STAR OF LIGHT is the main danger. A 4yo gelding on an improving curve with a STRONG SIGNAL above his current rating (ran within 0.20s of D GOLD STAR rated 63), prime-age energy, excellent trackwork, and a significant draw advantage (gate 3 vs recent 10-12). The cold T+J record (0/4) and extreme underweight (398kg) are the primary concerns, alongside the 2000m unknown.

SHEER ELEGANCE and THEOS are the most interesting horses outside the top 2. SHEER ELEGANCE has the highest effective rating (56), the strongest competition validation (rival won a higher-class Trophy), the best tactical running style for a paceless 2000m, and the top-ranked trackwork. The last-run filter elimination based on a 5-month-old 15.5L defeat at low-reliability Chennai is harsh and she is a genuine each-way threat.

THEOS carries the STRONGEST sweepstakes signal in the field with a TARGET RUN at today's exact 2000m, elite stamina pedigree, and the only big trainer + big jockey combination. His actual form is modest (maiden company, beaten 13-17L) but he is improving with distance and his connections are investing heavily in his classic future. If the race develops into a genuine staying test, his pedigree could prove decisive.

The Mysore Summer Million resolves into a two-horse race.

EFFICACY brings the strongest 1400m form in the field (dominant last-start win at this track and trip), the premier connections combination (67% trio win rate, same jockey already a dual winner on the horse), the ideal draw (Gate 1), the heaviest sweepstakes investment (24 nominations), and a positive physical profile (weight trending down while form improves -- a horse peaking).

ECHOES OF TIME is the legitimate danger. His older form is

exceptional: he beat EFFICACY at 1400m carrying 3kg more, and beat Money Bags (now R116) at level weights. His competition form validates as a STRONG UPGRADE. The small-trainer-plus-big-jockey rule elevates his older form over his last-start 1200m second. However, the +8kg weight shift (50kg to 58kg), volatile body weight, and jockey-only connections keep him one notch below.

CLOUDY HILLS is the clear form pick on 1400m-specific evidence. Three runs at the trip all produced STRONG SIGNALS against horses rated 56-77, placing her demonstrated effective class at 60-65 despite a 47 handicap mark. She gets 6-7kg weight relief today, her form is improving (3-2-2), and trackwork is SHARP. The only knocks are the class step from Class 4 to Class 3 and a recurring slowly-away habit that may cost ground with the false-rail bias favouring on-pace runners.

SAPPHIRE is the strongest all-round profile outside of the 1400m question mark. A prime 4yo gelding with outstanding SHARP trackwork (ranked #1), the same race jockey retained, a winning trio (50%), and a stable that has clearly identified him as target over two other runners. Everything else has significant disqualifiers: METZINGER and ROYAL BARON have compelling 1400m time figures but catastrophic recent form and medical concerns; NEVADA GOLD has an active eye infection; SILVER QUEST is untested at 1400m with gate and weight concerns; the remainder are eliminated on form or medical grounds.
