profits. For instance, take the recent Hong Kong races. Although three riders won a big number of races, not many people really made money. This only goes to show that in horse racing - be it in India or abroad - making money is far from achievable. You may make but that is only to lose. Strangely, not many punters are ready to accept this fact. Even S C Sharma has been claiming since lockdown that it's easy to make money if you be 'responsible', 'patient' and play with a 'perfect' strategy. As per such claims, only they are perfect and all the losers - which will be easily 95% of the punting community - are fools. Come on ! First, he must come out with his daily balancesheet once racing starts. I can vouch that people like him can never make plus even in one season. However, they will pose like 'Godfathers', whose every word of advice must always be accepted and never opposed?

It takes time when we bet races for another country, First, we need to know how the races differ from India, We need complete information about a bunch of horses in a race to pick a handicap horse

Information provided by the bet 365 for a race card is insufficient when compared to Indian races with bol race cards / any other cards in India. can you suggest one of the best race cards to bet the foreign races, and how to understand that race card what indicates what?

I hope you will get back to me with good suggestions.

Waiting for your reply?

We are very convenient with our Indian logics and Indian horse, it takes time to understand other countries' logics, trainers, horses, bread, stud farms, tracks, etc...
