Many old timers will keenly remember John Lowe...a classic winning jockey from UK who regularly visited India especially Mumbai Mahalaxmi racecourse in the 80s & 90s. Sadly he passed away in Perth Australia.
His riding on Corviglia,Etna,Superbrave, Ponta delgado, Majestic Eagle and many more will be remembered.

It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of Jockey John Lowe, a name that will be remembered with affection and respect by the racing fraternity.
John was a jockey of courage, skill and determination, and his association with the sport extended to India, including the Mumbai racing circuit, where he rode and became part of the memories of racing enthusiasts here.
For those who knew him, watched him ride, or simply followed his career, his passing is a reminder of the special place jockeys hold in the world of racing. They put their trust in the horse, their skill in the saddle and their courage on the track, often in pursuit of those few unforgettable moments that make racing such a wonderful sport.
May the memory of John Lowe live on in the races he rode, the horses he partnered, and the many people whose lives he touched through racing.
Our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and all those in the racing community who knew and admired him.
Rest in peace, John.
You have taken your final ride, but you will not be forgotten.

Though I was a kid then and used to visit races as my dad was then an owner of a few horses.... I remember him winning the Poonawala Breeders Mutli Million for actor Feroz Khan and miss Sonu Davar and trainer S. Padmanabhan on horse called "Winning Pretty".
Old timers can correct me if I am wrong.
RIP his soul.

One of his best rides was on Belle Epoque.
He fought down the straight with Scorpio ridden by Lester Piggot. Just lost on the post.
Wonderful bottom weight rider.
May his soul rest in peace.
