One Who Dares Wins...

By Chanakya | 11-Feb-2021

There is a saying in English - One who dares wins...

It is truely applicable in this game....

In this game like in any other field/game we find 'players' with different ideas and attitudes and notions. Some think it is a 'means' of making some 'quick' money; while some pessimists think that it is a game of losing money - but why are they they there they can not explain. There are few who thinkthis game is an ocean wherefrom they can continue catching 'fish ( i.e. easy money)' till eternity....

Well, all of them with their different shades of opinion followers are perfectly 'right' but may not be correct everytime or all the time....

WHY?

Because the perception of this game varies differently for these 3 main categories - if we ignore their subtle variations.

Quick money makers are omnipresent- they will come and go, will again come and go and some of them will always be there - with some hope.

Pessimists, who think and know also that they are losers will also come again and again with their sob stories till eternity with a faint(?) hope to recover(??) the loss(!!!) which due to their stupididty - rather ignorance(?) was inevitable.

In addition, there will also be few who will come again and again and will NEVER STOP coming...

They are those who think that they can win and live 'forever' on the winnings of this game. They are/were ALWAYS FEW and will ALWAYS be few.because they have learned/understood/realised - how to spot(catch) a WIN situation or opportunity...

Most of punters go ga-ga when a favorite wins and pays 4/10 or 8/10 or somtimes 7/4.

A favorite will NEVER pay 10/1 or 300/1 but a fluke who was as good on ' that day' can and did pay...

A fluke winner will never come forward and prove his credentials for everyone to see - even if he does ordinary punter will either run away or bet on a favorite or may not et in the race but will not touch the 'fluke' who has/had equal credentials as the favorite.

But when we dare and go AGAINST the flow - either we will get drowned or will reach the shore with the booty 'to live long there after'...

Ther are many examples but I will give only 2 at this time from current Bangalore season.

Bangalore- 16/1/21- race no 90 (card no 2) I gave (7 11 12) open race. No 7 won and paid Rs. 338 at Bangalore tote.

Bangalore- 25/12/20 - race no 71(card no 7) ; winner - Poseidon (no 3) paid Rs. 3071 beating the favorite. If you do the speed( race no 133 of 19/20 season)rating by ANY METHOD winner comes out better than the hot favorite.

The lesson to be learned is :

Those who dare will be winners - today, tomorrow and ALWAYS...

Golden Viper,

Chanakya has revealed one greatest secret.  Even if you lose 30 bets  if you win one bet at odds of 30/1, your loss in the 30 races will be wiped out.

Horsetalk members were not aware of this secret earlier.  They should say 100 thanks to Chanakya, who has revealed this secret.

It seems he bets only 30/1 hoses.  But, to me it is a mystery that he once played place bet on Malavika.  At odds 1/4th of the win odds.  The win odds were at 2.75/1.  So, Chanakya argued that he must be given 0.70ps odds for place.  The bookie agreed.  The horse finished third.  (In a six horse field).  He claimed the dividend & the bookie PAID THE DIVIDEND.

So, Chanakya also plays at odds of 0.70ps.  It is not that he bets only on horses that is quoted 30/1.

Bold legend:

Chanakya is running a tutorial class where he teaches handicapping secrets to his students.  The fees charged are 20000/- per day plus cost of lodge bill, bar bill & restaurant bill.  And you are asking 100 questions and expecting him to answer all, that too for free!

Ab-delhi,

Agreed, everyone  has his  own  way  or  method  or  a system o  select  his  bet. No  argument  on  that.  But  selecting  an  outsider  or  a  fluke ( as  they call it)  to win  and claim or  say  that  it  will/may  win is  the point  I'm  trying  to  make.

Raw time  is  only a  stepping  stone or a starter or  a  begining point which  has  to  be  modified with various parameters, penetrometer, class average, trackwork and  few  more varaiables to  arrive  at  a  'VALUE' which  should reflect  the  merit  of  a runner. It  takes  time - several hours; because  I  do it for  ALL the  runners  of  a race and  this does  not  alow  me  to  post  detailed  explanations for  my  choice - except  their  numbers  in  order  of  priority...

Your  point  about  Grey  Channel is  valid , IF  WE  IGNORE  the CHECK AND  INTERFERANCE  suffered  by  Poseidon  during  the   races no  133 & 148  run in  1m 25.2s against Grey  channel's  1m 25.0s. 0.2 seconds is  roughly  equal to  1.2  to  1 1/2 lengths... does  a  check is  equivalent  to  this much  only. Decide...

Regarding  class V  race. I said  earlier and reiterate  again that  raw timings can not  show or  give  true  merit of  arunner  it  has  to  be modified by  various  variables. Based  on  this Hawkins was  coming outstanding  in  my  ratings  but  I've  a prejudice against  a  'no  whip'  claimer and has,  perhaps never given  him  my  first  choice - except  clubbing  him with  others either  in  a  jodi  or normally  in  an  'open  race'..

refer races no 178 for  Hawking,  50  for  song  & dance and 32,168 or  68 for  happy  dancing - Hawking  comes  out  far  better  after vaiable  adjustments...

One doesn't play for a cup of coffee or a glass of beer. Hope one has played to earn enough for his vaccine, so that one can peddle garbage for sometime more.

Long live the fradulent King.

Chanakya very well explained. See every individual has his own way of selecting horses and u will find winner in every system. I dont know which system you follow but since you are trying to justify your  poisidron on timing I will like to tell you that GREY CHANELL  in the same race had better timming than poisidron 1400 mts in 1.25.01 sec on better pe netro. It also had the weight advantage.had a better jockey. You did not see the timming of other horses because poisidron won. Hoikkaido had a better timming thanNORTHERN ALLIANCE a class 1 horse running on the same day under simmilar condition.

Now comming to your selection Hawking which won on 16 jan in second race. It was a class 5 race . when SONG AND DANCE AND HAPPY DANCING had much better timing than HAWKING then why did you like HAWKING.

The point I want to make is when a long shot like poisidron or hawking will win it will have no justification. You like it amd you play it is good but please dont try to explain why it won.

Bold Legend, ,

You  expect  too  much  for  free! I am  posting  my  'selections'  which  I am  going  to  bet.  I am NOT asking  anybody  to  follow these unlike  some  other tipsters...

Why  should  I  give  reason/(s) fo  my choice?

@ all,

there  are  some posts which  are  meaningless and  deserve  no  response. Any  post  which  is critical  but based on logic and  facts  will  be  replied  to...

golden viper,

The  one  who  dares  wins -is  the core of  this  thread. How  many these  types  of  bets  have  gone  down  the  drain - you  asked. Well,  many -perhaps  70  to  80% have been  lost  but understand  that  those  20  to  30% have compensated many  times  over  the  loss  of  those attempts. For  example  the win  of  no 7 in (7  11 12)  has neutralised  the  loss of  30  straight attempts...

My  interest  is not  to  earn the  money  from  races  to  buy  a  cup  of  coffee or  a  glass  of  beer  but  much  more  and  that  can  not  be  achieved  by  betting  on  favorites  who  succeed  not  more  than  30  to  35%. 2nd. & 3rd. favorite  success  %  is  even  lower  than  the favorites...

Ab-delhi,

I don't  have  to  prove  anything to anybody, because I play to  win for  my  own  benefit . My intention in this  thread  was and  is  to  highlight the  weakness of professional and  amateur tipster  to avoid  to  tip a high-priced contender even  though  he/she  may  be equally  worthy  of  win. I did  not  play  Poseidon but  used him  to  highlight the fact  that  his  merit  was  better  than  the  hot favorite Hokkaido if  the experts  or  tipsters  analyse  the  race  carefully. For  example,  he was  iconsistently  running  1400m in  less  than 1m 26seconds in  race  no  133 & 148 of  previous  season - inspite  of  being CHECKED  on both  occasion. Even  in  current  season  his raw timing ( race  no  13) is  better  than  Hokkaido (race  no 24) at  similar  penetrometer  values...

Furthermore,  winning  one  fluke  in  10  attempts  is  far  better than  winning  ten   on  money  favorites...

Golden Viper, Chase, Champ etc.

I would like to clarify on one confusion.

On 25/12/2020, Posiedon won and BTC paid dividend of 435/- for a tenner.  The dividends shown in result page of Indiarace is probably the dividend paid by Betindiaraces or some other betting site.

On 16/1/21, in 2nd race no-7 Hawking won.  And paid 338/- at BTC.

Chanakya has tipped (7, 11 & 12) in that race.

Chanakya has given the tips no doubt.  But, felt as if some has applied mirchie on him.  Because no one cared to cheer Chanakya on that tip.

In sharp contrast,  we have seen many people cheering tipsters like Captain cook, Ruchi, Godzilla etc.  So he wanted all horsetalk members to recognise  or acknowledge his (Chanakya's)  supreme talent & aptitude in picking winners.

Is that the case of horsetalk members being unjustifiably partial to some tipsters whom they cheer profusely and totally ignore Chanakya altogether?  I do not think horsetalk members are biased or having any grudge on Chanakya.  Chanakya posts his tips at about 5 or 10 minutes before the start of 1st race.  And, by the time his tips are published 2 or 3 races would be over.

Whether his tips are profitable to horsetalk members?  I do not know.  I do not see any tips from any tipster.  But, one thing that I am 100% confident is no body can be in profit if that punter is following Chanakya.  No body can bet in excess of 250 horses in a span of 20 or less race days and still be a winner.

MR CHANAKYA

There should be a limit to double speak. You are expected to give the reasons BEFORE the race. You tip numbers without giving reason but once the races are over, you become very wise and explain in detail. Why don't you do that while tipping? Perhaps the dare factor is lacking then.

Next Indian Election will be an open election. X Gandhi, Y Kejriwal & Z Kumar are my choices.

Oh, what a great psephologist I am.

When you go throogh my three pronged choices in every other matter, you'll find that I suck & am among the most pathetic choicemaker.

But, hey I know to coin two sentences in English & peddle the same sour wine in different bottles.

What a great psephologist I am.

We  accept  your  one  odd example as  long  shot  winner  BUT

How  many  such  bets  by  you  hve  gone  down  the  drain?

Racing  has  become  mugs  game and  trainers  play  cat  and  mouse  with  you.  Take  CAl  for  example. Suddenly  a  horse  sports  wings and  wins.

No doubt  avoid  odds  on  favs as  returns are  poor.

I  stick  to 2nd  or  3rd  favs It  has  given  me reasonble  returns not  Pot  ful  of  money.

I  ewnjoy  racing  not  to make  money  but to  ensure  no  losses also

Bold  Legend,

your  'observation'  is  incorrect, because  as usual you  have  made  it  without  checking  the  facts . My  choice  for  Bangalore  race  no  90, - (7 11 12)  open  race was  posted BEFORE  THE  RACE WAS  RUN, not  after the  race.

check  the  tips  thread...

Mr Chanakya  what u want to prove that u r regularly winning by playing those long shots. You claim to have mastered the art where you know a 40/100 favourite is equal in speed rating to a 100/1 horse. This is so great. Did u play poseidon because u did not tip poseidon then why do u claim its speed rating was equal to the fav after the race. Justifying the winner after the race is very easy. You are trying to justify poseidon based on one tip u gave on 15/01/2021.Everybody gets those long shots but tipping and playing are are two different thing because u dont know when such a fluk will strick . u miss so many and u get one.

Racing is all about favs.either u play the fav or u lay the fav.either way u should have a good  strike rate to win in racing.

Wild card entry,

Yes, experience gained by  initially  betting  small and  learning  from analysis  of  failures paves  the  way  to  success and  that  is  the  only  way  to  succeed because no  bookish  knowledge can compete  with  practical  experience...

Bold  Legend,

 Your  'observation'  is  incorrect.

On  16/1/21  I have  posted  my   choice - ( 7 11 12)  open  race;  for  Bangalore  race  no  90  BEFORE  RACE  WAS  RUN. Check  it  on  that  date's tips  thread...

@ Iconjan,

You are right, a good  handicapping  system  will  always  help and enable  a  punter to  remain  afloat. This  game  is  forgiving  for  those  who have  good  knowledge, patience  and  can  take  calculated  risk; otherwise  it  is  ruthless and unforgiving for  those  who don't  understand  the  'game'...

Daring are those who post their thoughts BEFORE the running of the race.
What to say of the ones who post AFTER the race their daring observations.

I feel one should undestand the way the race is conducted on that particular day, chances of fluke winning or favourite winning this study can be read on long run by wagering small bets until you have the knowledge of studying the races. you should master the tricks of each and every race, even if you feel hot favourite with even money is going to win, some day the in formed horse will tend to loose because of the connection between racecourse owner trainer or jockey but we punters are helpless cannot do any thing , neither bet big on even money favorite for ex bet 10K and earn either 2k or 3k is there any logic in getting this amount one is taking risk instead play calculative risk with small bets neither on even money or on longer odds.

I would rather tell only your study and understanding the race wagering small bet will make you interesting for this wonderfull game. you hate once you loose money you win even though you feel i have lost only small amount on that day but your predictions are near to win next day, after deep study and the mistake you have studied the previous race day.

What an apt article. As an almost every time winner and a contrariion I enjoyed the article. People usually bet  past races and get a surprise when another horse shows up.it takes good handicapping to project the new contenders and the way the race shapes up. Chasing money when losing is sure to add to the losses. Stop wait for another day. The game is forgiving if you have patience and a plan. Stay away from vertical exotics.

Best of luck.
