Tipping A Horse Is Totally Different From Playing The Horse, Why So?

By Kk | 05-Jan-2024

I have been going through the selections of a large number of racegoers here before the race but inside the course I see more often than not the same people change their bets in the last minute, taking into account many factors, particularly the given betting trend.

According to me, this is what makes the bookies the King and we punters the pauppers.

We zero in on a horse for various reasons but the moment odds are displayed on the board, we keep asking 100's of questions about our own choice, isn't it?

For instance, if the animal we prefer becomes favorite we don't wish to play whereas there is another section which will ignore their choice if their preferred horse is placed at longer odds.

Also, some punters take a decision based on the money they have in their pocket. If they are left with a few thousand rupees after losing in a couple of races naturally their eyes go for longer odds or at least not the favorite. However, if they make up a good sum in the beginning then they don't wish to look beyond favorites in the subsequent races.

I feel this inconsistency and instability is what defeats us again and again inside the betting ring.

Nice one sir going to race course from the age of sixteen worked abroad for twenty five years forgot racing after coming back started again but in a small limit.after lock down do go to racing but avoid Delhi races.today for Kolkata Derby played all the three manjri owned horses trained by Neil left the race course didn't wait for Derby. on classic day I always follow big owners.18-6-23 Bangalore races the fillies trial race jamari was the winner, same day manjri owned horses sea eagle.clifford. and word Smith won. I won on sea eagle and went home.racing always play in a limit you will never loose. Mysore races follow trainers like Bobby and rakesh.trainer Rakesh will go for a treble .trainer Bobby will win horses in big odds like jabbar etc. my English is not so good so difficult for me to explain.your article is really good.all punters play some selected horses with good odds you will win. Good luck to all.

Good one, the first few lines that you mentioned should be your experience, instead of pointing to others, no worry it is the same case with most of iteans in this thread who post and boast..

It happens what u study and change your mind once you enter the race course,  but afer seeing the odds and you dont play the same horse that you studied because of the flactuation in odds. by bookies and tote.

conclusioin it depends on the day how we calcuate with the amount that we bring into the course.

Tipping is better than punting. Tipster is within his rights if changes his mind and plays some other horse. Also there is no obligation for him to bet on his tips.  Punter can't change his bet but can bet another horse if thinks he has made mistake (Usually he will lose both bets !)

Tipster doesn't have explain why his tips lost. He can as some do blame the jockey, going or say the race was fixed.

After the race, Tipster can post something like "Did you see my tips ?" or "Congratulation to all those who followed me" and so on. He doesn't have to reimburse his followers when his Bank of England tip runs like donkey.

Tipsters associated with newspapers and websites have a job to do and get paid for it. Bad tipster runs risk of losing his job. Some years back Tipster of one Mumbai afternoon newspaper used to give not only tips but give his suggestion about how to utilise your bank for the day.  Race No.2 win only Rs. 200. Race No 5 Tanala 5 tickets, forecast 20 tickets and so on. Very soon he returned to giving only tips.

Giving tips causes no tension. Punting is not good for heart.

Getting the best and second best horses in your selected races( not all races) is not easy it is very tough- for me it was easy I knew what to look for - it cannot come even after decades in this field for 95% of the punters - I spent time with trainers n jockeys even after that it can be difficult.

Thank you Old Punter - one should be sure of recognising the best and second best in the field 2) should know how to recognise fitness of your two selected horses sometimes if you are still unsure watch it as it goes to the starting gates- as for lay bets I never bothered to look at the fitness -In my mind it was even if they fix it it wont win-  my success with the percentage was good - won more then I lost- but its tough to make money hereI- plus a big risk of health .

There are two types of TIPSTERS.

(1) Tipsters who are capable of handicapping. They are not more than 10% of total PLAYERS. They will definitely bet as per their selection. For example GODZILLA,

(2) Hipsters who poast their selection on MEDIA just to see their name. Once in a blue moon mostly on a dav.of fav.their selection will WIN & they will come forward to tap their own back. This type of Hipsters avoid betting.

(3) Racing Industory runs on the players who don't know handicapping and selection and depends on different alternative available to them. They are approx 90%. Almost all are loosers over all and therefore bookies and connections who go for LAY BET are surviving.

Please come forward to accept the truth.

Why people dont make money in horse racing/Gambling?

Reason-1 Money management. People dont know as to how much to wager on each bet. we bet more on looser bet and wont have money to bet on winner bet.

2.Trying to study too much.

Remember gambling is a probability game. There is chance/luck involved. We study based on history or data available. and we expect horse will perform in certain manner. What real potential no body knows except trainer.

3. Passing the blame on bookies

This is a standrad loosers practice. Saying bookies have taken our money. Remember no bookies invites us to wager. It is we who go and bet. He will change odds based on simple Economics.Demand vs supply. Note that many bookies have lost crores of rupees. only few smart bookies make money.

Solution:

Play within your limits. dont gamble on credit(Big Blunder). You may follow any Tipster to your choice. finally you decide what to play and how much to play. accept your defeat and learn from your mistake. Study is very important but keeping an eye on odds is important factor.Take a decision accordingly.

Happy Gambling to all dear fellow members

It's a simple case of " DECISION MAKING ". Over 25 years of " HORSE RACING" attendances and punting taught me the value of " DECISION MAKING ".Once you have made up your mind after " HORSE STUDY" stick on to your choice irrespective of betting trends in the " RING"  or " TOTE". If not for " JORSE RACING" I wouldn't be a successful Stock market investor and a reason why late honest  Big BULL of India Mr Rakesh.Jhunjhunwala  took up to " HORSE RACING" during the last few years of his life.

The ex-master of the ring, Buddy, is the best person to explain. Nobody is better qualified in this matter than him.

After being in racing for Almost a decade I now go with mind set of playing three races only.  If I get 2-3k in my pocket I don't play more. Set target for a day.  Carry not more than 5-10 k always keep your bank strong.  You can loose anyway but if you have backing than you can get your money back anyday

We as punters do not have enough data available for the modern style of horse racing that we are currently experiencing post COVID.To couple that we also have to start focusing on other ways to analyze todays racing. It is pretty evident that the bookies are the main beneficiaries of the same and also the owners who have been cleverly duping us punters. The mindset around racing has always been that the punter will return irrespective of whatever scenario you throw at them and this gives them(Owners,Trainers,Stud Farms) further confidence to continue with the same trend.Add the blind authorites to this and you'll see its a 100% rigged set up.

You are absolutely right.

It's the best way to choose a horse ???? on its merit, pedigree, suitable distance and the handicap latest form.Never look in to the odds or jockey. If you have doubt about your selection better to go for place. There are sometimes they suddenly make a horse favourite, which means they have been favoured by the authorities to win.

According to me the Punter before placing a Bet is carried away by the Odds as+ reflected the Betting Trend

Secondly to Zero In on a horse apart following some Handicapping rules one adds many more subjectuve parameters which creates some confusion in the mind

I recommend to depend more on Calculations and less on subjective parameters. If one has a system based on Calculations and sticks to it one can get better results.

Any System should simple with less subjective parameters.

Believe in the system you are using and stick to it is the mantra.

Thanks.

Yes, agreed this is what happens almost every time but one can use the old method of picking the horse to win or place before the race in a method one prefers and mark it on a small piece of  paper only the horse number and the horse number / name and ignore everything that happens in the betting ring as betting ring is like a chakraview and anything can happen as one may not have control on ourselves or can get easily confused by the odds or khabars or someone betting peti on some other horse or even when your chosen horse is available at the longer odds of trying to lip read what trainers and jockey are planning etc. this all may lead to confusion and sometimes by the time you make up your mind to bet the race is already startd and there is nothing much one can do.

So if one may try sticking to your own choice and play the horse in your mind disregarding other factors many a time's  the outcome may turn in your favour. This is just the way I think.

A real fact. Most of the punters have atleast three winners before they enter the course but in which races are they. They play big on losers and ended up by playing minimum on their three winners

You r right Sir.

You have to be deef n dumb while entering in the race course arena. Bcoz we do confuse ourself and disrespect our own choice by asking others choice and  as well as knowing some unknown facts like current body weight of the animal , bookies rate is also to be considered. All of a sudden we change our mind by judging the recent favourites (Increase n decressed ) rate also.
