City Cruise (3) – A good upset horse. It has always performed well when running in aluminium shoes and now once again shifted from steel to aluminium. Though carrying extra top weight, it still has the ability to upset, and other factors make it a genuine threat.

Deccan Ranger (8) – Another upset horse that cannot be ignored. Though running in steel shoes, it has always performed consistently if we set aside the last two runs, which were affected by bad incidents.

Race 3
Tiger Ruby (5) – Four years old, the second youngest horse (good pedigree Phoenix Tiger) in this set. Though on steel shoes, it is still a good runner with jockey Uday. Having always met interference, if this time it gets a clear run, it can strike at good odds for minor positions.

Misty Night (8) – If odds for place are at least 60 paisa, then 10k place.
Race 4
Shoolin (3) – Last time backed with solid reasons, but the run is to be ignored as it met a severe injury at the upper gum. Possesses an ‘X’ factor to be considered again. A change of jockey is also a good move.

Decoy (3) – Trained by D. Netto and to be ridden by Mukesh Kumar. Has been impressive in track work with repeated sharp 800m gallops in 0.59 (-1) and a 1000m in 1.16 (+1), tagged “Likely winner”. Last time, it was struck in the mid-bunch out of 14 runners, but this time shapes up as a strong contender for a place, while also carrying winning potential.

Your Unforgettable (8) – Comes in as the standout contender, having shown top-class consistency with back-to-back strong wins and a solid second over 1400m, proving both speed and stamina. She holds the highest rating in this field, carries herself fluently under pressure, and has the tactical versatility to settle mid or stalk the pace before unleashing a decisive turn of foot. With Akshay Kumar on board and the excellent stable’s proven record in classics, she looks perfectly placed to step up over the mile and dominate this Grade III, making her the filly they all have to beat.

Star of Opera(3) My Sweetheart – Participating for the second time. Last time, was on the radar and looked promising, but went off as the hot favourite at just 50 paisa. This time too likely to be heavily backed, making a straight win bet less valuable. A prior experience with Whistle Down from the same bunch, who finished third but was out of the board, caused a setback in profits despite heavy play. Hence, though wishing for her victory, stakes remain cautious.
As an upsetter, Top in Class (2) Though running in steel shoes and aged, it can still try for a place.

Very tough card this time at Hyderabad. While some may find it an easy pick, from my short experience, it looks really tricky as horses with good potential are in steel shoes, and mid-range aluminium-shoe runners create confusion. Gut feeling says this time there will be too many upset races with slight ups and downs.
