The current form of the horses in the reckoning are given below:
BOLSHOI BALLET: Won both starts this season over 2000 metres. Last month in the Derby Trial Stakes at Leopardstown he beat the Irish 2000 Guineas Winner Mac Swiney (placed 4th here) by over 6 lengths for an impressive win which has made him favourite for Epsom Derby. This horse is the only entry of Trainer Aidan O’Brien in the Derby and he is the most successful trainer winning 8 Epsom Derbys so far. JOHN LEEPER: Ran twice this season over 2000 metres winning both races in a somewhat ordinary set. Meeting outstanding horses here and may struggle to keep pace. However the most successful jockey in recent times, Frankie Dettori, is riding John Leeper and he can get that extra from the horse needed to win. MAC SWINEY: Won the 1600 metres Irish 2000 Guineas by short head in a hard fought race beating Poetic Flare, the winner of 2000 Guineas in Leopardstown. But his run in Leopardstown Derby Trial losing to Bolshoi Ballet was disappointing. MAHAAFETH: Ran once over 1600 metres and twice over 2000 metres this season and won all of them. A force to reckon with in the Epsom even though last three wins were in poorer company. HURRICANE LANE: Unbeaten so far. Won both his starts this season over 2000 metres and 2100 metres. Bred to stay and a sure threat to favourite Bolshoi Ballet. THIRD REALM: Won both his starts this season which included a 2000 metres and a 2300 metres races. He is the Dark Horse who can be upset winner of Epsom Derby at long odds. We should all gamble responsibly. A responsible gambler is one who sets monetary limits for playing, plays only to the extent losses are affordable, never chases his/her losses and does not bet when angry, upset or depressed.
