Back to listsThe One On Course To Becoming One Of The All-time Racing Greats

The Narredus are on a roll, winning classics after classics at almost every centre, and they now target Mumbai and have brought SYNTHESIS to take on the local lot.
Ever since his eye-catching performance in the Bangalore Colts Classic in the summer, this horse has given me the impression that he is a top-class colt, destined for glory and likely to etch his name in the annals of Indian racing history as one of the all-time greats.
He did disappoint in the Bangalore Derby, but he has a valid reason, as he stumbled badly and lost his footing passing the mile post. He redeemed himself by smashing the competition to smithereeens in the Deccan Derby. In fact, the commentator was heard saying that the winning margin was the longest ever.
He receives training from Rajesh Narredu, who demonstrated early in his career that he possesses the skills necessary to compete in the top league with Star Superior, the Indian 2000 GN and Derby winner in the Mumbai season of 2018–19.
As for Suraj, he is currently the best rider in the Indian racing circuit and capable of emulating Pesi Shroff, the rider, and, given his young age, may even break the record number of wins that Pesi holds in the Indian derby..
His sire is the current champion stallion, Speaking of Which, who dominated the classics last year, and Synthesis, if he upholds my belief that he will be the ultimate champion of his crop, will ensure that he retains the crown.
And Synthesis inherits stamina from his dam as well as his grand-dam. Well, his great-granddam, Zaya, would twist and roll in her grave if no mention was made of her, for she was the dam of Starsky, the Indian Derby winner in the 2001–02 Mumbai season, and also of Yana, the 2009 Stayers Classic winner.
His grand-dam,Yana, in turn, produced Mathaiyus, the Indian St. Leger winner, run over a gruelling trip of 2800 m, as well as Sana, who annexed the Calcutta 1000 GN and Oaks, and Zoya, the Calcutta Oaks winner—not to forget the Bangalore Oaks winner, Mea Culpa.
Synthesis is the first foal of his dam, Sana.
I am hoping Synthesis lives up to my expectations and he proves to be the ultimate champion of his crop.
