1-3 YAHALLA - Just had couple of runs. Should perform well this time.

2-3 ASTRAL STAR - By Multidimensional. Missed the break in 1000 guineas can be ignored. Will be a different customer this time. It has to beat Divine Chakra who is consistent over last two runs over a mile.

3-2 GHOST - By Winlegend. Distance is not an issue. Suraj on board is ++ Kimaya who is very consistent and on board most of the times over a mile. This distance should suit. I think should be in fighting line.

4-7 GENTILLESSE - Won well over 1200m 1:12:56 by 4L. Extra 200m will suit. Won coupld of times over the distance in Mumbai impressively. Dandi March never travelled over 1200m. Big Star and Louboutin might fight for minors.

5- 2 DELPHINI - By Bated Breath. Last run was a first run, must have come up with that run, sure to perform well. Should be able to win this time as many are first timers.

6-1 KNOTTY ASH - Beat most of them. Should win again.

It is Kolkata Derby Day.

I think BLACK PEARL should win the race, notwithstanding the OAKS win of ZOYS few days ago.

Anyway, the race will not be offering much by way of betting. So no bet in the Derby.

Coming to bets:

Race 1 ---  6 -- NANDINI'S PET --- Trainer has entered 4 horses in the race. This horse looks good for a PLACE.

Race 2 ---- 1 -- DEVINE CHAKRA --- Can be backed for Win, SHP and PLACE.

Race 3 --- 2 -- GHOST ; lost out narrowly to Avellino. May reverse that verdict today.

Race 4 ---- 2 -- IZZY --- Failed to place on the board in last two starts but was not too far behind the winner. With P S Chauhan in the saddle, may score today. PLACE bet.

No bets in Race 5 and 6 ( Derby )

Race 7 --- Here my selection may look odd. I am going with 8 -- LESREL. It was backed in the race won by Knotty Ash but was 7th out of 7 runners. About 6 lengths behind the winner. Today, this horse is carrying 4 kg less weight and Knotty Ash carries 2 Kg more. That is a 6 Kg advantage in weight over Knotty Ash. 

If this race was a handicap race, with a rating of 112, the horse would be carrying more weight than the presenr 55 Kg mark. 

If handicap is to work out, LESREL should win. But there are elements of class and luck of the race, so I will go for only PLACE.

Race 8 --- No bet in this race.

The 6th race again a cracker of a race today. Very open and very competitive. i was tempted to just add my views on this one. firstly the DYNAMIC RATINGS of the TOP four,( normally i take the TOP four and then Analise them only(

Here this race is so close rated that the first five are within a gap of 5 pts.

6= KNOTTY ASH (650)-LESREL (645)-AMOROUS WHITE (642)-AWSOME ONE (642)-PRINCE SATSUMA (642)

Now coming to the nitty gritty. There are (8) runners. on first look i would eliminate TUTTANKHAMUN (Long lay off and its more suited over 7F), ARECA LEGEND and INTO THE SPOTLIGHT ( both these would like to race freely in front. since we have a speedier AMOROUS WHITE, i feel ARECA and INTO have no ghost of a chance.

That leaves (5) of them as mentioned above and all are closley rated.

Next i would see P SATSUMA v/s AWSOME ONE , bboth are actually 7F experts and this race with its hot pace will not suit it especially P. SATSUMA. AWSOME ONE any way it was earlier a very speedy type and won a few races over 6F but off late its a late rusher and would prefer 7F.

So i would ELIMINATE, P.SATSUMA from this pair and still keep AWSOME ONE in waith a small chance. Next  just take a common horse AMOROUS WHITE to compare with others.

At kol last season LESREL (54) beat AMOROUS WHITE (60) , by 1.25 lengths. A. WHITE finished a fighting third. Today LESREL is 55 and AW is 56.  Definetly AW is better placed. Also this season last run AW (59) beat LESREL (59) out of sight in race(56). I conclude that AMOROUS WHITE will definetly finish ahead of LESREL. 

So, now we have KNOTTY ASH/A WHITE and AWSOME ONE in the race.I still feel the hot pace set up by AMOROUS WHITE may not suit the late rushing AWSOME ONE , so the race boils down only between KNOTTY ASH and AMOROUS WHITE.

Another factor is over the past 1.5 years both KNOTTY ASH and AMOROUS WHITE have been alloted a Handicap of around 60 kgs. That speakds volumes of the consistency of both these horses.That means they must be so genuine in their running that the handicapper hasnt the slightest oppurtunity to allot them weight leass than 60 kgs.

Last year AMOROUS WHITE has carried 65.5 kgs and run second once and won once. KNOTTY ASH i had mentioned last time too has matured and now settles and then warms up with great speed. AMOROUS WHITE for the first time in 1.5 years is carrying a weight lto the tune of 56 kgs ( as in today)

CONCLUDE: Race staright between KNOTTY ASH/AMOROUS WHITE. AMOROUS WHITE will surely be 2/1 for place , can be a good prospect. Hope AWSOME ONE does not warm up and remains contented with third spot.

The DISCLAIMER is this is just analysis based on theory and past runs ,in racing luck of race and the way things shape up decieded the final outcome.So, may the best horse win.

1-2. JINSOKU

Was leading till the bend over 1400m with Cliffhanger, (the evenrual winner) who is also running in the Derby today. Should now be able to win this from ABENAKI, going over 1200 metres.

2-1. DEVINE CHAKRA

2nd to both Cliffhanger and Namiki, talented youngsters of this centre, over a mile and 1400m resply, is now ready to tackle this batch.. Only threat is INTELLECTION, who has also run in good company.

3-2. GHOST

Should complete his hat trick of wins in this season. Had just lost to AVELLINO, who is also eunning in this same race, @ 30p. Hopefully, Suraj will redeem those losses.

4-7. GENTILLESSE,

Came from the rear of the field, to win drawing away over 1200m, as a rank outsider. Is poised for an encore, given the extra 200m. Watch out though for RAINBOW TROUT, a Pune import, who is also showing out in the morning trials.

5-7. DELPHINI

A good second on debut to Jake in good timing, should emerge from the maiden ranks. Keep an eye on LADY LAURANE, who is brilliant in her tracks.

6-5. AWESOME ONE

A close 4th to some of the best horses in the country, in his last outing, is ready to take on the speedsters like KNOTTY ASH and PRINCE SATSUMA.

7-4. ZOYA...........................DAY'S BEST

In my opinion,, ZOYA, a Multidimensional filly, has both the class and the ability to break BLACK PEARL's unbeaten record,  In the Oaks, she beat Silver Bracelet, winner last week, VIOLIN, Guineas winner, and Priceless Silver, the highly rated filly from W.India.. Friends, you may not agree with me, but I fancy ZOYA to win the Detby in taking style. though this is no way to belittle BLACK PEARL, After all, it's horse racing and Suraj is in the form of his life.

8-10. COURT JESTER

His front running essay with Black Pearl, over 1600m, was very eyecatching. With 500m less to travel  now, should make it a start to finish affair, TASCH is good for PLACE.
