I wrote when this thread opened about Obsession of HT writers about Horse Prokofiev and I was Right about that..6-4 not even cane in place..still There will be people saying Prokofiev will win Indian Derby at Mahalaxmi this upcoming Mumbai season but no one will dare to write or even play this horse in Indian derby abd He might win at longer odds like Star Superior in the hands of Suraj Narredu..I hope someone open thread again in Indian Derby writing about preparation of Prokofiev.

  9-Golden Dancer, ch f, in imagination, can't be followed by total 7 colts+one roan.(No geldy in the set) --> No way !!

 4-Prokofiev have no killing instinct, probably 4th today.

1-Baychimo seems 2nd today,next outing,likely to deliver 100%.

Final analysis 

Prokofiev one horse race

Other horses simply lack the class for classics.Baychimo can be bracketed with Arriived and Knight Regent  who ran pathetically in recent Hyderabad derby.Same case with Super Star and Golden Dancer also.This Golden Dancer won against Dexterity by  17 lengths.Today, Dexitirity lost to Dreamer by more than 20 lengths. So the inference is that these contestants are  good only for handicape races.

Most probably Prokofiev will run at cramped odds.

If FYNBOS had run this race, most of us would not have any second thoughts. FYNBOS had beaten PROKOFIEV by 3 1/2 lengths and GOLDEN DANCER by 4 1/2 lengths. Lately, GOLDEN DANCER has improved a lot and hence should dance her way to lift this Derby.

Folks, 

Prokof will break the ice this time around and go all the way to lift Indian Derby hopefully. It's bloodline has the staying capacity. All the trainer has to do is to keep him in mid bunch and accelerate. Prokov wasn't exposed properly and now it will show its mettle.

Zacharias will not even place. 

I did not like the way Trevor rode Red Bishop in Hyderabad Derby. Very overconfident ride. Instead of pushing , he was whipping. Why dint he whip when the winner was coming close? I have my own doubts about the jockey.

Moonlight romance was also a very good horse which ran in classes and then went on two win both the Indian derby by 5 LENGHTS  and again the invitation cup

Just acknoledgeing your observation.Checked the run and timings of Golden Dacer as well as other horses timings on the same day.Simila timings were recorded when Odysesus won in a tight finish against Reginamemorabilis on 7th September.In their next races both of them won against champions.Where as here this Golden Dacer won by a street, clocking the same time.Looks like a Heir Apparent waiting for coronation. Felt till now, Prokofiev Just has to go through the formalities.

I quite agree. This Derby is probably the easiest one to solve, with absolutely no contenders in sight. The only other runner that comes into reckoning is Red Bishop, but running 2000m within a week, just not possible, moreover, Prokofiev's latest track work, over 1600 (-11) with not much decline in speed right upto last 600m conveys how fit this horse is. Back to back Derby wins for Prasanna Kumar.

Prokofiev under Suraj ( he is tracing him);will be renewing his battle with Red Bishop again. As the saying goes "once bitten twice shy " , Prokofiev will again chicken out when he sees Red Bishop and he will meekly surrender. He did not sustain his lead in Poonawalla Multi million, Bangalore Colts, Bangalore Derby and in  Hyd colts. 
If Red Bishop is accepted ( Shroff knows his condition better) can gain his first classic success.

One more Prokofiev lover..Thus is 3 rd thread in fot this horse still yet to win any big event..Still Prokofiev lovers will say not pune we will will Indian Derby at Mahalaxmi.Obsessed about One Horse .need to come out of that accept reality of Racing..
