Chaitanya Chakram won 1987 Invitation Cup at Bangalore by three lengths from Premium Spirit (V Shinde). Capricorn (R Corner) was third head behind. He did not win by a distance nor did he hack the field. Capricorn did not break down. He later won Indian St. Leger in record time.

Indian Derby to be run on February 04, 2024 is already inviting lot of attention in this forum.

My 2 cents.

In 2000 Guineas SYNTHESIS proved much better than ENABLER and CHRISTOFLE. In RRR Gold Cup over 2000 M , it was a different story as ENABLER scrored a good win with CHRISTOFLE giving a good fight.

As regards, JENDAYI, she beat nothing in the Oaks. That was a very poor set and nothing can be made out on that form.

DESTROYER was destroyed by LONG LEASE in Calcutta Derby and can not be considered a contender here.

From Bangalore, we can have a look at JAMARI and TOUCH OF GREY. I read somewhere that TOUCH OF GREY is being rested and will participate in the Invitation Cup on first Sunday of March. It is rare that a form horse would skip Indian Derby, let us see what actually happens. 

JAMARI may try her luck at Bangalore Derby on January 26. If she wins there and then comes to Mumbaim that would be just 9 days between two big races. CORDON BLEU trained by R R Byramji had achieved the feat of winning these two races with a small gap of days between the races in 1989.

Golconda Derby is to be run on January 28. So we ignore Hyderabad horses.

What do we have now?

ENABLER, JAMARI and CHRISTOFLE.

Anyone can win the race in Indian Derby except Jendayi not even second, Tricky Owners always takes the rabbit out of pocket in Big Races. I think the reason to bring foreign Jockey Oisin Murphy to eat in Indian Derby after two successful trip won by same foreign jockey. They can eat at least 15 coca , instead of winning one or more Crores whatever the stakes money for Indian Derby. CAREFUL CAREFUL everyone don't get trap Indian Derby race.
