Indian trainers are scared of losing races thats why they are not entering horses.

If they enter horses without fear then we will see good old race cards of 8 horses or more and 8 races a day.

Pesi shroff is most scared of them because he has 200 horses under him and still few entries just to win championship. 

3 years before both sandesh and Trevor had 75 winners in same Mumbai season,  now they hardly touch 30.

Three things leading to the downfall of Indian Racing.

1.  The Vacum created by the end of an Era of the Big The Guns Dr.MAM, Deepak Khaithan and Vijay Mallya.  Even though The Poonawalls are doing their best to plug The gaps. Alot of owners nowadays relying on gambling.

2.  Target Audience.....The Good Ole days....Marketing Teams need some new tools to attract more sponsors. Gone are the days where we saw Pune morning races...families coming in to enjoy an afternoon of races.  Now the first enclosures look like satta gambling dens.

3.  International recognitions.....need to be on a global stage for foreign influx....weather its our horse racing, football, hockey or any sport.  We cannot be successful playing around and happy in our own backyards.

Absolutely correct, risking for paisa not worth it. 

Nowadays if anyone have to survive in horse racing one simple formula is "Back fav at high odds and lay at low odds or lay fav at low odds and back at high odds".

The on money favorite saga continued today albiet at a little better odds. Most Indian punters are leaning towards UK/Australia/Hong Kong races, very competitive races.

@ aniket exactly ...uk races are far better and Good potential horses minor Upsetter it will start from 15/1 goes till 50/1 and Fav 4/1 and very rare i see 70 paisa or 60 paisa 

Absolutely right brother. Uk racing is much much better than indian racing. There you will get very good odds even for the strong horse. But in india even for the class 5 horse you will get 50 paisa. What local punters will play. Specially in calcutta you can see only 6 to 7 horse run in maximum races not even 8. You cant gor for a place bet also. But in u.k there are minimum 10 to 12 horses in every race. That is actual racing. Thats why i use to play u.k races instead of indian race. 

British racing fraternity unitedly protested because they were paying their taxes.

In India everyone & his brother ( save tote punters) found solace in half tax betting .Why anyone will care?.Now it looks like their own house is set on fire !

Dear the standards of Indian racing have fallen. But somehow not for the reason you mentioned. 50/60 paise horses make it a one horse affair not because competition has reduced. The reason is somewhere quality of horses in India has been decreasing. There are no more horses which run 15/20 group races as they used to 25/30 years back. The track quality isn't the same either. 

There is interview of legendary trainer R.R. Byramji on YouTube. Watch it. The legend had predicted these standards 12 years back. 

Well said Golimar. Absolutely no interest in playing on Calcutta Colts day. Trevor completed his formalities and left for Mysore. One can see empty stands at Calcutta at so called Classic day.

While Calcutta is sinking despite Darshahs help in bringing his horses from South, Chennai is left with no future. The only sponsrs in Pune are the Poonawallas, Dhunji Saheb and Shapoorjis. 

Only Centres which are thriving are Hyderabad and to some extent Bangalore.

Curtains slowly falling on all Centres unless another Wadhwan type owner emerges.

@Skanda, the subject is about competitiveness of the races being framed.

Now there is a problem even if favorites win

Just saw an article, the UK government is having a proposal to raise the tax from 15% to 21%, and the while British racing authorities jockeys trainers everyone called for protests and cancelled today's races.

Now compare these guys with our racing authorities, Don't know if they are having any discussion with the government of India, no information in this regard.
