There is no difference between Division 1 and 2 As rightly opined by Thunderstrike when number of horses is more at Acceptance stage a race divided as per the rules of the club.Look at Rno 130 and 132 of Bangalore meet of 16th Feb

At Handicap Stage there were 22 horses with Star Convept at 62 Kg and Superhero at 50.5 At Acceptances stage the Race is divided onto 2 with 19 horses accepting to run

In Division 1 2 top rated horses are put and Division 2 starts with Momentous which was at 58.5Kg and raised to 60Kg with a noting for Race 132 as weight raised by 1.5Kg Total 19 are divided into 10 in Div1 and 9 in Div2 Since first horse in Div2 is running with 1.5Kg more Weight than on the Standard Scale of the race the Time turned out in Div2 is more giving the impression that Div2 is inderior race,If Timing of Div2 is adjusted for 1.5Kg time equivakent this abbrerartion will be removed Of course they that is Div 1 and 2 times will not be same.

When the number  of acceptors in a race is more than a fixed number (it varies for every race club) , the race is split into two parts. Horses with higher rating run in Div 1 and those with lower rating in Div 2. 

At times, we find that the winner of lower division ( Div 2) wins in a faster time than the winner of Div 1. Such a horse can be noted for a good performance in the same class, if it does not get promoted.

There was a time when races at Mumbai (then Bombay) and Pune were not split and we had 22 horses in Class 5B ( today's equivalent of probably 0-20 rated) running over 1000 M scurry.

With divisioning, such races are avoided. 

Sometimes races are divisioned even in case of 13-14 runners to frame at least a 6 race card for the day. Delhi Race Club does it very often.

I was expecting Vivek G and not Vivek. Still thank you for correction. I posted this  before the race card and expected the trainer to appoint Vivek G after checking the combination of trainer and jockey.

Anyways I am not gonna touch this horse , last race  excessive use of whip,  horse may not win next outing, as Said by Govindarajan S (Chennai) recently. 

@Golden -- thanks for correcting about the jockey on ECO FRIENDLY. 

I still remain with my selection. At worst, horse will lose, but if it comes good m price with jockey Vivek will be better than if it was Vivek G.

Race No 1...Horse no 1 Eco friendly wil be ridden by jockey ViVeK....He is not Vivek G....there are 2 Vivek in banglore meetings dont get confused...Vivek is the average type of jockey. Eco friendly is the days best lay bet...61.5kgs its carrying and hard to win from that jockey...dont waste ur money by Playing eco friendly.

I assumed that Div-I has better horses compare to Div-II . So there might be penalty imposed .

Probably I might be wrong , if there are more horses at acceptance stage , splitting of mutiple entries in two races through is done.

Well, declarations are done. Card is finalized. Time for selections.

Race 1: ECO FRIENDLY who failed as a favourite in Class 4, comes down to Class 5 over same distance of 1600 M. With Vivek G replacing P Saikumarm this horse is the likely favourite again. Can it win with top weight of 61.5 Kg. Favourites do not win Class 5 races very often, but we do not see other serious contenders. 

1-ECO FRIENDLY ( Vivek G) . 

Race 2: NO CHOICE

Race 3: KALLU SAKKARE is going for a hat trick of wins. The last win in Class 4 was very good with timing better than in Class 3 on the same day. But I have my doubts about the continued success and would take a chance with 10-MACRON who is tracking well.

Race 4: 1- SEVENTH SAMURAI (S John)

Race 5: 4- BREEZE BUSTER (R N Darshan) -- very consistent. May score this time.
