Also Merlet should consider herself very lucky to win as she took out Morano throughout the last 100 mts almost on the outer track. Probably the stewards at Rctc were totally blind to this. The verdict was a snk. Any other club would have reversed the placing.

Very tight call here between Shine, Morano, Merlet, and Polka Dot.

First, I want to bypass Polka Dot. The very first reason, as one of the HT mates Raj Original said, is that it has raced only in Kolkata. When we compare with Morano and Shine, both have raced in Bangalore, which has an uphill straight (final 400m) where a true test of stamina happens, unlike the Kolkata track. Polka Dot is drawn 7, which means he has to bypass the main roadblock as he must take a very good jump and get into position right from the start, especially in 1400 meters. On the other hand, Shine and Morano have already proven themselves. Particularly, Morano ran in Bangalore, Race No. 20, where he finished badly out of the board against a strong bunch (odds were 20/1), and then next time won comfortably when he was favourite for short distance.

In Bangalore, the uphill straight means a real stamina test. That is why I am going with Shine as she already has excellent timings in Bangalore. Also, draw 1 to 4 are ideal for position, and even if a horse misses the jump, it can still recover. But in Polka Dot’s case, the factors are weaker in few few factors. Trevor has to prove why Trevor is called Trevor, and if he wins today, then a big bow to him, because Polka Dot’s win will be mainly due to Trevor’s skills.

Merlet is still a good horse, but overall, considering class, handicap, and track, I will choose Morano over Merlet and bank on Shine.

Shine (8) Win / Place

And if by chance Morano is offered place odds, even at 60 paisa, then yes, I will play place also.

At the end of the day, do not leave money on your selections if you are getting place odds.

So, Shine Win/Place, and Morano for place only if odds are available.

All the best with your selections, the best horse will prevail.

I think Shine has seen better company and should prevail.

As per my analysis, Merlet has best chance to win followed by Polka Dot. Laying Shine solely because of the out of form trainer and too many races for the horse.
