I forgot to mention one crucial point. It's all about the stallion's role. Whether the stallion contributes speed, stamina, or a mix of both is what really matters.

You have stated something with regard to the dam. Let me give you an example to illustrate it is not what you percieve.

The most important thing to consider is the gender of the foal along with the stallion that the dam is mated with.

Let me cite the case of Starlet, the dam of Soverign King, Time And Tide, and Stars Above.

The first foal of Starlet was Stars Above - a filly -  by Top Class.She was a pure sprinter and performed only on the shorter trips.

The second foal is none other than the current Sprinters Champion, Tide And Tide by Dali. As you are aware, Dali infuses speed into his progeny and therefore he is speedy.

The third foal f Starlet is Sovereign King by Top Class. He is a colt and a brilliant miler.

Bear in mind that , more often than not, the colts stay better than the siblings of the opposite gender.

 Iam taking liberty to point out that large heart (x-factor) can be inherited by fillies from their sire also. Colts get x-factor from only their dams. This is my understanding of Mariana Haun's book.

Baychimo is second foal to race of Lady Sergeant but third produced by mare. Her second foal died.

Jacqueline was a good horse but due to the incident, it broke it leg ( unable to  properly name ),, That time it was at the peak of its career, but before it       could win many more classic races, it was taken for breeding

As I said earlier,P.Shroff horses do all great things until Derby and then become a spent force..So it is too early to tell anything..

Has you  said about dam for longer distance  it's equally  sire also important  For example  see excellent art case almost more than 100 foals came out from stud only one can manage to win 2400 mtr it  is star superior none of them won that to on that derby day we have sir ceil and adjuicate   on that race sir ceil was tendon problem  and adjuicate  was suffering  from  fever  so star superior  won that race  otherwise it won't come near to these  horse so sire equally  important  in my opinion  Larry 

No doubt FYNBOS was the horse to watch out for in bangalore summer season. 

Looking at the current 3 year old contigent, and the New sires trying to make their mark with USHA and Dashmesh going hammer and tongs, and Kingda ka from NANOLI  has had it's fair share of chances before too, This year I see the NEW SIRE  picking up the blue ribbon in Feb, 

But as a person who watches races closely and keep up with pedigree and know a fair bit of hadicapping, I can clearly say that, FYNBOS HAD MORE TO GIVE, AND IT WAS A VERY VERY SMART TIMING, AND THE CHANGE OF FOOT WHEN WHIPPED WAS INSTANT, AND IT WILL BE VERY TOUGH TO BEAT THIS ANIMAL, 

Jaqueline what wonder went to the uk disgraced India in all her starts in class 4 and retired. So much for a champion.

You are perhas confusing it with Pesi-trained Set Alight, who lost the Indian Derby as a piping-hot favourite.

Anyways, the headline did not read that Fynbos will FAIL like Jacqueline for you to get confused.

Dear Veteran Punter,

I quite agree with what you've mentioned about Fynbos, as regards her potential, and what she would achieve in the near future, though I won't compare her with any others, sure, she'll make a huge impression over the next few years.

When I saw the Derby field I could foresee only one winner, and that was Fynbos, and I did mention that in dear Godzilla's Prokofiev link.

I'd like to share the reason why I was so strong on Fynbos.

In my years of research in the racing field there's one thing I've been following, with quite a bit of success, and one of the findings of my research was that a dam's second foal is one of the best, and that was the case with Fynbos, who is Mahali's second foal, and the first one was Zuccarro. Now if the 1st one is Zuccarro, and research proves that the 2nd foal is best, we all know what Fynbos would achieve.

Talking about 2nd foals, I had one more good thing on Sunday, and that was Baychimo, who once again is a 2nd foal of Lady Sargeant, and the 1st one was Lucky Zone, a class I animal.

A good 4-way roll of mine would have passed that day if Meropi were to win, had a roll on Inspire, Baychimo, Meropi, and Promiseofthefuture.

Another thing I'd like to mention out here. I see almost everyone talking about sires, and don't give much importance to the dam, but once again, based on my research, it's the dam who's important for a long distance race, and the reason being, it's a big heart that's required to win long distance races, and it's the dam who pass on this quality. I have never ever looked at sires for long distance races, and it has worked for me up until now.

I wish that some of the more knowledgeable ones share such inputs regularly, because it would just help us all, students of the game, to be that much more confident, and be in profit more often than not.

Fynbos win was very impressive taking up the colts with ease . But none of the his summer winners were able to annex Derby. There few good horses horses with pesi we will see in coming months . Derby is usually won by the horses who peak during that time of year and are at their best... One thing is for sure , this is going to be good year for KND.

It's a long way for the Derby. Let her first stay right & win the oaks. Tough call for her.

Jacqueline had to to contend with the ailment-prone  but brilliant Becket, whereas Fynbos has no rival to match her as of now. Who knows by the time winter comes, another Becket may line up to challenge Fynbos.
For me, the one capable of giving a fight in the forthcoming Pune Derby and/or Indian Classics could well be Gunsmoke, provided he hits top form and performs to his inherent bloodline potential.
