Riding On Saffron Art

By Godzilla | 04-Mar-2021

iMy Observation

In the 2000 mtr Race, Jockey Ajeeth Kumar positioned his horse Saffron Art next to Surajs mount Mirana, with an intention to move forward once Suraj accelerates, forgetting AK47 was 7 lengths in front of him at bend on Peaky Binders. When he realized that AK47 was keeping sizeable lead and Suraj not showing any interest and accleration, he started accelerating from 300 mtrs. Net result Saffron Art lost ta certain Race.

Lesson to be learnt:  A Jockey should take his own decision to position the horse in a Race and accelerate without depending/watching on someone-elses moves.

The greatest Jockeys india produced are:

Vasanth Shinde, Aslam Khader, Pesi Shroff, M Narredu, S. Narredu, PS Chouhan, Trevor, Sandesh,, Suraj Narredu, Akshay Kumar, Neerajwal

in the recent past who used take their own independent decision in riding mounts. .

Its a different matter, AK47, followed his own method and won the Race.

Ruchi you are so right. Non of the current riders are a patch on the old masters with Vasant topping the list of Indian Greatest rider.

I have to agree with Mr.Ruchi.Present day riders are no match to yesteryear greats. They are not to blame for this.Compared to the past , racing has gone too soft now.The number of sportive owners have dwindled over the years.See the classic scean and you will understand.

If the jockeys make their own decisions and if lost, they might get suspended for not following the instructions given by the trainer

Stop fault finding in each and every race, being championships last day how do you think that the champion trainer and jockey to go blank

I am new to horse racing after seeing fall of many jockey's  and even demise of Mr.Jeetender Singh, I feel being a jockey itself a courageous thing . ofcourse risk of injury is there in every sports but in this horse racing it's quite high so it's easy to judge them but still they are greater than any normal persons like us. Honestly speaking we will like our son to become a cricketer or tennis star or doctor or engineer but not jockey because we know the risk involved. So we should giving them the respect they deserve and ensure no derogatory words and no comparison as everyone of them unique.

Ruchi

It would be nice if you avoid aggresive criticism on any matter, leave aside the one on Indian Jockeys.

You can explain your stance in a much better refined away. That will sound good and pleasing to read.

Peaky blinders had credentials to win the race. It had faced better company in the Oaks when it was beaten in the last 200 mtrs or so.

On jockeys.. Godzilla sir..all above so called present greats are no match to

VASANT SHINDE,ASLAM KADER,JAGADISH(the gentleman rider), Shamu CHAVAN,P.KHADE,NELSON REUBEN,REMEDIOUS,BREN DUFFY,EDDIE CRACKNELL,JOE MERCER,BRAIN FOY,FAGGATOR,ELDIN, JOHNSON,WALLY SWINBURN,LESTER PIGGOT.

The so called top indian riders like SURAJ,P TREVOR,NEERAJ,PSC,S JOHN and even the over hyped AKSHAY are basically duds..no real talent so they shine by contrast.

Absolutely right. Most of the jockeys (B grade) never make their own decisions as per requirement. They simply follow instructions and mess up many times. Application of mind can't be seen in most of the jockeys. Barring a few seniors, remaining ride per instructions. I understand jockey needs to follow instructions but when things go the other way most of them lack plan B.
