Half The Classics Gone And 'speaking Of Which' Has Nothing Much To Say

By Cruise_b'lore | 20-Jan-2021

Hello folks,

More than half the winter classics are done and dusted but the gets of Speaking Of Which are yet to make their presence felt. Rather disappointing considering that he is standing at the most successful stud farm of India,

He did have 2 classic winners in his first crop to salvage his pride in Gift Of Grace ( Indian 1000gn ) and Sir Supremo ( South India derby ) but none forthcoming in current classic racing crop.

About time Ms Ameeta Mehra did a rethink about getting the premiere stud farm back on the radar as relying on Speaking of Which would not be a good bet.

I am sure she will do something by procuring a stallion to get her stud farm back into the hall of pride.

My personal opinion is that the offspring of Speaking of Which, who is by Invincible Spirit, will be more of a miler than a stayer. Hence, the longer classics appear to be out of his compass.

Given Ms Ameeta Mehra's in-depth knowledge of the breeding industry she will certainly have a plan B in place.

I do hope that I don't sound like I have spoken out of turn.

regds,
Cruise

In present day racing scenario, breeding plays second fiddle in India. Big owners are elusive and the present owners are not as keen as the older owners in winning classics and big races. Breeders still day dreaming that they can sell their stocks with breeding credentials when it actually not happening due to farce racing that is going on over the last few years. If you observe nowadays more new mares and their gets are coming and the proven mares gets are few. Breeders have started looking for off springs from new mares with a hope of getting a good or extraordinary foals. Unless, the racing scenario gets revamped with more merit, breeding will have no role and the breeders have to cover up the foals with their colours only and start a roulette for winning classics/big races among themselves.

Hi Punters , Speaking of which surely not showing classy indications compare to Multidimensional .. Starting when I was observing this breed for longer distances , there was not even one race it has matched a good clock time for 2400 mtrs ... Rosina oaks winner but again not a good clock time , surely it was an improvement for this breed but not enough .. then Wizard of stocks , after giving runs for 2 seasons n as well as it won on Tuff track like Bangalore , after such training also it managed to give clock time 2:30 secs in Indian derby ... As of now it can categorize for class 3 ( longer distance ) , above that we have to neglect or wait till a superior horse emerge from this breed which will have a better clock time , atleast below 2:30 secs .. Who knows a horse may emerge like War Hammer or similar to that..  Air Support is also not impressive but it gave us War Hammer ... Patience n Time will tell us the answers .. finally Speaking of Which has that capacity as per breed concerns but a proper mare has yet to come or may be a foal has already ready , just waiting for a race track to show who is his great sire .. Thank You

Speaking of which did not receive a good book of mares in her second crop. How ever he has cover many group winner mares in 2019 and could expect good results in 2022.

For your kind information

DEAUVILLE Son of GALILEO  a  G1 winner in the US & G3 Winner in UK is purchased by USHA STUD FARM through NEW APPROACH BLOOD STOKS & will be standing at USHA STUD for the 2021.

Speaking of which is proving dud and l don't think speaking of which will do anything in future. Ameeta mehra should concentrate on multidimensional the best and champion breed of Indian horse racing in every distance specially for the classic long distance .

Yes. You are right. I also expressed same views sometime back.

Even Win Legend is also not a long distance one.
