Invitation Cup 2024 will have just 7 participants.

KALAMITSI, JULIETTE, CHAMPION'S WAY, PRANA, SYNTHESIS, TOUCH OF GREY and JAMARI.

At 8 years, JULIETTE is the oldest horse in the race and if she wins, it will be a record 3rd win for the gutsy grey mare.

I stay with my original selection -- SYNTHESIS.

My take is ....  The Indian Turf Invitation cup will be between 2 horses 

Dyf and Juliette --  Pure class and consistency. I would give Dyf a slight edge over Juliette because of shorter Kolkota straight, time and again Juliette hasn't performed like she is accustomed in shorter straights. Dyf is in great heart and ran a cracker of a race in Mumbai during the Derby weekend lost by a WHISKER  to Juliette 

The rest of the 4 year olds, Synthesis, Jamari, Touch of Grey, Champions way and others will have to fight it out for Minor placings.

Handicaps are published for the Invitation Cup weekend races. For the main event, there are only 8 horses at handicap stage. All may not accept.

JENDAYI is not among the handicapped set.

Satish Narredu has CHAMPION'S WAY and TOUCH OF GREY and Rajesh Narredu has SYNTHESIS. Whether all 3 will accept?

This is going to be a race with very few runners.

Probably, JULIETTE has scared them away.

If JENDAYI is not participating, play TOUCH OF GREY confidently.

If all the runners run there will be no stopping Juliette.. 

Last run Juliette beating dyf by half a length doesn't show the actual picture.. for starters it's a small field and every one knows they can give the leaders a dozen lengths and still beat them comfortably.. so important aspect of the race, the pace is missing.. when pace isn't there Juliette is good enough to do the job but if there's pace in the race the mare is entirely a different beast... without the pace it can cover 6 to 8 lengths in the last 300 but if pace is abundantly available it will cover dozen lengths..

No one would want any of these leaders to skip 5 or 6 lengths on the turn... that would be suicidal so everyone will try to be within touching distance of the leader.. hence, strong pace is expected.. 

Jendayi also needs the pace, in hindsight if it's a winnable race for jendayi then Juliette is a certainty.. Juliette will beat jendayi even if it is behind it and giving it 3 to 4 lengths on the turn.. weight may be a telling factor Juliette will be the top weight as it's the oldest in the field.. 4 year old filly jendayi will carry 55.5 kilos and that's a given.. Being 8 year old Juliette should carry 59.5kilos but it's a mare  so it has to carry 58 kilos at the minimum.. so the likes of jendayi, jamari and even dyf are already receiving weight from Juliette.. will the 2.5 kilos stop Juliette if pace is on then no.. will the 2.5 kilos stop Juliette with no pace then yes.. one thing is certain, the back markers won't beat Juliette in this race so jendayi and dyf no chance.. if at all you consider a horse it has to be an on pacer.. Don't back Jendayi with Juliette in the field.. Its almost a 10/1 shot in beating Juliette so with the field considered its a no hoper.. might start 2nd fav or 3rd fav but still a no hoper... 

More than the names of the horses the dynamics of the race are important.. Will discuss the chances when the field is out along with the barrier draws.. If at all every nominated runner runs the race then Juliette is simply unbeatable.. 

It's tough fight between Jenday(Shroff)& Synthesis (narredu) for the invitation cup to be run at Kolkata on 3rd March 2024

No Words to say Juliette will be the Clear cut winner in the invitation cup

I am now familiar with all the horses run so far. Have watched Indian Derby video again and again. 

The joint property of VBS and KND JENDAYI , has not positioned well till 400 MTR marker by senior pro PS Chouhan. Even then it was fully extended to test the burst from impossible position to make an attempt.

Jendai responded beautifully and finished close 4th.

If Chouhan places Jendai like Tintinabulation, I don't think any reason, in Jendai winning the prestigious Invitation Race by a minimum margin of 2 lengths from Jamari and Synthesis .

Great choice. I do think that the J triplets won't produce enough effort to win it. That only leaves Touch of Grey and Synthesis, out of which i believe touch of grey should come out victorious, it nearly broke the course record on Guindy on its first ever 2400m. Anticipating a similar, or a much better performance from him. Synthesis has a good chance, but i don't think it can beat Touch of grey. 

Dear Pramod Kumar, I quite agree with what you've posted, mainly about Juliette, and Synthesis. 

I'm not one who can make observations after watching a race, but there was a fleeting second in the Indian Derby where I felt that Suraj gifted the race to Yash, because just when Synthesis was about to make the final assault Suraj slightly tilted his head to the left, when he was about to start using the whip, and Enabler was just within Suraj's eyesight span for that fleeting second, and the next moment I observed a different sort of run for Synthesis, well, this is just my observation, but I feel Synthesis, from that position could have just darted forward, and probably would have won comfortably, instead, meekly succumbed to Enabler. 

Both horses being from the same family we would probably never be able to figure out who's better, but I feel that Synthesis is one horse who'd probably have to live in the shadows of Enabler, but when they both don't run together is when we'd be able to draw comparisons, and I guess this is one race that would truly give us an insight into Synthesis' potential.
