RIP Mr. Sultan Singh. Your contribution to Indian breeding will always be appreciated.
Sohna is one of the stud farms which had a great success in bringing got abroad mares and giving Indian turf some multi classic horses.
Rather it won't be an exaggeration to say that only Sohna, Hazara and Usha have brought mares from abroad that have consistently produced good horses. If we compare their record with some other studs in got abroads no one is near.
To talk of Sohna, Jacqueline, Becket, Enabler and Juliette are top three in my watching. Best is none came from any high covering price stallions. So bringing best horses at a reasonable price is something for which we must thank Mr. Sultan Singh.

I think Great Investment, Proletarean are the horses with his share made headings in 90's. Even great Investment beat Saddle Up and contemporaries in a great battle with Bajrang Singh on saddle.

Late Mr. Sultan Singh possessed an understanding of breeding lines, conformation of yearlings, and degree of adaptability of pedigrees to indian scene which isn't seen elsewhere. He was very successful, and will keep on blessing Sohna and their new endeavours for successful results.
I'm sure their new stallion Portamento will prove to do his master good.

RIP sir I used to meet him during auction sales a gentleman and as a breeder he knows the potential of each of his horses I think as a owner he used to visit the race club all over India especially during derby weekends he never used to miss out a man with the bundle of knowledge on.horse Racing has come to an end
