Will Invitation, Sprinters And Stayers Cup As Well As Super Mile Be Held This Year?

By Cruise_b'lore | 05-Apr-2021

Hello folks,

The dreade Covid-19 restrikes and the first casualty, apart from human toll, for sports, is Horse racing.

The same did happen last year but by then all the major events had taken place ( all the derbys as well the Invitation Cup ) but unfortunately, this year the last named happens to be due.

Now the question is - Will the Invitation cup be held, albeit a delayed one, be held or not?

Rwitc has not addressed this issue and just posted a general notification that remaining races has been called off.

Any idea folks what will be the fate of this year's Invitation cup?

regds,
Cruise

Dear Godzy,

Very sad to learn about the bereavement in your family. My heartfelt condolences..

I am sorry, but my numerology is restricted to horse racing only. so I really can't throw much light  on Covid-19, and its likely disappearance. from our planet earth.

Regards,

BKD

It's a shame that Racing can't continue at Mumbai even without public under closed doors... But Walking / jogging / chitchatting on Race Course can continue in full fashion... Can't understand this.

Guys

I think Covids target is 1/2 million people [deaths] in India this year. This is going to happen before October 21. Great Astrologers predict this figure.

By November 21, we will be Covid free. This is numerologists prediction.

Both are in the same line. This year, No Invitation event will happen. Thats that.

Everyday in the morning, I pinch myself to see, whether I am alive. Thats the situation prevailing in Chennai. I lost my brother and sister in a gap of 10 days, last month due to Covid strike at Chennai who were otherwise very healthy. My daughter in Philadelphia US survived Covid attack after suffering badly.

Ruchi/BKD whats your prediction as per astrology/numerology.

Friends

Hurried Business is indeed burried business.

It is time that the authorities should think calmly without any bias and decide what can be done under the present scenerio.

what should be done. Our (punters) suggestions are invalid they will never listen to our suggestion.

They have to take every point into consideration.

It was a ridiculous dissision to have the oaks and Derby 3 weeks apart and thus the invitation was to be held in the sweltering April. If the Oaks and Derby were run like it is normally run the invitation would also have been over. The entire plan backfired for some due to this. If held like it was to be Forest Flame would have won both but this was poetic justice.

Very sad news , but there are alternatives, it can be conducted in Calcutta but it's a big toll as owners will have to shift horses and their staff , with corona all over the country it's going to be difficult , knowing all this the Invitation cup should have been planned earlier , they could have cancelled last weeks races and had the Invitation instead , anyway deserves them right , too much swindling and set ups in racing , I mentioned this last year and it happened the corona came with a wretched bang and banged up the clubs , now again part 2 punishment it willl keep happening now as long as fraud in horse racing is taking place , but why step mother treatment to this sport , what about the IPL will be on every ones mind , well it's simple Cricket is India's biggest fan followers sport and the way it's played these days is filled with clarity and honesty and people are watching , while horse races especially Mumbai lots of ill will and tricks , deserves them right , the punters will get some relief , I feel this is the last nail in the coffin for all races to come at all centres , just my opinion

Yes if all the clubs can sit and talk in that direction. The possibilities they can think are:

a) if Bangalore summer gets a go ahead,it can be held at Bangalore summer meet and the next can be allocated to Mumbai. But, Bangalore is caught in HC case with their dungeon like stables which amounts to cruelty to animals. Whether they will get HC permission?

b) since RWITC has already budgeted for the event, it can arrange to be held in any other centre with some or whatever contribution the host can give and make it still a bigger event.

c) it can be held in POONE season if Covid crisis comes down and permissions granted by government.
d) Ooty had never had a big event. Instead of holding races without spectators, RWITC and MRC can think of having it in Ooty. The track will be also a challenging factor. The overall expenditure will be low compared to holding in other big centre. Nearby there are two big cities, Mysore and Coimbatore and the connections can have accommodations. It will be also be a good advertisement for the sport which has lost its past glory.

Cruise Bangalore,

If invitation cup is not held this year, heavens will not be torn apart.

Mumbai races were conducted at Pune till 21 Feb.  I only hope that they will not resort to run Invitation cup at Delhi!

So, that leaves BNG or MYS as obvious venues.  Whether they will run Invitation cup at BNG before the start of regular season has to be seen.  As things stand, pandemic threat is on the rise at Karnataka too.

In 2008-09 winter seasons in India started late because of virus among horses and restriction on their movement. Indian Derby was run in April 2009 and RWITC did not schedule Invitation Cup races though it was their turn to host them.

It was the breeders who took initiative and one day Invitation Cup races were conducted at Hyderabad late in October 2009. So precedent is there. It will depend lot on breeders and whether summer/monsoon racing is held without disruption
