What a day to have with Pune races just loved it  yes, I hammered it. Between Friends (6) is the most consistent sprinter in this field, hitting the board in nearly every recent run in July with a strong win to his name.

Carries a handy 55 kg, sits close to the pace, and finishes with a reliable kick over 1100m.

Sound, fit, and free of medical issues, he rates the safest and strongest place chance and may be a top 2 contender. Also worth noting that this aged horse has P.P. Dhebe up.

Purple Martini will be the favorite with no odds for place. Importantly, in the 28/8 track work it shows Purple Martini had to be urged at the end, so I don’t want to go with this one for win. Between Friends is the safest horse  let’s see.

Jade (3), the progressive 4-year-old filly, carries a light weight and brings sharp recent speed, making her the most convincing winner candidate here. Importantly, whenever she has enjoyed a clean run in her last seven starts, she has always finished first or second. She only lost when she met incidents.

With only four runners in this trophy race, P. Shroff’s determination and Vivek’s golden opportunity should make this an easy win.

Allez L’Etoile (11) is an improving 3-year-old, indicating that he is best suited to this trip. Dropping to 52 kg, he appears well-handicapped to emerge as a serious contender.

His track work has been eye-catching (1000m in 1:05, 1200m in 1:22), marking him out as a major improver.

Treasure Gold (4) has never left the board in his last 3 runs and this time carries 9 kg less weight. He came from behind and sparked in the final furlong.

Wind Dancer, while carrying less weight, lacks confidence due to the jockey and other reasons.

A solid SHP and Place candidate, and with only 6 runners, odds will be available.

Jackson (4) has improved a lot after his April run in track work, and in his last race he shaped as a reliable contender for the frame  a live threat to all his mates.

Race 6

Positano (3) has been working (ridden by Shreyas) consistently “freely / stretched out well” at 1400–1600m with no urging, which suggests the horse is being under-shown in public track reports. The timings are good without pressure (1.41–1.52 at 1400–1600m with relaxed 600 splits), meaning the real burst has been deliberately hidden.

In staying terms, that’s a serious positive because for 2400m what matters is conserving energy, relaxing, and producing the final 600m surge. Duke of Tuscany is the obvious rival, but has already shown his cards. If Positano’s true ability is being reserved, he’s primed for the right day  and this Trophy race is exactly when trainers spring their best.

In the real race, SANDESH on top is valuable. I GUESS TRAINER AND OWNER ALSO BETTING ON POSITANO (WIN & BIG PLACE) THIS TIME, SO THEY ARE HIDING THE ACTUAL BURST IN TRACK. HAHA LET’S SEE. POSITANO LOOKS A SERIOUS CONTENDER AND THIS TROPHY RACE COULD BE HIS DAY.

Fontana (7) is the one horse for me to be the winner and on the board. The reasons are many can’t explain, tired a lot while studying the Pune race card  but if anyone wants the theory behind it, let me know.

1-4 PURPLE MARTINI – This is a lowest cat race, first run this season ran an impressive 2^nd over 1200m with Nirmal Jodha in the saddle 1:10:65 with good timings. Still a maiden after 8 starts, this time to come out of maiden ranks with 100m less to travel with TP in the saddle.

2-4 EL GRECO – Recent run in G3 over 2000m can be considered a lung opener. Should strike here going over 1600m. Now with Sandesh in the saddle should win.  3 JADE is a LAY BET.

3-3 NEUTRALIST - Last recent run an impressive winner over 1200m 1:10:42 Prior run in Bangalore was 2^nd over 1200m. Now going over 1400m should be fine to win again. TP in the saddle again. Can be the BEST BET of the day.

4-1 THE MELINIUM FORCE – Recent winner over 1600m with Sandesh in the saddle who is retained to ride.  I think extra weight will not be a stopper going over same distance and in same class. Will repeat again.

5-4 JACKSON – Recent run a very good 2^nd over 1400m 1:27:46 If he reproduces the same run will come on top in this maiden race. 9 EXCITING also ran 2^nd recently over 1400m 1:28:21. Therefore timings of Jackson is better, also Sandesh in the saddle again, will beat Exciting.

6-3 POSITANO – By Arod. Winner of last two races over 2200m and 2400m in Bangalore recently. In good form should be able to continue winning and beat 2 DUKE OF TUSCANY and 6 PYRITE as all three ran close in Indian Derby. Its going to be Sandesh day.  

7-7 FONTANA – Won well recently over 1200m in a class 3 race clocking excellent timings 1:8:87 by 2.5L Now going over the same distance with slight weight advantage and going in higher class with weight advantage as apprentice on board. Has to beat 1 FIGHTON by US Navy Flag who ran a good 2^nd in class 2 with an apprentice on board without whip 1:10:56 is sure to place.
