I. FOR HORSES RATED 1-26
1200 METRES
1.COPPER: I wouldn't touch a horse that had gone lame in its last run. Certainly not in its very next run.
2.EASTERN EMPRESS: Oh, my God! Whatdayaknow, she too had returned lame in her last run.
3.CHETAK: Got chucked out of Pesi's stable and then met the same fate with Neil Drashah after a few runs. I would prefer to keep away from him.
4.MISTY GREY: She should be ashamed of her performance because her younger sibling has won three times and placed second once in four runs. I am quite certain that she will perform now.
5.SEA DRAGON: He is bred for speed, and that is about it, as he falters once the race comes to a boil. His sire, Perfect Stride, is a big disappointment.
6.DADDY`S DREAM: Given an easy run in his last run, in which Script, his stablemate, was the favourite. Has won just once in 35 runs, and I am sure the second one is around the corner.
7.LIGHTINTHESKY: She can get going now that she slips below the last winning rating. I would say she has a good chance.
Conclusion: Speedy LIGHTINTHESKY to win from MISTY GREY and DADDY`S DREAM. I wouldn't be surprised if the result went the other way around.
II. FOR MAIDEN HORSES 3 YEARS OLD ONLY.
1100 METRES
1.MAHABALA: Such a beautifully bred horse under the care of a rather mediocre trainer does not do justice to him, but his commanding pedigree can land him the prize.
2.SKYBOLT: His dam was trained by Vikas Jaiswal. I guess he is the best person to handle her foal.
3.ACANTHA5: Her sire, Dali, is doing exceptionally well in almost all centres where his offspring have raced; Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Calcutta and Hyderabad, and they happen to be the major racing centers. I will not hesitate to declare her as the one to beat.
4.JAMAICA: She is not bred for speed, and it was surprising to see her run freely in front in her first run. She needs to be waited on. If trainer Bath instructs her rider to ride her to her strength, you can be certain she will run a fine race.
5.PELAGIA: I am sorry to say, but I have to state it, that she is by a flop sire. There is not much hope for her unless her dam's genes dominate because she was bred for speed.
6.SWEET LEGACY: Her older sibling, By the Book, was one of the most fancied runner in Bangalore last Saturday, and you all know what happened. Will she prove the genuine? I, for one, will not risk my money to get the answer.
7.TWENTY SIX BLACK: Well, I guess, she didn't find any buyers, or else why would she be owned by her trainer? One more important point: she is not bred for speed.
Conclusion: ACANTHA5 all the way from JAMAICA.
III. FOR HORSES RATED 21-46, RATED 1-26 ELIGIBLE
1100 METRES
1.TRES BIEN: He has gulped down a lot of the punter's money in his last three runs. I suppose he'll have to regurgitate them now.
2.YAZH: My opinion is that she needs longer distances to give her best. I wonder why her master hasn't done that yet.
3.INDIAN TIGER: He is speedy and, more importantly, has beaten Cape Tanaros in his last winning venture during the monsoon season. With Akshay astride, he can maul this field.
4.IMPERMANENCE: She is very speedy, and if she gets off to a flyer, then the race would be as good as over, as he will prove difficult to reel in.
5.ANGEL LIGHT: The sprint is not her kind. She needs 1400-meters and upwards.
6.DUBAI BAY: Another speedy one. If he is backed in the ring, then you can expect a favourable outcome.
7.EASTSIDE: She last won at a rating of 56, and with her at 39 now, along with Rozario's claim of 2 kg, makes her an attractive proposition.
8.AHREN: A win looks due for him having run second in both of his previous runs.
9.LIGHTNING CHARLIE: Last week his master was questioned for the improved performance of Agostini Caracacci. If he tries the same tricks with him, then we can wish him a long summer holiday.
Conclusion: The speedster trio—INDIAN TIGER, IMPERMANENCE, and DUBAI BAY—are the ones that catch my attention.
IV. FOR HORSESRATED 41-66, RATED 21-46 ELIGIBLE
1100 METRES
1.THOUSAND WORDS: His part owner, Cheriyan Abraham, has already made an impact in Chennai, and I feel he will want to do the same here.
2.LIVISILLA: She needs more ground, and the 1100-meter race is not cut out for her.
3.MORNING STAR: Finished third behind Tycoonist and Star Justice in a tight finish last time under Vinay Jaiswal. With the claim of 2 kg to which his rider Alex Rozario is entitled, he could make amends.
4.THE FLYING EAGLE5: An enquiry is underway with regards to the running and riding for the poor show two runs ago; it was found lame in its last run. I do not fancy him for those reasons.
5.MAKHTOOB: I am sure he will run with the intention of winning. Calling Mukesh Kumar to ride him gives that indication.
6.DEVUSHKA: She takes time to warm up and would appreciate a fast pace. If the front runners set a scorching pace, she will certainly take advantage of that.
7.SENTURION: I would not be confident about his chances because he lacks early speed. The 1100-meter race is not his type.
8.STAR JUSTICE: Withdrawn
9.MARK ONE: He is speedy and, with Dhanu Singh Deora aboard, can make a race of it.
Conclusions:The 1100-meter race will suit speedy ones, and hence I go for THOUSAND WORDS and MORNING STAR.
V. FOR HORSES RATED 95 AND ABOVE
1200 METRES
1.AWESOME ONE: Has been knocking on the door this season. His consistency can win him the race.
2.ANASTASIA: She broke her blood vessels in her last run, hence the poor performance. I feel she can easily win this race if she does not break her blood vessels again.
3.TACTICAL COMMAND: The Bangalore discard needed the previous run on this track. He gets a visting riderand that indicates he is on job.
4.SOARING HIGH: He has no form to stand up to.
5.MONFORTINO: With great difficulty, he managed to score two runs before. I do not fancy his chances.
Conclusion: It will prove difficult for this field to reel in ANASTASIA, if she is off to a great start.
VI. FOR HORSES RATED 41-66, RATED 21-46 ELIGIBLE
1400 METRES
1.DREAM CHASER: Withdrawn
2.AGOSTINO CARRACCI: His master will prefer sitting tight since he was hauled up by the stewards for the improved performance last time.
3.BAHULEYAN: His trainer has attracted the attention of the stewards to his gambling ways with the unexpected victory of previous contestant Agostini Caracacci. He would prefer to stay low until the heat wears off.
4.DRD: This is the first run of the discard from Hyderabad. I would not fancy his chances.
5.MANDOLIN: P. Tejeshwar rode him to victory four runs earlier this season. I feel he will figure on the board.
6.GHOST: Trainer B. Mahesh dare not try him or else he will be in big trouble.
7.TYCOONIST: His previous win was too laboured and has gone over the peak.
8.WHISTLE BLOWER: R.S. Bhati is the sort of rider who wins at bigger odds. I will not play down his chances.
9.THAR: A minor placing looks assured for him if he maintains the consistency of his performance.
10.DUBAI STAR: He is a good finisher, and I feel he will be in the thick of the action.
Conclusion: I will go each way on DUBAI STAR.
VII. FOR HORSES RATED 21-46, RATED 1-26 ELIGIBLE
1600 METRES
1.ROKA: She escaped with a light penalty of 4 kg for her previous easy victory, and an encore is at her bidding.
2.DREAM STATION: He has to be ridden off the pace to be effective, and not the way he was ridden in his last two starts, upfront.
3.ODIN: Md. Imran is the rider, and everyone knows whether he is given winning mounts or not.
4.CREATION OF GOD: If you want an outsider, then there is no one better than him to consider.
5.MAGNITE: The biggest upsets this season have come from Shyam Habbu's stable. I will not leave her out of the calculation.
6.SO SO SPECIAL: There is nothing special about her. She is just an ordinary performer.
7.DEVINE CHAKRA: He runs with an advantage against Roka, who beat him last time. Will that suffice to overturn the result?
8.MANDELA: He does not have the form to back him up.
9.FREE SPIRITED: His pedigree is the best in this field. I feel he can score.
10.BANKSY: He is an ordinary sort and does not have any legs to stand on in terms of performance.
11.THALAMES: He is the danger to all in this field.
12.TICKER: He can tickle himself as much as he wants, but he cannot win in this field.
Conclusion: Too many catch my eye. I will decide at race time. The ones I fancy are DREAM STATION, MAGNITE, FREE SPIRITED, and THALAMES.
