The future of Mysore Race Club is at  a crossroads, The lease of the 139 Acre land that expired in 2016  was left unrenewed till 2019. The agreement was eventually renewed only at the fag end of the Congress-JDS government, before the present BJP Government assumed office.

According to the petitioner, the lease agreement was renewed on terms and conditions detrimental to the Government and hence was casuing a loss to the exchequer.

The Court in its latest hearing has given the Government 1 week's time to respond on what the Government intends to do. Taking back the leased land by the Government being one of the option. It remains to be seen what will be the eventual fate of MRC.
