Suraj rode his 1000th winner on Becket at Malakpet on 16 August 2010. The previous day he rode in Pune i.e. 15 August 2010 where he won on Rajasthan Royals. 

Incidentally both his 1000th and 2000th winner were in Malakpet.

Suraj won his 1000th on Becket in Hyderabad in Nizam's Gold cup and not Invitation.

Just to correct you @dark crusader Suraj won 1000th race on Becket in Invitation Cup at Mumbai. Pune season was over 5 months back. I don't remember if he won on Rajasthan Royals a day earlier, but his 999 was definitely not in Pune. 

Congratulations Suraj no doubt you are the best in Indian racing circuit you have been punters darling and bookies nightmare...but till date I cannot forget your ride on Be safe in the Indian derby where you lost to Quasar that's the only glitch I have my friend but still I would regard you as the best in the business..We all chant for you Suraj when past rhe winning post..Love you brother...

Suraj Narredu's first winner was PREDOMINATE for trainer A David. ANJAAM was his second winner on same day (13/9/2002).

Congratulations Suraj (Sonu) on this milestone. I clearly remember when Suraj was approaching his 1000th winner, he won on a horse Rajasthan Royals in Pune. I sent him a personal message on social media congratulating him on riding 1000 winners. He was quick to respond and mentioned that he was on 999 winners. The very next day he was doing duty on Becket in Hyderabad, one of his favourite horses whom he partnered earlier that year taking down the mighty Jacqueline in the Indian Invitaion Cup in Mumbai. He rode a peach of a race on the long Malakpet straight coming with a blistering run on the wide outside to win a measure of comfort. I was present at Mahalaxmi to witness the race and the crowd erupted as Suraj celebrated with his trademark wave with his left hand before crossing the winning post. 

Indeed, one of the finest riders to grace the turf and a Superstar in his own right. What is  important to note that unlike other top jocks, he inevitably comes to the rescue of punters and that's what separates him from the rest. Over the years I have always followed one mantra " WHEN IN DOUBT FOLLOW SURAJ".

He has proved time and again that he can hold his own on the international circuit by winning races across continents. 

I assume that Suraj would be nearing an age when most jockeys hang up their boots and the coveted 3000 mark would certainly take a couple of years more. 

I take this opportunity to wish Suraj continued success in the saddle and keep rescuing punters like he has done over the decades, for we never know when he would call it a day and hang up his boots - boots which would be mighty hard to fill.
