He retires at 50 and taken up training, but met with many hidrences with ruling authority and lost almost 5 years including 1 year in jail. But after his release he told a simple word
If I stick to my known job always felt happy trying into new arena may not work good to many.
He came back to riding and scored 13 group 1 races in two years.

31-May-2022Best to my memory it was the year 1995 when Lester Piggot ridden a filly named NORA for trainer Altaf Hussain. As the distance of filly was max a mile and was carrying top weight was available at 6/1. She taken start to finish to win. Diablo was fourth and one Bezan Chenoy horse with J Lowe in saddle was second. The card was big aound 16 horses and for last 400 meters all were trying to catch the filly. But Lester Piggot given her an amazing stretch and was won by a length or more. The race was a million before one or two weeks of derby of 1995. If someone is able to get the recording then please share.

30-May-2022The legend passes away but his deeds will be forever etched in the annals of racing history. He is one of the very few to have ridden classic winners in many countries, including India, across te world.
He won the Epsom derby and that feat is unlikely, forget about beating, to be matched ever.
My silent prayers for his soul.
P.S. It is rather inappropriate but I can't but help recant to Munesh that Lester Piggot did after riding Speedbird in the derby. He told her connections to retire her to the stud farm forthwith upon her dismal performance.

You are perhaps referring to Scorpio, trained by Bezan Chenoy for Dr Vijay Mallya. He won a juvenile race with him during the Indian derby weekend,

30-May-2022His exemplary riding on Delage in Invitation Cup (Chennai --1989 /1990 (?) ) is etched in my memory forever. The Race truly should have been won by Romantic Dancer (Bajrang Singh Up), who had a clear run on the outside. Delage was boxed in with a wall of horses in front. In a crucial moment a gap got opened and closed, but Lester Piggott was quick to take the opportunity and won the race after a duel. The connections of Romantic Dancer thought that Bajrang was a trifle late in putting his mount in top gear and that led to his parting of ways with Deepak Khaitan camp. Lester Piggott was about 57 year old then.
I also remember him riding Vijay Mallya horses at Bangalore and Mumbai.
His seat and riding style were a joy to watch.
RIP

30-May-2022Hi,
Lestor piggot was a Legend, was fortunate to have seen him ride in India once, he rode Nora a sprinter, I think trainer was Altaf Hussain to victory over 1400 meters at Mumbai, the odds were 6to1, one of the horse from sait was the favourite. He took it start to finish. What a wonderful sight to behold.
