I beg to stop floating theories like Poonawalla sponsored so KND was made to win it. Oh really? How many Poonawalla Breeders multimillions won by Poonawallas? How did they win? Why didn't they gift races to other owners? If I am not wrong they won continuously 4 years PBMM. These kind of statements take away the hard work of the trainer, his team, the owners who put big money on thoroughbreds, and lastly the star athelete the horse itself. It is painful to take away the brilliance of the athlete who performed exceptionally well.

If you have a theory in any sense like sponsorship etc etc you are obliged to post in advance about your assumptions.

Oh yeah... Suraj won a record 2300 plus races... multiple classics....number of derbys...and judging his riding? It wasn't a mistake at all....Fynbos is way superior horse...I don't see any error of judgement...Suraj rode it well..horse has limited capacity...it may win Hyderabad Derby if entered...not at any major center...

Agree with Godzy. Suraj was up in the front with the leaders and hit the straight first which is raising gradient. The horse was a spent force 100 mtrs from home  He must have thought that it is another Be Safe or War Hammer. Director Shankar failed in Indian 2 and Game Changer. Another combination after 37 years between 2 supposed to be greats "THUG LIFE" flopped. So Suraj can falter. Miracle Star for the notebook if it is ridden by a jockey not connected with the rider of Prokofiev.

Blaming jockey in this particular derby race is ridiculous. .The horse doesnt have staying abilities. Suraj rode a good race. Horse didnt respond in the last 200 mtrs. If any other jockie rode it  would have been unplaced.

Perhaps he wanted to avoid traffic by hitting front. The Jockey like Trevor is not bothered about traffic and he can take the horse out and win. Confidence to the core.

Go thru videos before giving your firm opinion.

I don't know what does it meant stand near stall & collect your money, this leads to misguiding poor punters. But this is good lesson for them who run always behind him for each n every race. Thanks

Actually the best horse is PROKOFIEV as seen from the manner of running . On the whole the best horse is PROKOFIEV.  This horse will proove its mettle in future cla

ssics. No doubt.  Godzi is not disgraced. He will loom large again.

Suraj hitting front without preserving stamina in a 2000 mtr Race is questionable. No judgement at all. Trevor is far superior when it comes to classics. Even AK46 or Saqlain wd have been much better on Prokofiev.

        Godzi's observations with regard to limiting one's freedom to tipping alone is quiet right. That is the pre-condition of this forum 

      As regards Godzi, he has given his tips based on his calculations. It is upto the punters whether to bet or not on his tips. Punters are always at liberty to make their own choices and to wager prudently.

        As the time passes and the count down started for Bangalore Derby, tension is mounting with all the punters. If PROKOFIEV wins the Derby , his followers will be happy.  For argument sake, If it is not winning , no problem. As Godzi said there is alwys a tomorrow. Heaven will not fall  . Thats it .

As Suraj Narredu has not won a single race today, the chances of PROKOFIEV is looming large . So I shall go tomorrow with Godzi's selection.  After all it is racing. Anything can happen..

Finally I have arrived  at my choice.

The only horse that had some of steam left in Colts trail was Red  Bishop.

It covered  nearly 8  L in last 100 m and would have won in next 10 mts. With 400 m extra to travel and Sandesh to guide her it's the horse everyone has to beat.

Only request to sandesh is keep it in striking distance in the last last 100 m .

That race was big controversy and jockey Sandesh was suspeneded for bad his riding of Juliette. After Sandesh get his license back many big stables did not give him mounts. Please check one stable which gave him good mounts.

Well if 3 or 4 top quality colts /geldings r in fray ..i find the filly to b smelling coffee in pune ...Has to b one of the boys to shout out for victory...Its an very open n close summer derby with no one holding the edge...seeing the colts race where i did fancy provokiv to produce an 6th gear over the last 50 mtrs it was found wanting..but it did come out of barrier 15th ..n suraj on can b different proposition...well its a tight one..Red bishop can only improve from his colts run n a real danger...soverign king came out flying the fastet in last 100 mtrs but had his share of pie...let the best horse win n the real test of 2400 mtrs mumbai derby will b an disscussion point after the 2000 mtrs summer bangalore derby...Gud luck all 

It's Mindful vs Red Bishop anybody race. 

Prokofiev will not finish in first 3. Red Bishop should run a grand race. 

Though Fynbos looks to get the top billing the declaration of jockeys makes the derby field look like a mine field or a roulette. Red Bishop has Sandesh in the saddle. When was the last time he rode for this connections and it was Sargent At Arms in Indian Derby and it was trained by S S Attaollahi. This jockey was never encouraged by Red Bishop's trainer when he was signed as retainer for the Shirke's but was locked in important and big races with also ran horses from M K Jadhav belonging to the Shirke. Sandesh was given few wins for this owner in Poone and few wins in handicap races by Red Bishop trainer. Sandesh has most wins for Shirke with MKJ. Apart from Sargent At Arms he has not ridden for the owners of Red Bishop. Why now ?
Fynbos trainer has preferred Sandesh which is surprising since he had released his stable jockey Vivek and also last year derby winning jockey Saqlain to ride for other stables. Why ?

Though trainer Prasanna has a habit of using different jockeys but usually sticks with the same jockeys. He has discarded Mukesh and has declared Suraj. Suraj has 2 horses trained by his family gang and has preferred to ride for Prasanna Kumar. He rode some what questionable ride on Synthesis in Indian Derby and his cousin and uncle combo won on Enabler. Mukesh is riding Suraj's uncle trained horse in the Derby. Nared

Charismatic trained by Prasanna is now ridden by Srinath probably the senior most pro in the field and big race jockey. Some owners come into racing and show off by big investments in horses and win a big race like Derby at lucrative odds and fade away. One Kolkata Derby win is an example. This horse owner combo can do the same.

Jockey Mukesh has been very unlucky in a couple of races like Indian Derby on Pyrite and in Colts on Prokofiev. All being his first rides. Now he is riding Gun Smoke. Narredus are capable of pulling a rabbit out of the hat like Wall Street placing at lucrative odds in Mirra Indian Derby, Queen of Kings two wins at lucrative odds. Gun Smoke in this Derby could be one more to add up.

For me Charismatic and Gun Smoke each way .

I am not sure if it's true David Allan refused to ride porkofiew but Suraj is declared to ride it . But one thing is for sure this horse is unable to convert exceptional track form to race form.. I feel this will Dhunjibhoy's Derby or some upset ..  I like Sandesh's mount Red Bishop

The horses you mentioned with Balmoral Castle as dam are out of Sire Excelent Art, who can travel at the most around a mile. But in that too exceptions can be made like STAR SUPERIOR.

Here Prokofievs Sire happens to be Leitir More. which is out and out stayer, out of Balmoral Castle. It can be called as DOUBLE ENGINE SIRCAR.

No more justifications on this animal.

Apart from the three I mentioned earlier I'd like to add Red Bishop, whose pedigree numbers are excellent for long distances, and now, having said that, I guess my choice boils down to Fynbos and Red Bishop. Will take a final call once I check tracks, and other factors.

Acceptances are out, had a brief look, and feel that it's just three that need detailed studies; Sovereign King, Stormy Sea, and Fynbos, and at this stage I feel it's a one horse race, FYNBOS, 2nd foal of Malasi, the 1st being Zuccarro. Still need to check these three in details later on, but I feel I might ultimately be having this same choice, FYNBOS.

Dearest Godzilla, I quite agree with what you said about B Castle, sure she has won over 1600 and 2400, but, has her progenies replicated that? No, none have won even over 1600, and I'm talking about over 100 in number. We've had many good performers, whose progenies have not lived up to the expectations, based on peer performance, and this seems to be one such case. 

By the way, thanks for taking my comments so sportingly. You know, a long time ago, maybe a few decades ago, when I started posting on HT my race pals started calling me the new Godzilla, and that's when I began to follow your posts in earnest, and let me say this, your choices were very good, and that's why, no matter what, you still have a legion of followers. What do you mean by Class IV Horse ? Even Class VB can win Derby. Depends on how good is the horse at even scale.

BALMORAL CASTLE came head second in Hyderabad Derby also, distance 2400 mtrs.....timing 2.34 seconds,,,,might be due to conditions or pace of the Race. This happened in the year 2011 too.

For those who don't have records, BALMORAl CASTLE itself won a long distance classic, Bangalore Oaks...(distance 2400 MTRS)...in the year 2011.

Prokofiev is a class 4 horse how it will win the derby , don't know why Godzi had tip early before handicap.

Requesting Godzi to change his tip with good horse since many of the HT are following your selection and their money should not go vien .

I had earlier post said race between Fynbos and Red Bishop.

Pesi will win Derby. No doubt about that. Question in mind about staying abilities.

Fynbos is full sister to Zuccaro who won two 2000 mts races. Beyond that doubtful. Proven miller. Fynbos has chance because Derby distance is 2000 mts.

Red Bishop is full brother to Magneto who is proven stayer. Up to 3000 mts he can stay easily. So in my view Red Bishop has chances even in Mumbai Derby .

Red Bishop has better chances. 

David Allen will ride Stomy Sea.

Godzii he is superstar,  once he tipped last day of pune meet with 7 0ut of 7 longer odds, he is my guru coming to prokofiev this horse missed the colts by a whisker because jockey took a bit early ......

PROKOFIEV in a mile was literally stopping that is over 1600.All who finished one,two,three were all flying and would prefer still longer.especially the run of RED BISHOP was most eye catching.

If PROKOFIEV even finishes 6th or 7 th I will be surprised 

Gunsmoke had shown early promise but hasn't progressed as anticipated.

Mathswise, S King beat Fynbos by 6L over 1400 while receiving 3 kg. Adjusting for Fynbos's rough traffic, SK can be said to be better or at lest level with Fynbos over 1400. So if SK, Red Bishop and Stormy Sea come into the reckoning, Proko can't be dismissed summarily. Proko's loss to Bishop has to be taken as an aberration.

Proko showed tremendous improvement with Basket Bit and a seasonal run under his belt. He turned the tables on Big Bay as well as Circle Of Dreams despite a whiploss. He definitely has more scope of improvement. The Bangalore Derby is over 2000 and given the topography of the track, the Summer Derby does not demand a true stayer but a high class middle distance runner can definitely win it. In my opinion, Proko is very much in the mix.

To me RB looks relatively softish at this stage and would find it difficult to put it across in a fight. I don't see Stormy Sea winning with NSP nor do I see SK being as effective over 2000. So in the final analysis, the winner is likely to emerge from Fynbos and Proko. Acording to me, if ridden by a top rider like Akshay Kumar, Mountain Jewel has the potential to give a substantially improved performance.

My winner selection limited to Sovereign King, Fynbos, Stormy Sea, Red Bishop as of now. 

Stormy Sea, Fynbos n Red Bishop are good finishers with the Sovereign King having a treat turn of foot

Prokofiev will need to improve by a wide margin to challenge these but racing is a funny game n u never know. 

Nyways all the best for your selections. 

PS The best juvenile for me is Indian Brocade ans waiting for her to step  up in trip possibly in the season finale The Summer Million

Since David Allan has refused the ride on Proke Suraj will ride is been told. Trevor is retained for Fynbos & the word goes around that the fight is over with A sandesh & p Shroff & Dhunjibhoy so he rides the no hoper Red Bishop.

Absolutely nothing against one of the great HTer once upon a time, who still has a massive following, with many considering him to be God of racing, but I feel that if one is being so blindly followed irrespective of how the outcome of his tips are then that person needs to be a bit more sensitive and responsible, because there are still many out there who blindly and naively follow his tips. I honestly wonder why he is in an absolute hurry to post something, wouldn't it be better to play safe by checking all the factors involved - which he says he has considered - before posting something so confidently.

I do agree with him when he says that Prokofiev can last 2400, because the pedigree numbers do suggest so, but if one were to check the record of Prokofiev's dam, Balmoral Castle, she has had a total of 7 progenies, out of which only King's Retreat and All Attractive deserve a mention, both have reached class I, and rated above 100, but one needs to bear in mind that the max distance they've won over is 1400, not even 1600, and as regards the rest, amongst them they have won just about 6 races out of over 60 races, and none has won over 1400.

I may be wrong in my judgement out here, but I'd be surprised if Prokofiev even finishes 2-3-4, and if it does win I guess I'll have to go into a long hibernation in terms of racing, because Prokofiev winning over 2400, that too a Derby would mean that in spite of spending over a few decades in racing I'm still a novice, and have to start all over again.

I usually don't do Bangalore as it's not online, but would be active this weekend, and will surely post my observations, at least for the Derby day, and of course, my choice for the Derby.

Horse is good in previous run came frm wider draw jockey loss it's whip still manage to finish close to winners. 10 yrs in racing I seen 100 out 95 punters don't have faith in their own horse picked to play they hesitate double minded.I really appreciate you Sir having guts to share single horse.

It will be very interesting to see in which horse Trevor will ride either Fynbos or Red Bishop. Red Bishop has tremendous bursting power and suit and stay 2000 meters runs. Fynbos will be money favourite but doubt about staying abilities. Let's acceptance to be release. Stormy Sea is dark horse.

Ordinary Races, the big owners may not be interested, particularly when their horse becomes favourite. They will go for big stakes. As such, you need not worry about Bishop, when in that Race, Prokofiev was fav.

Fynbos will be favourite in Bangalore Derby. Keep it for Pune/Mumbai Races which centres are KNDs forte.

Races are happening and continue to happen in such a manner as of now which is called Racing.

Moreover, Prokofiev was leading in COLTS STAKES after bend and got beaten at post in a close encounter wherein three horses were involved.Prokofiev is not a donkey, which gave a blazing track of a mile recently.

Just intuition will not help.Lets see how things shape . Let's see what others have in mind. I will post mine after studying in detail after acceptance.

I agree with u sir last time mile race ridden by jockey Mukesh Kumar in fact first 400 mts it was travelling wide all the way 8 horses and in the last 400 mts jockey Mukesh Kumar lost his whip accidentally this cost him the certain race if Trevor Rides in the Derby definitely gud chance to win as u said

For all the performance shown so far, it will be a huge struggle for 'Prokofiev' to lift the Bangalore Derby. Also, wrong to misguide poor punters even before acceptances are declared. In fact, one will have to wait to see who gets to ride this 'slow improving' and 'very inconsistent' horse. Too early a judgement made on Prokofiev, I suppose.

This year derby goes to P Shroff with RED BISHOP at nourishing odds. 

Godzilla sir you gave positano in maharajas cup and it's won, but I don't know how, positano and arkadian are class 2 horses those are one and two, Dyf, casteel, Ramial and truth are class1 horses and weight also same from last runs of those, can you  please explain how, we have to learn from you more that's why

Good evening Godzilla ji, in response to your  selection " PROKOFIEV" For the Bangalore Derby, is your selection based on Horse merit , or , as the Bangalore Derby is being sponsored by the Poonawala Group., You have given it as the winner. 

In my opinion, it may be in the board, i.e, among the first three horses , but winner , it looks a bit difficult.

The Bangalore derby will have a competitive field. It will be a fight among 3 colts and 1 filly.

Colts i prefer STORMY SEA , SOVEREIGN KING, RED BISHOP.

Filly : None other than FYNBOS

Usually I Prefer Colts but this time i preemfer FILLY to win over colts.

Winner : FYNBOS will boss the field with Trevor expected to ride.
