A paisa odds or up to 2/1 or say the totes favourite wins then the equation of the said tote payment is given points to the contestant, but if a contestant selects a choice of over 7/1 and above then I feel what ever amount the tote pays , a bonus of 100 points can be added to the said contestant tally of the said race  , no need of place to be involved , this could motivate the contestant to to select longer odds for higher payments rather than  a odds on favourite

       I am hoping that I am allowed to comment because I don't tip and so not involved in any competition. If I am not, please disregard this posting.

      In another thread you had mentioned that Hong Kong method of points is used for jockeys. 

      Skill of jockey required in winning Class VB race and Classic is same and Hong Kong method may be good for jockeys. For punting and tipping, I feel yardstick is ROI so any tipping competition should be decided by dividends. 10/1 winner cannot be equated with 4/10 on winner.
