There was indeed such a race called the RWITC Invitational Cup, in which older horses were eligible to participate, but somehow it lost its eminence, and it is presently called the RWITC Gold Cup.

I recall many then current classic winners taking on past older champions.

Godzilla sir with all due respect I don't feel the suggestion you gave is actually worth taking. I am sorry sir I am not criticizing your thoughts. But why shall this happen.... Sir as in human being age is just a number so it's also in animals.... Julliet just did not win she outclassed all other six jokers..... The youngsters should be ashamed of themselves n so their trainers who have big names and also had big big jockeys but yes by running behind julliet they all (horse trainer jockey)have gained  good experience for their future ....

Sir I will go one step further that thanks God that Julliet trainer is Mr. karthik Ganpathy not any money minded trainer (I can name but it's not good) and also  invitation cup was held in kolkata not Mumbai n Hyderabad otherwise dreams of beating julliet would have become true....As till now no one forgot how Quasar was made champion in invitation cup in Mumbai on behest of BESAFE by non other than narredu family.... So Well done RCTC n Mr. Karthik Ganpathy for being loyal and proving that in this sport loyalty have rare space but when it have its actually remembered by many for long long time 

Very sad, may be a little bit of enquiry required before going to invitation cup how this happened, when there is enquiry for humans why not for animals.. 

I thought that he would recover from his illness. Sorry to see him go, so soon.

@Godzilla , there is no substance in your suggestion of " Champion of Veterans" and I am afraid there will be no takers for it. As it is, India breeds too few staying horses and very few classy horses remain in training after age 5.You will find it difficult to assemble a decent field and the event will turn in to a farce!

Only those who dare to dream have the guts to make them come true. Do keep that in mind. Mere taking potshots just because Juliette won by a wide margin in a record-breaking time does not mean that other champion horses are pushovers.

I will agree that regarding Juliette, your observations were proved right, but do scroll down to older postings in which your observations on other horses have come a cropper. So, hold your horses and do not fly high with your caustic observations of others.

Learn to respect the views expressed by others and maintain decorum.

Sad to hear ENABLER Indian derby winner death due to Lung infections causes sudden death. Sudden deaths involving the respiratory system are mostly due to bacterial infections causing pneumonia and tuberculosis. Sudden death due to viral involvement of the respiratory system may be due to fulminant viral pneumonitis or bacterial pneumonia complicating an initial viral pneumonitis. Horses affected by pneumonia can experience cough, fever, weakness and difficulty breathing. Pneumonia can affect horses of all ages, but it is most prevalent in 2 and 3-year-old horses. It is also the most common cause of illness and death in foals between 1-6 months of age

Indeed a sad news. Very shoking. Gem of the current generation horeses gone. Without ENABLER racing will be poorer. We will miss him deerly &  stay our memory for long time.

Another horse died after derby was Stormagain, won in Bomby Derby and died due to infection.

Well said jp  dreaming a horse like enabler to beat julliet made me laugh at their mind....

Godzilla,why do you want Indian Horse Racing to move backwards? The whole point of having the Invitation Cup is to find THE BEST HORSE in the country every year. Right now we have EMPRESS JULIETTE !!! a genuine CHAMPION!!!

Enabler suffered a lung infection on his way to kolkata which worsened with time. Its come out that he had developed severe pneumonia and succumbed to the disease.

It was a sad news indeed. Some here are day dreaming and stating that Enabler would have beaten Juliette. Further adding that they have not seen a horse like Enabler in last 45 odd years. Then they have not seen is true because there were horses like Elusive Pimpernal, Mystical, Royal Tern, Squanderer, Oasis Star, Be Safe and few others. Juliette won with little tap and no whip used at all and won by whooping 8 lengths in record time. Enabler, Jendayi and the rest named above as best by me cannot beat Juliette according to me. It is the GOAT  horse of Indian racing. Just Juliette and no other horse according to me in my 60 years of racing. 

Very shocked to hear this news.

He was a legend in making.

Indian Derby Winner horse who was injured while traveling from Mumbai to Kolkata passed away today. May this horse soul rest in peace

One more request to authorities. Only 4 year old should participate in Invitation Races also in future. Other horses for 5 year old and above, there should be separate classic as CHAMPION OF VETRANS which would be more competitive event

It is a pity that Enabler passed away so young, as he was the one capable of giving the wonder mare Juliette a run for her money. His splendid turn of foot was one of the best witnessed by me in my 45 years of racing.

Well, the Narredus were having a good run, and this unfortunate happening could cut it short.

Anyhow, Enabler did not go away without accomplishing much, for he bagged the ultimate race, the Indian Derby, in the country.

Hoping he neighs with pleasure whereever he is for he truly was a blessed horse.

It was truly among the best horses in the country. Rest in peace, the great.
