Jockey I Khan, the rider of OPTIMUM PRIDE, was fined a sum of Rs. 2,000/- for the indifferent handling of his mount in the final 400 metres of the race. b f MANDIRA (Afzal Khan) was eased by its jockey before passing the winning post and dismounted. On returning to the unsaddling enclosure the filly collapsed due to cardiac failure. Jockey Neeraj Rawal when given an opportunity to explain the running of his mount br c ALETRIS, stated that despite his urgings the colt was unable to sustain its effort and finished off the race at the rear of the field. Tr. Vijay Singh when questioned stated that he had instructed the jockey to be positioned up with the leaders in the early and middle stages of the race and to do his best thereafter. The jockey informed him that the probable reason behind the colt’s poor show may have been its dislike to the sand based monsoon track. He however, could give no plausible explanation for the poor performance of his charge. The trainer went on to state that in all probability he would next campaign his charge on the winter track during the Cold Weather Season. His explanation was noted. |
