There were two Pandeys at that time R Pandey and K Pandey. BOTH there mounts have been at longer odds and I could make good money by backing their mounts.

While R Pandey used to ride vigrously and win, K Pandey used to win when leased backed.

RIP RP.

Rajeev Pandey had his best days during his apprentice years. He weighed only 42 k g. Many mounts came his way and he rode them very well,  sometimes challenging big jockies in the business. On one hot afternoon, I remember him fainting on the track, after dismounting from the horse. Dallas Toddywala himself came down and carried him to the medical center. 

   As it so happens,  Rajeev Pandey stopped getting good mounts,  once he lost his riding allowance. I guess life would not have been smooth for him,  in the later years. Jockies donot know alternate profession and life is hard for most of them.  

RIP!!!

He is a talent un used by trainers. An expert in breaking horses and preparation. If concentrated in riding at any other centre he might be champion in 90's

I could never forget his fighting ride on JUNGLE GIRL in december of 1997 against HOT FANCY - PROSPERIOUS ridden by PESI SHROFF. It was a photo finish. I had my BET on JUNGLE GIRL @ 5-1 after her back to back sparkling track work in the same week.

An Excellent Jockey....RIP.....

Have not seen him or heard but Jockey death always makes me feel broken. May his soul rest in peace. Hope the turf authoritys will take serious concern and come forward to his family for any assistance. It's my humble request as human.
