Strange Are The Ways Of Racing

By Cruise_b'lore | 16-Jan-2021

Hello folks,

The change of rider on Zoya did surprise me a lot. I can fathom no reason for the connections to change the winning combination ( Zoya - Dashrath Singh ). He rode a peach of a race in the Oaks. Dictated the pace well and drew clear of them all in the final furlong.

I was taken aback upon seeing the change of rider. What prompted the connections to change the winning combination. I fail to understand.

If somebody does then I would appreciate the reasoning behind that.
As of now I can only say - Starange Are The Ways Of Racing!

It was wrong to  run a thoroughbred  in 2 derby  distance  races  within a  fortnight , 90 % of  them  have  lost the  next  race. Running   a sprint  race  is  different ..

Hi Cruise

You are absolutely right. When a jockey knows a horse well he should not be changed. I was hopeful that Rochester who won the Ruia Cup, the owners do not change the jockey and luckily they stuck to CS Jodha. The rest is history.

Yes not as impressive as expected. Trainer lacked proper planning. The Derby had stakes offered till 6th place and there were only 4. This trainer had so many horses to run here including Court Jester which ran all over the track in the last race. The trainer probably was of the opinion that slow pace will suit and so never deployed any pace makers. If 2 or 3 horses from his stable had taken part and run a solid race, Black Pearl would have run better. Its run today looked pedestrian and though the jockey didn't use the whip,it had to be pushed and goaded to beat the stablemate. It's earlier wins all appear to have given a false look of invincibility, maybe due to the rest of opposition being mediocre. As per today's run it is another Kolkata horse. Let us see what the connections think and what they decide. Incidentally, the Indian Derby usually run on 1st Sunday of February is now slated on the last Sunday of February and Ruia cup is being slated on 1st Sunday of February. So Black Pearl can test the waters in the Ruia cup itself.

It  was  sad  race  but both  jockeys are okay  fit  to  ride.

An  umpressive  win by  B. Pearl  I  do  not  think he  will be  going  to MUM.

Trevor was  put  to  give  Better  odds to  bookies even  with  him The  place  odds  were 2.25.So  i do  think  she  would  have  been  on  board.

Wheather (1) Black Pearl will WIN or (4) Zoya will WIN but now due to Trevor on Zoya, odds of Black Perl will be more.

Does it matter who rides on whom as long as Black Pearl is in contention?

Yes you are right. Have you noticed that Sandesh and Trevor have not ridden on the same day this season in Kolkata. Sandesh is also not coming to Bangalore except for classics. Why Sandesh was changed on Adjudicate in Invitation in the first win? Why was he was engaged to ride all races in Kolkata which it lost and again replaced by Srinath for Invitation 2nd win? All the races in which Sandesh rode, the winner was Star Superior. Last meeting in Poone,Revelator was ridden by Paramar and Sandesh rode Gloriosis which is still getting prepared for a longer distance race. Sandesh is riding all Sunderjis horses and Revelator is a last outing winner. I can go on quoting but the truth is the declaration is remote controlled.
