The race that brought him widespread recognition as a world class rider was the 1992 Indian Derby in which he rode Astonish like one possessed to keep the famed Willie Carson at bay after a neck and neck battle down the Mahalakshmi straight.

He was unfortunate to receive a one year suspension for his ride on Rollerball but the reasons were entirely beyond his control and could not be made public.

A web series is reportedly underway on his life which will be a fitting tribute to one of the all time greats of Indian racing.

RIP Aslam Kader, heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.

Pocket Dynamite or AK 47 for punters, his acquiescence to his masters, a regular expert commentator on big days of racing with India race would not be forgotten easily.

His racing records during his heyday are a record in itself, continously winning 6 races at Mahalaksmi race course in 94 cannot be easily erased from annals of Indian racing. His win on Treasure girl[ N Darashah] in a three way contest with Vasant Sindhe on Nine Carat( R Byramji) and Warren Singh ( not S Marshall as stated by Polish Patriot) are worth remembering for lifetime. There were many Popular ridings for Ramaswamy stables also by Aslam, though very brief, that was when late D Khaitan took him on board 

The unsavoury incident of Aslam which comes to my memory was the loss of piping hot favourite Paper Tiger, for which Aslam was suspended for an year , where Trainer Uttam Singh was also suspended 

RIP BEST IN HIS CLASS HE WAS MARVELOUS IN HIS RIDING INFACT HE WAS VERY CLOSE TO ME WHENEVER HE USED TO SAW ME WHILE DRIVING HE USED TO STOP.HIS CAR  ON THE MAIN ROAD AND ENQUIRE WHICH IS RARE QUALITY OF CHAMPION JOCKEY ASLAM KADER AS IN EARLIER SAID  HE WAS AN 2 ND ENCLOSURE DARLING AND USED TO GIVE SIGNAL TO PUNTERS TO BACK HIS HORSE OPENLY BEFORE GOING TO THE STARTING GATE WHILE PARADING INFRONT OF 2 ND ENCLOSURE WHICH I HAVE SEEN IN MY OWN EYES TILL DATE NONE OF THE PRESENT TOP JOCKEYS   WHO HAVE WON MORE THAN 1K  RACES  HAVE NOT  DONE THIS BECAUSE  THEY ONLY WILL NOT BE KNOWING WHETER THEY WILL WIN OR NOT THIS IS THE SPECIAL ADDITIONAL CHARACTER  WHICH ASLAM KADER WOULD KNOW  EVEN WHEN DARASHA HAS TWO RUNNERS IN BANGALORE DERBY TREASURE GIRL AND LUCKY SHRIKE HIS FIRST JOCKEY WAS WARREN SINGH TRAINER GIVEN THE OPTION FOR WARREN SINGH TO SELECT THE HORSE HE OPTED LUCKY SHRIKE  TREASURE GIRL WAS LEFT OUT BY WARREN WHICH HAS BEEN GIVEN TO ASLAMKADER WHO WON THE DERBY COMFORTABLY AFTER THE RACE ONE CORRESPONDENT PUT A QUESTION TO ASLAM SAYING IF WARREN HAS SELECTED TREASURE GIRL AND U WOULD BE GIVEN LUCKY SHRIKE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN THEN SMILINGLY ASLAM REPLIED HE WOULD HAVE WON LUCKY SHRIKE BY 2 LENGTHS THIS WAS THE ANSWER JUST GAUGE HIS COURAGE I THINK HE WAS GOAT JOCKEY

Aslam was truly a punter's jockey. I have seen people who came only to see him ride.I have seen people who couldn't read a race card,didn't know the horse's name but bet blindly on the name of Aslam.As the race started punter's only searched for Aslam's position and by the time horse's reached the bend ,all eyes would be on him.I have never seen any other jockey receiving such an adulation. 

He was the trainer's pet too.Before joining the stables of D.Khaitan ,he was a freelancer and rode for many trainer's all over India.

I fail to understand how the Authorities at BTC and HRC denied him Trainer's licence!.RIP.

Was a great jockey after Vasant shinde, still relish his ride on superbrave, I think he won over little over at 3 to1 odds.

Very sad news to hear RIP Aslam kader I used to watch him from very close range in the paddock and usually I have seen after winning any major event he used to summer salt from the top of the horse which he was riding he was called darling by the punters many times he used to signal openly to back his horse to punters for 2 nd enclosure punters at Bangalore he was jim of a person he never came to any contravercies during his period as a jockey he was very obedient to.his masters I think it's a great loss to the racing industry he used to guide the upcoming jockeys he was a real master

Very sad to hear the passing of Champion Aslam Khader one of the best indian jockeys ever. The jockeys he competed with was not easy but he was a stand out among the best in the business at that time.
Riding with the likes of Vasanth Shinde,S.M.Jagdish,Robin Connor,Warren Singh was not a joke and that to to beat them.
He will be remembered forever.

RIP Aslam Khader the Pocket Dynamo

I can never forget the race where he managed to bring Treasure Girl in a narrow gap between Nine Carat ridden by great Vasanth Shinde and Lucky Shrike ridden by Sinclair Marshal to win the Bangalore Derby in 1988. The race was purely won by the Merit and the timing of the Jockey to manuear through a small gap and win competing with the greatest jockeys of those years.

Very sad to hear ...Aslam sir is no more,what a rider he was ,till date I have never seen a jockey who is praised by the public like  superhero and he was the One Aslam Kadar Sabka father... miss you legend ,miss you great rider.

I started racing accidentally in 1999 when I was 9th standard I got admire only with this beautiful name which won't be replaced by any.  In more than 100+ races commentator used to say here comes ASLAM KHADAR and he won 90 times. Miss u brother. Rest in peace bhai.

Aslam was a great jockey. he rode a horse weaver bird at mysore to victory. i will never forget. It was a difficult horse to steer. very lazy horse. He used to crack the horse so hard, The horse won 3 or 4 races in a row. one of the best jockeys i have seen or was lucky to see ride in the 90's. RIP  Aslam.

Sad to hear about the passing away of Aslm. Still remember the crowd's chanting  of "Aslam, Aslam " instead of the horse's name when the horses turned for home and throughout the long Mahalaxmi straight, till the winning post.The jubliation used to subside only after 5 or 10 minutes.I think no other jockeys name reverberated like that in the stands.That period is  Aslam's era!

Aslam Kader was one of the finest top jockey of India . A greater fighter in a tight finish , who rarely lost in a photo finish to other top Indian or foriegn  jockeys .His record of 77 wins in the 1988 -89 Mumbai  season  among numerous foregn jockey like the Irish champ M J Kinnane , will never be achieved by others . His 600mts  bend to winning post  , electrifiying fight on Astonish with LA Bou Vie with the legendary jockey Willie Carson astride  in the1992 Indian Derby  will remain in racing memory for long.His record of championship at all centres in a season is also  unique. May his soul rest in eternal peace

Sad news indeed...had the fortune of watching his rides towards his careers end and beginning of my racing journey with the peak being the starsky vs ansbach race (indian derby)..he lost that race much to everyone's surprise...after this race it was all downhill for him.he was a punters darling as he used to rarely win on favorites and his best efforts came when odds were 2/1 and above.

He was succeeded by Chris alford in the now defunct Khaitan soom stud farm.God knows what happened to that stud farm!

As soon as I read the message from Rahul71, I am deeply saddened to hear his demise. I am sure one of the greatest jockeys of all times. The rivalry with P Shroff was amazing. I started watching his races and unbelievable rides winning Indian derby's, President of India Gold cup, Nizam Gold cup........

He will be remembered forever...

    Punters Darling,left us at very less age.Remeber,more than a month,he sketched the#2nd Place Reserved# to Jockey Pesi Shroff Mounts:First Favourite,by **Pipping On Winning Post**.His"Power Packed Finishes & 47Kg Weight" (retained constant body weight for a longer period of time).  Later,Owner(Late) Deepak Khaitan brought him to Calcutta,in his last part of career.

I first saw him when he was an apprentice jockey. Then in 1981 he became Champion Jockey at Bangalore Summer Season ( partly due to suspension of Vasant Shinde for some period) . 

Few years later came the ROLLERBALL scandal and he was out of racing for a while.

Came back after the suspension and that was the glorious period of his career. Indian Derby on Astonish and Astronomic , Invitation Cup win with Super Brave and his association with all the great ELUSIVE PIMPERNEL are just unforgettable.

Aslam Kadar had fans all over India who admired his riding.

Well, rest in peace the CHAMPION.
